Casino apps for iPhone 15 models install and run normally in the UK: the phones take iOS 26 and iOS 27, well above the iOS 18 that the most demanding casino apps we cover require. Three years on, the things worth checking are battery health, storage and software updates, so this guide focuses on keeping an older iPhone running well.
All four iPhone 15 models can run every UK casino app we cover, as long as iOS is kept up to date.
Coral and Ladbrokes need iOS 18 or later, so an iPhone 15 still on iOS 17 must update first.
Check Settings > Battery > Battery Health before long live casino sessions on an older handset.
A second-hand iPhone 15 must be fully reset and signed out of the previous owner's Apple Account.

Will casino apps run on my iPhone 15?
Yes. The iPhone 15 range is supported by iOS 26 and by iOS 27, which Apple announced in June 2026 for the same iPhones as iOS 26. The casino apps we cover need iOS 15, 16 or 18 according to their UK App Store listings on 20 October 2026, so an updated iPhone 15 clears every one of them.
The only trip-up is a phone still on iOS 17, the version it shipped with. PlayOJO, Casumo and 10bet will install, but Coral and Ladbrokes require iOS 18 or later, and the App Store will tell you the app isn't compatible. Updating fixes it. If you're using an even older handset, our casino apps on older phones guide explains what to expect.

Updating an iPhone 15 before installing casino apps
Updates also patch security holes, which matters on a phone that holds payment details. A major update can take half an hour or more on Wi-Fi, so do it before you sit down to play rather than when an app suddenly asks.
Back up the phone: Settings > your name > iCloud > iCloud Backup > Back Up Now.
Plug in to a charger or make sure the battery is above 50%.
Go to Settings > General > Software Update.
Tap Update Now on the newest version offered and enter your passcode.
When the phone restarts, open the App Store, tap your profile picture and update every app in the list.
Open the casino app and sign in; you may need to re-enable Face ID inside it.
If an app shows an 'update required' message even after this, see our update required page.

This was the first iPhone generation with USB-C and the first standard models with the Dynamic Island. For casino apps, the gap that shows is refresh rate: only the Pro models have the 120Hz ProMotion display.

Those battery figures are for a new phone. After three years of charging, the real number is usually lower, which is why the next section matters more than the spec sheet.
Battery health and live dealer streams on a three-year-old iPhone
Lithium-ion batteries lose capacity over time. Open Settings > Battery > Battery Health to see the maximum capacity as a percentage of new. A phone at 80% will reach Low Power Mode noticeably sooner during a live casino session, because a dealer stream keeps the screen, the network radio and the video decoder busy all at once.
Lower the brightness: the screen is often the biggest drain.
Prefer Wi-Fi to 5G or 4G for live tables; it typically uses less power.
Close games you're not playing rather than leaving them in the app switcher.
If the phone gets warm and dims, take a break. A hot phone doesn't change outcomes, which are decided on the casino's server.
Our page on whether casino apps drain battery has more settings. A battery replacement from Apple or an authorised repairer restores capacity if the percentage has dropped a long way.
Muting slot sounds: the switch versus the Action button
The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus keep the old ring/silent switch; flick it and the phone goes silent, though some games keep playing their own audio unless you mute them in the game settings. The 15 Pro models replaced the switch with the Action button, which toggles silent mode by default but can be reassigned in Settings > Action Button. Most slots also have a speaker icon in the corner or inside the menu; that's the reliable way to mute a single game.
Freeing up storage for casino apps
A 128GB iPhone 15 full of three years of photos can run short. The casino apps we cover range from about 25MB (PlayOJO) to just over 100MB (Coral, Ladbrokes, 10bet) on the App Store, but they cache game files once you start playing. Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage and look at the casino app's Documents & Data figure; if it's large, deleting and reinstalling the app clears the cache without touching your account, balance or history. Our low storage phones guide has more tips, and the app cache glossary entry explains what is stored.
Using casino apps on a second-hand or refurbished iPhone 15
Apple no longer sells the iPhone 15 new, so many people now own one second-hand. Before you install any casino app, make sure the phone is fully yours: erase it via Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone, sign in with your own Apple Account, and check Find My is linked to you, not the previous owner. Also check Settings > General > About to confirm it's not a managed (work or school) device, as these can block app installs.
Never sign in to a casino app on a phone where someone else's Apple Account or saved passwords remain. Casino accounts are strictly one person each, and a shared device can trigger security checks. Our refurbished phones guide covers checks before buying.
When Safari is the better choice
If you can't update iOS for some reason, or don't want another 100MB app installed, the casino's mobile site in Safari gives you the same account, games and limits. You lose push notifications and possibly Face ID sign-in, but deposits and withdrawals work the same way. Our comparison of casino apps and mobile sites sets out the trade-offs.
Set a deposit limit in each casino app before you play, and consider a reality check that pops up after a set time. iOS Screen Time adds daily App Limits on top. Remember that casino games are built with a house edge, so over time players should expect to lose. If you want to stop, GAMSTOP excludes you from every UK-licensed site, and the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133 is free and open 24/7. Our safer gambling page lists more support, including GamCare and NHS clinics.

Frequently asked questions
Is the iPhone 15 still supported for casino apps?
Yes. Apple supports the iPhone 15 range on iOS 26 and on iOS 27, and the casino apps we cover need iOS 18 at most. That means an updated iPhone 15 installs every one of them. The only case where you'd be blocked is a phone still running iOS 17, which can't install the Coral or Ladbrokes apps until it's updated. Our iPhone casino apps page compares the apps in more detail.
Why can't I download the Coral app on my iPhone 15?
The most likely reason is that the phone is still on iOS 17. Coral's UK App Store listing requires iOS 18.0 or later, so the store won't install it on an older version. Go to Settings > General > Software Update, install the newest version offered, then try again. If the app still won't appear, your Apple Account region may not be the UK. Our can't download on iPhone page covers the other causes.
Does an iPhone 15 have enough power for live dealer games?
Yes. Even the A16 chip in the standard iPhone 15 decodes live video streams comfortably, and the Pro models have the faster A17 Pro. What limits an older iPhone is usually the battery rather than the processor. Check Settings > Battery > Battery Health; if capacity has dropped a long way, keep the phone on charge in a cool place or play shorter sessions. The live casino apps page explains how streams work.
Can I use Face ID for casino apps on the iPhone 15?
Usually, yes, but it depends on each app. Casumo's App Store listing says it supports Face ID and Touch ID; the other listings we checked don't mention it, so look in the app's account or security settings. Face ID never shares your face scan with the casino; the phone just confirms a match. If it stops working after an iOS update, our Face ID not working page explains the fix.
Is it safe to use a casino app on a second-hand iPhone 15?
It is once the phone has been properly reset and signed in with your own Apple Account. Erase it in Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone, check Find My shows your account, and confirm there's no device-management profile. Then download casino apps only from the App Store. Never use a phone that still has another person's accounts on it, because casino accounts must be used by one person only. Our casino app safety guide has more checks.
How do I mute casino game sounds on an iPhone 15?
On the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus, flick the ring/silent switch on the left side; on the 15 Pro and Pro Max, press the Action button, which toggles silent mode by default. Some games keep their own audio regardless, so also tap the speaker icon in the game's menu. Live dealer tables usually have a separate volume control for the dealer and for effects. Our casino app troubleshooting guide covers other settings.
Will my iPhone 15 slow down if I install several casino apps?
Not noticeably. Apps that aren't open use no processing power, and the casino apps we cover take between about 25MB and 112MB on the App Store. What can slow an older phone is very low free storage, because iOS needs space for caches and updates. Keep a few gigabytes free, and remember that having accounts at several casinos makes spending harder to track. Our page on having more than one casino app explains the pros and cons.
Do UK rules work differently on an older iPhone?
No. The rules come from the UK Gambling Commission and are applied by the casino's servers, so they're the same on any device. Slots take at least 2.5 seconds per spin, autoplay and turbo modes are banned, and stakes are capped at £5 per spin for players aged 25 and over and £2 for those aged 18 to 24. Bonus wagering is capped at 10x since January 2026. The UK casino app rules page lists every change.
