Casino apps by device
How UK casino apps work on each phone, tablet and computer: stores, settings, screen sizes, biometric login and device-specific fixes.
Casino apps by device: what changes from phone to phone
A UK casino app behaves much the same on any phone it supports, because it is a front end to one account with one balance, one set of limits and one verification record. What differs from device to device is everything around it: which store you download from, the minimum software version, how the games fit the screen, whether Face ID or a fingerprint sensor handles login, and how much storage and battery the app takes.
| Device family | Where apps come from | Login options | Things to watch |
|---|---|---|---|
| iPhone | UK App Store | Face ID or Touch ID if the app supports it | Recent apps may need a recent iOS version |
| Android phones | Google Play (approved GB operators) | Fingerprint or face unlock if supported | Manufacturer battery savers can close apps in the background |
| iPad and Android tablets | Same stores as phones | As above | Some games show in a phone-shaped window on large screens |
| Computers and other screens | Usually the mobile or desktop website | Password and two-step codes | No native app on many platforms |
For the two main platforms in full, see our guides to iPhone casino apps and Android casino apps.
Finding the right guide for your phone or tablet
The device guides below are grouped into Apple devices, Android phones, and tablets, computers and other screens. Each one covers installing from the right store, the software version you are likely to need in general terms, how slots and live tables lay out on that screen size, biometric login, storage, battery and fixes for problems specific to that platform. None of them claims that a casino app is certified for a particular model; operators publish minimum software versions, not approved handsets.
To see what a specific app needs, check its store listing. For example, the App Store listings for the Coral and Ladbrokes casino apps state iOS 18.0 or later, while PlayOJO and Casumo list iOS 15.0 or later and 10bet lists iOS 16.0. Google Play does not show a minimum Android version on its web listing, so your phone tells you whether it is compatible when you open the store. If the Install button is missing or greyed out, the app either does not support your software version or is not offered in your region's storefront.

What makes a phone comfortable for casino apps
Any phone that runs a current operating system and has room for a 100 MB app will cope with most casino apps. Comfort comes down to a few practical points.
- Screen size: larger displays make paytables and live casino bet spots easier to read; small phones work fine for portrait slots.
- Storage: some casino apps are over 100 MB before game assets are cached. Our page on low-storage phones covers ways to free space.
- Software updates: an older phone that no longer gets updates may lose access when an app raises its minimum version; see casino apps on older phones.
- Battery and data: live dealer streams use far more of both than slots. The guide to data usage gives typical patterns.
UK rules that apply on every device
Device choice does not change the rules. Slots have no autoplay or turbo mode, each spin lasts at least 2.5 seconds and stakes are capped at £5 a spin for adults aged 25 and over and £2 for those aged 18 to 24. Since January 2025 other casino games also lose autoplay and turbo, with at least 5 seconds per round. You must pass age verification before playing even the free demo versions of games.
Store rules add a layer of protection: Apple permits real-money gambling apps on the UK App Store only from licensed operators, and Google Play accepts them in Great Britain only from licensed operators it has approved. That is why we recommend the official stores over APK downloads; the APK explainer sets out the risks.
Shared phones, work devices and blocking tools
A family tablet or a phone your employer manages needs extra care. Never let anyone else use your casino account, keep biometric login linked only to your own face or fingerprint, and sign out when you pass the device on. Gambling on a work phone may also breach your employer's policy. Our guide to casino apps on shared family devices explains how to separate profiles and restrict downloads.
If you want to stop gambling apps appearing on a device, both iPhone and Android have built-in content restrictions, and blocking apps can add another layer. See how to block gambling apps on iPhone for the settings path. GAMSTOP and the National Gambling Helpline, 0808 8020 133, are there for anyone who needs support.
Frequently asked questions
Do casino apps work on every iPhone?
No, each app sets a minimum iOS version, and older iPhones that cannot update past it will not install the current app. The App Store listing shows the requirement under Compatibility. Among the apps we list, the Coral and Ladbrokes casino apps ask for iOS 18.0 or later, while PlayOJO and Casumo ask for iOS 15.0. If your phone is too old, the operator's mobile website in Safari is usually a working alternative. Our iPhone casino apps guide explains how to check your version in Settings.
Can I use the same casino account on my phone and tablet?
Yes. A licensed casino app is simply another way into one account, so your balance, limits, bonuses and verification status are the same on every device. You can log in on a phone and an iPad, though some apps allow only one active session at a time and will sign you out of the other. Set limits once and they apply everywhere. Our help article on using a casino app on two devices covers session behaviour in more detail.
Are Android casino apps on Google Play safe?
Apps from licensed operators on Google Play are as safe as the operator behind them, because Google allows real-money gambling apps in Great Britain only from licensed operators it has approved. Check that the developer name on the listing matches the casino's licence holder. The risk comes from APK files downloaded from websites, which skip those checks and can be fake. Keep Play Protect switched on. Our guide to Android casino apps shows how to confirm a listing is genuine.
Is a bigger screen better for casino apps?
It helps for some games and makes little difference for others. Live dealer tables, multi-hand blackjack and slots with large grids are easier to read on a big phone or tablet, because buttons and bet spots are less cramped. Many modern slots are designed to play in portrait on a phone, so a compact screen is comfortable for them. Battery drain rises with screen size and streaming. Our guide to large-screen phones looks at the trade-offs.
How much storage does a casino app need?
Expect roughly 25 MB to just over 100 MB for the app itself, plus extra space as games cache their graphics. App Store listings for the apps we cover range from about 25 MB for PlayOJO to around 112 MB for 10bet. Leave some headroom, because a nearly full phone can cause crashes and failed updates. Clearing the app's cache on Android, or offloading and reinstalling on iPhone, frees space without losing your account. See low-storage phones for more ideas.
Can I play casino apps on a computer?
Usually through the casino's website rather than a downloaded app. Some App Store listings show compatibility with Macs that use Apple silicon, marked as designed for iPad and not verified for macOS, so results vary. On Windows PCs and Chromebooks, the browser is the dependable route, using the same account and limits as your phone. The UK rules on stakes and game speed apply identically. Our guides to playing on a Mac and a Windows PC explain the options.
