Casino apps for iPad mini

Casino apps for iPad mini come straight from the App Store, and all five apps we cover list iPad as compatible. What decides whether one installs is the iPadOS version: two need iPadOS 18, the others accept older releases. The small screen suits portrait slots, and Touch ID in the top button handles quick sign-ins where the app supports it.

Key takeaways

  • All five partner apps list iPad compatibility on the UK App Store; minimum versions run from iPadOS 15 to iPadOS 18.
  • Recent iPad mini models use Touch ID in the top button rather than Face ID.
  • Wi-Fi-only models estimate location from Wi-Fi; cellular models also have GPS, which helps with location checks.
  • An iPad mini is often a shared or family device, so lock casino apps behind your own passcode and Touch ID fingerprint.

Do casino apps work on iPad mini?

They do. Apple treats the iPad mini as a full iPad, so any casino app whose App Store listing includes iPad will appear when you search on it. The UK App Store listings for Coral, Ladbrokes, PlayOJO, Casumo and 10bet all name iPad in their compatibility section. Apple only allows real-money gambling apps from licensed operators on the UK store, so the apps you find under those brand names are front ends to licensed accounts.

The thing to check is your software version. Each listing sets a minimum iPadOS version, and an iPad mini that can't run it will show the app as unavailable. Older minis that are stuck on an earlier release can still use the casino's mobile site in Safari. The wider iPad casino apps guide covers the full-size models.

iPadOS versions the casino apps need

These are the minimum versions shown on each UK App Store listing when we compiled this page. Developers raise them over time, so check the listing on your own iPad before relying on the table.

AppLists iPad?Minimum iPadOSListed size
Coral Casino: Slots & GamesYes18.0101.6 MB
Ladbrokes Casino Games & SlotsYes18.0101.2 MB
PlayOJO Real Money CasinoYes15.025.4 MB
Casumo Casino & Sports BettingYes15.052.5 MB
10bet: Sports Betting & CasinoYes16.0112.3 MB

To find your version, open Settings, tap General, then About. If an update is waiting, it appears under General then Software Update. iPadOS 18 runs on the iPad mini (5th generation) and later, so a mini from 2019 onwards can meet every requirement in the table once it's updated. Our guide to updating casino apps explains what to do when an app says an update is required.

Installing a casino app on iPad mini step by step

  1. Open the App Store and tap the search tab.
  2. Type the casino's name and open the listing whose seller or developer matches the licence holder (for example LC International or Entain for Coral and Ladbrokes, Skill On Net for PlayOJO).
  3. Tap Get, then confirm with Touch ID or your Apple Account password.
  4. Open the app, allow notifications only if you want them, and allow location when asked so the app can confirm you're in the UK.
  5. Sign in with your existing account or register; new accounts go through age and identity checks.
  6. Set a deposit limit before your first deposit, from the account or safer gambling menu.

If the Get button is greyed out or the app doesn't appear, the usual causes are an old iPadOS version, Screen Time content restrictions, or an Apple Account set to a country other than the UK. Our page on problems downloading casino apps on iPhone applies equally to the mini, and how to install on iPhone shows the same screens on a phone.

Touch ID in the top button: quicker, safer sign-in

Since the sixth generation, the iPad mini has used Touch ID built into the top button rather than a home button or Face ID. That works neatly in either orientation, and it means you can protect a casino app with a fingerprint rather than a typed password every time.

Whether an app offers fingerprint sign-in is the developer's choice. Casumo's App Store listing mentions Face ID and Touch ID login; the other four listings don't say either way, so look in the app's settings or login screen for a biometric option. Apple Pay deposits, where the cashier offers them, are also confirmed with the same fingerprint. See biometric login and Apple Pay casino apps for how both work.

Playing on an 8.3-inch screen: portrait, landscape and layout

The mini sits between a large phone and a standard tablet, which is a sweet spot for casino play. Many modern slots are designed in portrait for phones, and on the mini they fill the screen with bigger buttons and clearer paytables. Landscape suits classic five-reel slots, roulette tables and live dealer streams, where the extra width lets the chip rack and betting grid sit side by side.

Some apps run their iPhone layout scaled up on iPad, while others have a dedicated tablet layout with wider lobbies. Neither affects the games, which are the same certified versions with the same rules and return. If text looks small, iPadOS's Display & Brightness settings and Larger Text help, and our display and dark mode guide has more ideas. For which games favour which orientation, read portrait vs landscape slots.

Wi-Fi vs cellular iPad mini: location checks

UK casinos must make sure you're playing from a permitted location. A Wi-Fi-only iPad mini works out where it is from nearby Wi-Fi networks, which is normally accurate at home but can wobble on public or travel networks. Wi-Fi + Cellular models also have GPS, so they tend to pass location checks more consistently.

If an app reports a location error, open Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Location Services, and make sure it's on and the casino app is allowed. Turn off any VPN. The location checks guide explains what casinos are looking for.

Battery, storage and data on a smaller tablet

The listed app sizes run from about 25 MB to about 112 MB, but apps grow once games are cached. If your mini has limited free space, Settings, then General, then iPad Storage shows how much each app uses. Offloading an app frees space while keeping its settings, and your casino balance isn't stored on the iPad anyway, so reinstalling loses nothing.

Slots use little data; live casino streams use much more. On a cellular mini, watch your mobile allowance during live dealer sessions, and turn down stream quality if you're away from Wi-Fi. Our page on casino app data usage gives typical figures and battery tips.

When the iPad mini is a family device

Minis are popular with children, so a casino app on a shared one needs care. Keep it on a passcode-protected iPad, never on a child's Apple Account, and don't let Safari autofill a casino password. Screen Time can block gambling apps and websites on a child's account or on the whole device. Our guides to blocking gambling apps on iPhone and shared family devices explain the settings.

UK rules and safer gambling on iPad

The device doesn't change the rules. Online slots are capped at £5 per spin if you're 25 or over and £2 if you're 18 to 24, with no autoplay and at least 2.5 seconds between spins. Deposit limits, time-outs and reality checks are set on your account and apply on every device. Frequently asked questions

Which iPad mini models can run casino apps?

Any iPad mini that runs the iPadOS version an app requires. Coral and Ladbrokes need iPadOS 18, 10bet needs iPadOS 16, and PlayOJO and Casumo need iPadOS 15, according to their UK App Store listings. iPadOS 18 supports the iPad mini (5th generation) and later, so a mini from 2019 onwards can install all five once updated. Older minis can still use the casino's mobile site in Safari, with the same account and balance. Our older phones guide explains the browser route in more detail.

Can I use Touch ID to log in to a casino app on iPad mini?

Often, yes, but it depends on the app. The iPad mini (6th generation) and later have Touch ID in the top button, and apps can use it in place of a password if the developer has built that in. Casumo's App Store listing mentions Face ID and Touch ID login, while the other partner listings don't mention biometrics either way. Look on the app's login screen or in its security settings for a fingerprint option. Our Face ID set-up guide shows the same steps, which work for Touch ID too.

Is the iPad mini better than an iPhone for casino apps?

It depends on what you play. The mini's bigger screen makes table games, live dealer streams and paytables easier to read and tap, while an iPhone fits in your pocket and usually has Face ID. The apps, accounts and games are the same on both, so neither gives you a different return or different offers. Many players use both: a phone for a quick look at promotions, a tablet for longer sessions at home. Our iPhone casino apps guide compares the phone side, and two devices explains using one account across both.

Why can't I find a casino app on my iPad mini?

The three common reasons are an old iPadOS version, a non-UK App Store region, or Screen Time restrictions. Check Settings, General, About for your version and compare it with the listing's requirement. Next, check your Apple Account country under Media & Purchases. Finally, look at Screen Time's content and privacy restrictions, which can hide apps rated 18+. Searching the exact brand name, rather than a general term, also helps. Our download problems page goes through each fix on iPhone and iPad.

Do casino apps on iPad mini need location turned on?

Usually, yes. UK-licensed casinos must confirm where you're playing from, and many apps ask for location access to do that. Some App Store privacy labels mention location: Coral's lists coarse location and Ladbrokes's lists precise location, for example. A Wi-Fi-only mini uses nearby networks to estimate its position, while cellular models can also use GPS. If you deny access, the app may refuse to open games. You can review the permission at any time in Settings. Our location tracking page explains what apps do with it.

Can I play casino games in Split View on iPad mini?

Possibly, but it isn't ideal. iPadOS can show two apps side by side, and some casino apps support resizing while others stay full screen. Even where it works, a slot or live table squeezed into half of an 8.3-inch screen becomes hard to read and easy to mis-tap. Pairing a casino with another app can also make it easier to lose track of time. If you want to keep an eye on your session, reality checks in the casino's safer gambling settings are a better tool. Read how reality checks work.

How much storage do casino apps take on iPad mini?

The UK App Store lists download sizes from about 25 MB (PlayOJO) to about 112 MB (10bet), with Coral and Ladbrokes at just over 100 MB and Casumo at about 52 MB. Installed apps grow as they cache game files and images, so allow extra space. You can see the real figure under Settings, General, iPad Storage, and offload or delete an app without affecting your account or balance, which live on the casino's servers. Our low storage phones guide has tips that apply to tablets too.

Can I deposit with Apple Pay on an iPad mini casino app?

Where the casino offers Apple Pay in its cashier, yes; you confirm the payment with Touch ID or your passcode. The card behind Apple Pay must be a debit card, because credit card gambling is banned in Great Britain, including through digital wallets. Check the welcome offer terms before choosing a method, since some offers exclude certain payment types. Withdrawals normally go back to the method you used, where that's possible. Our Apple Pay casino apps page explains deposits and payouts in more depth.
