Answers to the questions and problems people search for most when using a UK casino app, from login errors to pending withdrawals.

Casino app help: find the fix for your problem

Most casino app problems come down to one of four things: the app itself, your phone's settings, your account status, or a rule the operator must follow. Working out which one you are dealing with saves a lot of tapping around. A spinning wheel that never loads points to the app or your connection, while a message asking for a payslip is a compliance check, and no amount of reinstalling will clear it.

If the problem is with installing rather than using an app, the download guide covers both stores step by step, and casino app troubleshooting goes deeper on crashes and freezes.

How the help articles below are organised

The cards fall into three groups. The first deals with login, loading and technical faults, from Face ID refusing to work to a forced update that will not finish. The second covers money: deposits, pending withdrawals, minimum amounts and transaction history. The third answers questions about rules, safety and your account, such as whether apps are rigged, whether winnings are taxed and what happens if you delete an app without closing the account.

Each article opens with the direct answer, then lists causes in order of likelihood with steps for iPhone and Android where they differ. If your question is about a specific casino, its own app pages, such as the Coral app review, link to brand-specific fixes. Because every licensed app connects to the same account as its website, trying the mobile site in your browser is also a quick way to tell an app fault from an account problem.

The UK rules behind messages you see in casino apps

Plenty of messages that look like faults are the app following Gambling Commission rules. Knowing which is which stops you chasing a fix that does not exist.

  • Age and identity checks must be completed before you can deposit or even play free-to-play demo games, which has been the rule since May 2019.
  • Document requests after you have played for a while are usually anti-money-laundering or affordability checks; see our guide to verification in casino apps.
  • Reality checks pop up to show how long you have played and your net position. They are a safety feature, not an error.
  • Withdrawals cannot be reversed. Since 31 October 2021 a UK casino may not let you cancel a payout request to keep playing.
  • Stake limits of £5 a spin for adults aged 25 and over, and £2 for those aged 18 to 24, can make an app reject a bet that looks normal.

When to contact support and how to complain

Try the quick fixes first, but do not spend an evening on them. If an app keeps failing after an update and a restart, or money has not arrived within the operator's published timescale, contact customer support. Live chat inside the app is usually quickest; have your username, the time of the problem and a screenshot ready.

  1. Note what happened, when, and any error message, and take a screenshot.
  2. Contact support through live chat or email and ask for a reference number.
  3. If you are unhappy with the answer, use the operator's formal complaints process.
  4. After eight weeks, or once the operator issues a final response, you can take the complaint to the independent dispute resolution (ADR) service it names.

Our walkthrough on how to complain about a casino app explains each stage, and apps with live chat compares support options.

If the problem is the gambling itself

Some questions in this help centre are not technical at all. If you are spending more than you planned, finding it hard to stop, or hiding play from people close to you, free and confidential help is available every day. The National Gambling Helpline is on 0808 8020 133, 24 hours a day. GamCare offers chat and counselling, GAMSTOP blocks you from all UK-licensed gambling sites and apps at once, and the NHS runs specialist gambling clinics.

Inside any licensed app you can also set deposit limits, take a time-out or self-exclude. Our responsible gambling page explains these tools, and UK gambling support services lists who to contact.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my casino app keep crashing?

An outdated app version or a full phone is behind most crashes. Start by updating the app from the App Store or Google Play, then restart your phone and check there is at least a few hundred megabytes of free storage. On Android, clearing the app's cache from Settings often helps; on iPhone, offloading and reinstalling does a similar job without losing your login details stored in iCloud Keychain. If crashes continue on one game only, the fault is more likely with that game. Our article on an app that keeps crashing lists further fixes.

How long should a casino app withdrawal take?

It depends on the operator's review and on your payment method, so there is no single answer. Most UK apps first approve the request internally, which can take a few hours to a few days, and then your bank or wallet adds its own time. Ladbrokes and Coral, for example, publish a typical Visa Fast Funds approval of a couple of hours and arrival within about four hours after that. A first withdrawal can take longer if verification is needed. See how long withdrawals take for method-by-method detail.

Why is my casino app asking for documents?

UK operators must verify your identity and, in some cases, check that your gambling is affordable and that funds come from a legitimate source. A request for a passport, a utility bill or a bank statement is part of these legal duties, not a sign that something is wrong. Upload clear photos through the app's verification section rather than by email unless support asks otherwise. Payments may pause until checks are complete. Our help page on apps asking for documents explains what each request usually means.

Can I use a casino app abroad?

Generally not for real-money play, because your UK licence-based account is meant for use in Great Britain and gambling laws differ in each country. Many apps check your location and block play when you are overseas, even on holiday. You can normally still log in to view your balance, withdraw or change limits. Using a VPN to hide your location usually breaks the terms and can lead to winnings being withheld. Our article on using casino apps abroad covers the common exceptions.

Does deleting a casino app close my account?

No. Removing the app from your phone only deletes the software; your account, balance and any marketing permissions stay exactly as they were. To close the account, use the account closure option in settings or ask customer support, and withdraw any balance first. If you want a break from gambling rather than a closure, a time-out or self-exclusion is more effective because it stops you reopening the account straight away. Our help page on whether deleting an app closes your account compares the options.

Are casino apps rigged?

Licensed UK casino apps are not rigged, but they are designed so the operator wins over time. Games use random number generators tested by independent laboratories, and each game has a published return to player that shows the long-term share of stakes paid back. That means losses are likely for most players across many sessions, even though any single session is unpredictable. Unlicensed apps carry no such checks. Our article are casino apps rigged explains how testing works and how to confirm an app is licensed.
