Casino apps on Huawei phones depend on one thing: whether your model has Google Play. Huawei handsets launched before late 2019 usually do, and can install licensed UK apps normally; newer ones don’t, so the safe route is the casino’s mobile website, which gives you the same account, balance and limits as the app.
Huawei phones launched from the Mate 30 series onwards ship without Google Play, so UK casino apps can’t be installed the usual way.
Older models such as the P30 series kept Google services and install casino apps from Play as normal.
Avoid APK files and Google-emulator workarounds for gambling apps; the mobile website is safer and fully featured.
Google Pay isn’t available without Google services, so use a debit card, PayPal or Pay by Bank where the casino accepts them.

Can you get casino apps on Huawei phones in the UK?
It depends on the model. In 2019 the United States placed trade restrictions on Huawei, and phones the company launched after that, starting with the Mate 30 series in autumn 2019, were sold without Google Mobile Services. That means no Google Play Store, no Google account sign-in for apps and no Google Pay. Because licensed UK operators publish their Android casino apps on Google Play, a newer Huawei can’t install them the normal way.
Handsets that launched earlier, such as the P30 and Mate 20 families, were certified with Google services before the restrictions and still have the Play Store. On those, casino apps install exactly as they would on any Android phone. Whichever you have, no casino app is certified for a specific Huawei model; the operator sets a minimum Android version and Play decides whether your phone meets it.
How to tell if your Huawei phone has Google Play
The quickest check is to look for the Play Store icon in your app drawer and open it. If it loads and lets you sign in to a Google account, you can install casino apps from it. If there’s no Play icon, or only AppGallery and Petal Search, your phone doesn’t have Google services.

How to play on a Huawei phone through the mobile website
Every UK-licensed casino runs a full mobile site. You get the same games, cashier, promotions and safer gambling tools as in the app, because both are front ends to one account. On a Huawei without Google services, this is the route to use.
Open Huawei Browser, or another browser you’ve installed from AppGallery.
Type the casino’s address directly rather than tapping an advert or search result, so you land on the genuine site.
Check the footer shows the Gambling Commission licence and the company name; you can confirm it on the public register.
Log in or register, then complete age and identity checks; you need these before demo games or deposits.
Open the browser menu and add the page to your home screen so it opens in one tap next time.
Set a deposit limit in the account’s safer gambling section before your first deposit.
AppGallery is Huawei’s own store and carries thousands of mainstream apps. We couldn’t confirm that any of our five partner casinos publishes a UK real-money app there, and the partners’ own sites point to the App Store and Google Play. If you do find a casino app on AppGallery, check three things before entering any details: the developer name matches the company on the UKGC register, the casino’s own website links to that listing, and the app carries an 18+ age rating.
Petal Search, which comes with newer Huawei phones, can find APK files from third-party websites. That’s a different thing from a store listing, and the next section explains why it’s a poor idea for a gambling app.
Why APKs and Google workarounds are a bad fit for gambling apps
Online guides suggest installing Google Play on newer Huawei phones using emulator apps or unofficial Google service replacements. These tools aren’t made or supported by Google or Huawei. They can stop working after an update, and you’d be entering your casino login, identity documents and bank details inside software you can’t vouch for.
An APK downloaded from a website skips Google Play’s checks, so you can’t easily tell an operator’s file from a copy with a fake login screen.
Casino apps check the device and location; workarounds can trigger errors that lock you out mid-session.
If something goes wrong, the operator’s support team can only help with the official app or website.
You gain nothing, because the mobile website has the same games, offers and tools.
Paying and withdrawing on a Huawei without Google Pay

HarmonyOS, EMUI and what changes outside the UK
Huawei phones sold in Europe run EMUI, Huawei’s Android-based software, without Google services. In China, Huawei has moved its phones to a version of HarmonyOS that no longer runs Android apps at all. If you buy a Huawei imported from China, expect even fewer app options, and remember that UK casino accounts are for players in Great Britain anyway. Using a UK casino abroad is covered on UK casino apps abroad.
Staying logged in and managing alerts on Huawei
EMUI manages background apps automatically to save battery, including your browser. If a casino site keeps asking you to log in after you switch away, open Settings > Battery > App launch, find the browser and change it from automatic to manual management, leaving it allowed to run in the background. Live dealer streams are the heaviest load; the battery drain page explains why.
Websites can send notifications too, if you allow them. When a casino site asks, think about whether you want offers arriving on your lock screen. You can switch site notifications off later in the browser’s settings. Our notifications guide explains which alerts are worth keeping, such as withdrawal and verification messages.

Limits and blocks for Huawei users
Deposit limits, time-outs, reality checks and self-exclusion work in the browser exactly as in an app, because they’re set on your account. Huawei’s Digital Balance feature can limit how long you spend in the browser, and GAMSTOP blocks you from every UKGC-licensed casino at once. The National Gambling Helpline is free and open 24/7 on 0808 8020 133. Gambling should cost no more than you’re happy to spend on entertainment, and the house edge means losses are the likely outcome over time. See our safer gambling hub.
Licensed casinos Huawei owners can use in the browser

Casumo offers a 50% bonus up to £100 on a first deposit of £20 or more, wagered 10x within 7 days with a £5 max bet. Terms apply.

Frequently asked questions
Why can’t I find casino apps on my Huawei phone?
Most likely because your Huawei doesn’t have Google Play. Models launched from autumn 2019 onwards were sold without Google services, and UK casino operators publish their Android apps on Google Play. Huawei’s AppGallery is a separate store and, as far as we could confirm, none of our partners lists a UK real-money app there. The simplest fix is to use the casino’s mobile website, which runs the same account, games and offers. See casino apps not on Google Play for other reasons an app might be missing.
Is it safe to install Google Play on a Huawei phone with GBox or similar tools?
It isn’t something we’d recommend for gambling. Those tools are unofficial, aren’t supported by Google or Huawei, and ask you to sign in to a Google account through software you can’t easily vet. You’d then be entering casino logins, identity documents and payment details on top of that. Updates can also break them, logging you out at awkward moments. The casino’s mobile website gives you everything the app does without the risk. Our casino app safety guide explains what to look for.
Does the P30 Pro have Google Play for casino apps?
Yes. The P30 family launched in early 2019 with Google services and kept the Play Store, so it can install licensed UK casino apps normally. Whether a specific app supports it depends on the operator’s minimum Android version, which Play checks for you when you open the listing. The P30 is now an older phone, so if an app says it isn’t compatible, the casino’s website is the alternative. Our older phones guide covers what to expect from ageing handsets.
Can I use Google Pay at a casino on a Huawei?
Not on Huawei models without Google services, because Google Pay depends on them. On older Huawei phones that have Google Play, Google Wallet works if the phone has NFC and your bank supports it. On newer models, use a debit card, PayPal or Pay by Bank instead; Coral and Ladbrokes list all three, while noting PayPal deposits don’t qualify for their welcome spins. Credit cards can’t be used to gamble in Great Britain. Our payment methods hub compares the options.
Is playing in the browser on a Huawei as safe as an app?
Yes, if you’re on the genuine site. A licensed casino’s website uses the same encryption, verification and account protections as its app, and your limits and self-exclusion apply in both. The main risk is landing on a copycat page, so type the address yourself, check the licence details in the footer, and look the company up on the Gambling Commission register. Avoid saving your password in shared browsers. More on safe casino apps and keeping your account secure.
Will a Huawei update add the Play Store back?
No. Google Play has to be licensed from Google when a phone is certified, and Huawei models launched after the 2019 restrictions weren’t. A software update can’t change that, and nothing has been announced that would. The reverse is also true: older Huawei phones that shipped with Play keep it after updates. If having casino apps from a mainstream store matters to you, that’s worth weighing when you next change phone. Until then, the mobile casino route through the browser covers everything.
Can I get casino app notifications on a Huawei without the app?
Partly. Many casino websites can send browser notifications if you allow them when prompted, and important account messages also arrive by email or SMS. Operators decide what they send, so it won’t always match the app exactly. Think before allowing promotional alerts on your lock screen; you can turn them off in the browser’s site settings and in the account’s marketing preferences. Our guide to casino app marketing preferences shows how to cut promotional messages while keeping the useful ones.
Do Huawei Mate X foldables work with casino websites?
Yes, through the browser. Mate X models launched after 2019 don’t have Google Play, so casino apps can’t be installed the usual way, but casino websites are built to resize, so the inner screen gives you a tablet-like lobby and bigger live tables. Rotate or unfold and reload if a game’s layout looks squashed. No site is certified for a particular model. Our page on casino apps on foldable phones covers screen switching in more detail.
