Casino apps on a Chromebook can come from Google Play if your model supports Android apps and the casino makes its listing available to that device. Many players find the casino's website in Chrome works better, though: it is designed for a keyboard and large screen, and it uses the same account, balance and limits as the phone app.
Most recent Chromebooks run Android apps from Google Play, but a casino app built for phones may not be offered for, or suit, a laptop.
The casino's website in Chrome is usually the smoothest option on a Chromebook and can be installed as a shortcut.
Location checks rely on Wi-Fi positioning on most Chromebooks; turn location access on and switch off any VPN.
School and work Chromebooks are managed by an administrator; don't install gambling apps on a device you don't own.

Can you use casino apps on a Chromebook?
Often you can, but whether you should is a separate question. ChromeOS runs Android apps from Google Play on most Chromebooks sold in recent years, and Google allows real-money gambling apps in Great Britain from licensed operators it has approved. So, in principle, the same casino apps you'd find on an Android phone can appear in Play on a Chromebook.
In practice, developers decide which kinds of device their app is offered on, and casino apps are built for phones first. Some may show as unavailable for your Chromebook, and others install but open in a narrow phone-shaped window. The casino's own website in Chrome sidesteps all of that. This page explains both routes and helps you pick. For the phone side, see Android casino apps.
Checking whether your Chromebook runs Google Play apps
Click the time in the bottom-right corner, then the gear icon to open Settings.
Look for an Apps section with Google Play Store; if it's there, turn it on and accept the terms.
Open the Play Store from the launcher and sign in with your Google account.
Search for the casino's exact name and check the developer matches the licence holder.
If Play says the app isn't compatible with your device, use the casino's website in Chrome instead.
If there's no Google Play option in Settings, your Chromebook either doesn't support Android apps or an administrator has turned them off. Don't install casino apps from APK files to get round this; our page on casino APK downloads explains the security risks, and casino apps not on Google Play explains why some brands are missing.
Android casino app vs Chrome website on a Chromebook
On a phone, the app is usually the slicker option. On a Chromebook the balance tips the other way, because the website is built to handle a laptop screen, keyboard and trackpad.

Making the Chrome site feel like an app
Chrome can save a website as a shortcut that opens in its own window from the shelf, which gives you most of an app's convenience without an install from Play. The menu wording changes between Chrome versions, but the steps are broadly these.
Open Chrome and type the casino's address yourself, rather than following an advert.
Check the padlock and that the domain is the operator's own.
Open the three-dot menu and look for an option to install the page as an app or create a shortcut.
Tick the option to open it as a window if offered, then confirm.
Pin the new icon to the shelf so it's one click away, and log in.
Some casino sites are set up as progressive web apps, which makes this even smoother. If you share the Chromebook, skip saved passwords and log out after each session.
Location checks on a Chromebook
UK-licensed casinos must confirm you are playing from somewhere their licence covers. Most Chromebooks have no GPS, so location comes from nearby Wi-Fi networks and your internet connection. That's usually accurate at home but can confuse a casino on hotel, office or mobile hotspot connections.
If you see a location error, check that location access is enabled in ChromeOS settings and that Chrome or the app is allowed to use it. Turn off any VPN or proxy extension, as casinos commonly block them. Our location checks guide and VPN page explain why.
School, work and shared Chromebooks
Many Chromebooks are managed by an employer, school or college. An administrator can block Google Play, specific apps or gambling websites, and may be able to see browsing activity. Installing gambling apps or visiting casino sites on a device you don't own can break workplace rules, so keep gambling to your own hardware. Our page on casino apps on a work phone explains the same issue for phones.
Family Chromebooks bring a different risk. If children use the same laptop, give each person a separate Google profile, never save a casino login in Chrome on a shared profile, and use Family Link or blocking tools to keep gambling sites off children's accounts. See shared family devices.
Paying and withdrawing from a Chromebook
The cashier is part of your casino account, so the methods match what you'd see on any computer. Debit cards, PayPal and pay by bank are common choices; Google Pay may appear on the web or in an Android app where a casino supports it. Credit cards are banned for gambling in Great Britain, including through wallets funded by a credit card. Our Google Pay casino apps page explains how wallet payments work and where they appear.
Withdrawals follow the casino's closed-loop rules, meaning money usually returns to the method you deposited with, and you can't reverse a withdrawal request to keep playing. How to withdraw from a casino app walks through the process.

Keeping control on a laptop
A Chromebook makes it easy to have a casino open in one tab while you work or browse in others, which can stretch sessions out. Set a deposit limit and reality check on your account before you start; they apply on every device. UK rules cap slot stakes at £5 per spin for over-25s and £2 for 18 to 24-year-olds, with no autoplay. Gambling is a paid pastime and losses are more likely than wins over time. Our safer gambling page lists the tools and free support, including the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133.

Frequently asked questions
Can I download Google Play casino apps on a Chromebook?
Sometimes. Most recent Chromebooks run Android apps from Google Play, and licensed UK casino apps are allowed on Play. However, each developer chooses which devices its app is offered on, and casino apps are designed for phones. If Play shows the app as incompatible, or it isn't listed at all, that's the developer's choice rather than a fault with your laptop. The casino's website in Chrome then gives you the same account and games. Our guide to installing casino apps on Android covers the Play process step by step.
Is it better to use the casino website on a Chromebook?
For most people, yes. Casino websites are designed for laptop screens, keyboards and trackpads, while Android casino apps are built for phones and can open in a small window. The website needs no install, updates itself and gives you the same balance, offers, limits and verification as the app. You can save it as a shortcut in Chrome so it opens in its own window. The app's main advantage is notifications, which many people prefer to keep off anyway. Read casino app notifications for what to allow.
Why does a casino say my Chromebook is in the wrong location?
Chromebooks usually estimate location from Wi-Fi networks and your internet address rather than GPS, so a VPN, proxy extension, work network or mobile hotspot can make you look as if you're somewhere else. Turn on location access in ChromeOS settings, allow it for Chrome or the app, disable VPN or proxy tools and reconnect to your home Wi-Fi. UK casinos must confirm your location, so they can't simply switch the check off. Our location error page lists further fixes.
Can I use a casino app on a school or work Chromebook?
You shouldn't. Managed Chromebooks belong to the school or employer, whose administrators can block Google Play, apps and gambling websites, and may be able to see what's been installed or visited. Using one for gambling can break the organisation's rules, and anyone using a school device who is under 18 can't legally gamble at all. Keep gambling to a device you own and control. Our guide on casino apps on a work phone explains the risks in more detail.
Is it safe to sideload a casino APK onto a Chromebook?
We don't recommend it. Sideloading on ChromeOS means switching on developer settings and installing files from outside Google Play, which skips Play Protect scanning and Google's licensing checks for gambling apps. A fake or altered APK could steal logins, ID documents or payment details. If a casino app isn't available for your Chromebook in Play, use the casino's website instead; it's the same account with full security. Our page on how to spot fake casino apps shows the warning signs to watch for.
Do Chromebook casino apps support fingerprint login?
Some Chromebooks have fingerprint readers, and ChromeOS uses them to unlock the laptop. Whether an Android casino app on that Chromebook can use the fingerprint for its own sign-in depends on the app and the device, and it isn't guaranteed to work the way it does on a phone. On the website, Chrome's password manager or passkeys may offer biometric confirmation on supported hardware. Whatever you use, pick a strong, unique password. Our password managers guide explains the safest set-ups.
Will my phone casino account work on a Chromebook?
Yes. Your casino account isn't tied to your phone; sign in with the same username and password on the website or Android app and you'll see the same balance, bonus progress, limits and history. You may be asked for a security code the first time you log in on a new device. Some casinos only allow one active session, so you might be logged out on your phone. Our page on using two devices explains what to expect.
How do I block casino sites on a family Chromebook?
Give each person their own Google profile, and for children use Google Family Link, which lets a parent manage Play installs and filter websites on supervised accounts. For your own profile, a gambling blocking tool or a bank's gambling block adds a firm barrier if you want one. GAMSTOP lets you self-exclude from all UK-licensed online casinos at once. Never leave a casino logged in on a shared profile. Our guide comparing gambling blocking apps sets out the options.
Gambling can be addictive. Free, confidential help is available 24 hours a day from the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133. Get support from GamCare or NHS gambling support, or block yourself from all UK-licensed gambling sites with GAMSTOP.
