If casino app games won’t load but the app itself opens, the problem is usually between your phone and the game provider’s server: a weak connection, a blocked web component, an out-of-date app, or an account restriction on that game. Start by switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data, turning off any VPN or content blocker, then updating the app and your phone.
When the lobby opens but a game doesn’t, the game’s own stream from the provider is usually what’s failing.
Quick fixes: switch network, turn off VPNs and content blockers, close and reopen, then update.
On Android, an out-of-date Android System WebView or Chrome can stop games rendering.
Account issues such as pending verification, an active bonus or a time-out can block specific games.
A game that freezes mid-spin has normally settled on the server; check your history before replaying.

Why casino app games won’t load when the app opens fine
A casino app is really two layers. The lobby, menus and cashier come from the casino’s own system. Each game, though, is usually supplied by a separate studio and loaded into the app from that studio’s servers, often inside a built-in web view. So the lobby can work perfectly while a slot or live table sits on a loading bar, shows a black screen or throws an error code.
That split is useful when troubleshooting. If every game fails, the cause is probably your phone or connection. If only one game or one provider’s games fail, it’s more likely that game, the provider, or a restriction on your account. If the whole app won’t open, our casino app not loading page is the better starting point, and casino app keeps crashing covers apps that close themselves.

Quick fixes to try first, in order
Switch network: if you’re on Wi-Fi, try mobile data, and vice versa. Public or work Wi-Fi often filters gambling content.
Turn off any VPN, iCloud Private Relay, ad blocker or Private DNS setting, then try again.
Close the app completely from the app switcher, not just the home button, and reopen it.
Open a different game from a different studio. If that works, the problem is specific to the first game.
Update the casino app from the App Store or Google Play.
Restart your phone, which clears stuck network and memory states.
Update your phone’s operating system if an update is waiting.
Most game-loading problems are solved within the first three steps. Our full casino app troubleshooting guide goes further if they aren’t.
Fixes specific to iPhone and iPad
Low Power Mode can slow background processes and animations; switch it off in Control Centre while playing.
Low Data Mode in Wi-Fi or Mobile Data settings can stop large game files downloading.
Screen Time content restrictions can block web content inside apps; check Content & Privacy Restrictions if games show a blank page.
Storage below a gigabyte or so can stop games caching files; delete unused apps or offload them.
Old iOS versions can rule out the latest app version. The App Store listings for Coral and Ladbrokes require iOS 18 or later, 10bet iOS 16, and PlayOJO and Casumo iOS 15.
If your iPhone can’t install the current version of an app, older versions may stop loading games as the casino updates its systems. The casino apps for older phones guide explains your options, including the mobile website, and our casino app update required page covers forced updates.
Fixes specific to Android phones
Android System WebView and Chrome. Many apps load games through WebView. Open Google Play, search for Android System WebView and Chrome, and install any updates.
Clear the app’s cache. Settings, Apps, the casino app, Storage, Clear cache. This keeps your login but removes stored game files that may be corrupted.
Battery optimisation. Aggressive battery savers on some brands pause apps; set the casino app to Unrestricted or Not optimised.
Data Saver. Allow unrestricted data for the casino app if Data Saver is on.
Private DNS. Some ad-blocking DNS services block game servers; set Private DNS to Automatic to test.
Brand-specific advice is in our device guides, such as Samsung Galaxy and Xiaomi and Redmi, which cover each manufacturer’s battery and data settings. The app cache glossary entry explains what clearing it does.
Account reasons a game won’t open
Sometimes the game is fine and the casino is deliberately stopping it from opening for your account. The message isn’t always clear, so these are worth checking.
Verification pending. UK casinos can’t let you play, even in demo mode, until your age is confirmed. See demo mode needs verification.
Bonus restrictions. Some bonuses exclude certain games while active; opening one may show an error or warn you about the terms.
Time-out or limit reached. If you’ve hit a session or time limit, games are locked until it resets.
Free spins on a specific game. Spins credited to one slot won’t appear in others; open the named game.
Game not available in Great Britain. Some games or versions aren’t licensed for British players, and bonus buy features are switched off here.
Live dealer games stream video continuously, so they are the most sensitive to connection quality. If a live table opens but shows a spinning wheel or a frozen dealer, lower the video quality from the game’s settings menu, close other apps that use data, and move closer to your router or onto a stronger mobile signal. Avoid placing bets while the stream is stuttering: betting windows close on the dealer’s timing, not yours.
When a game hangs after you’ve pressed Spin, the bet has usually already reached the server and the result has been decided there. Closing the app doesn’t cancel it.
Wait a few seconds before tapping anything else.
If nothing changes, close the app fully and reopen the same game; many slots resume or replay the unfinished round.
Check your balance and the game or transaction history for that round.
If the history doesn’t match what you expected, note the time, game and round ID and contact support.
Our guide to checking your play history shows where round-by-round records are kept.
When to contact support, and what to send
If quick fixes haven’t worked, or only one game fails for a long time, contact the casino. A clear report gets a faster answer. Include your phone model, iOS or Android version, the app version (shown in the App Store, Google Play or the app’s settings), the game name, the time it failed, any error code and a screenshot. Tell them whether it fails on Wi-Fi and mobile data, and whether the same game works on the mobile website.

Frequently asked questions
Why do casino app games keep loading forever?
Usually because the connection to the game studio’s server is weak or filtered. Each game loads separately from the casino’s lobby, so the app can open while a game stalls. Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data, turn off any VPN or ad blocker, and close and reopen the app. If only one studio’s games fail, that provider may be having an outage. Our casino app troubleshooting guide lists further steps.
Why do slots load on Wi-Fi but not on mobile data?
Check that mobile data is allowed for the casino app in your phone’s settings, and turn off Low Data Mode on iPhone or Data Saver on Android, which can stop large game files downloading. A weak signal can also time out before a game finishes loading. Once a slot is cached, it uses little data per spin, so loading it first on Wi-Fi can help. See casino app data usage for typical figures.
Why does a casino game show a black screen on my phone?
A black or blank screen usually means the game’s graphics or web component failed to start. Close the app fully from the app switcher and reopen it, update the casino app, and on Android update Android System WebView and Chrome from Google Play. Low storage and power-saving modes can also cause it. If it persists on one game only, report it to support with your phone model and app version. The app cache entry explains clearing stored files.
Can a VPN stop casino games loading?
Yes. A VPN makes your connection appear to come from somewhere else, and licensed UK casinos and game providers may block it or show a location error. Using a VPN to disguise your location also usually breaks the casino’s terms. Ad-blocking VPNs and Private DNS services can block game servers outright. Turn them off before playing. Our page on using a VPN on casino apps explains the rules.
Why won’t demo games load in my casino app?
In the UK, free demo games can only be played after the casino has verified your age, a rule in place since May 2019. If your account isn’t fully verified, demo versions won’t open or will ask you to log in. Complete verification in the account menu, then try again. Some games also aren’t offered in demo mode at all. The demo mode verification page explains why.
What happens to my bet if a slot freezes?
The bet and its result are normally recorded on the server as soon as you press Spin, so a frozen screen doesn’t cancel or change the outcome. Close the app, reopen the same game and many slots will finish or replay the round. Then check your balance and game history. If anything doesn’t add up, contact support with the time, game name and round ID. The guide to how casino app games work explains the server side.
Do I need the latest iOS to load casino games?
You need whatever the app’s current version requires, which is listed on its App Store page. Coral and Ladbrokes require iOS 18 or later, 10bet iOS 16, and PlayOJO and Casumo iOS 15. An older iPhone may keep an outdated app version, and games can stop loading as the casino updates its systems. The mobile website is a fallback. Our casino apps for older phones guide explains your options.
Why can’t I open a specific game in my casino app?
If other games work, the casino may be restricting that one for your account. Common reasons include an active bonus that excludes it, free spins tied to a different named slot, a time-out or limit you’ve reached, or the game not being available to players in Great Britain. The provider may also be doing maintenance. Check your bonus terms and messages, then ask live chat. See game weighting in casino apps for bonus-related restrictions.
