The casino app maximum stake in the UK is £5 per spin on online slots if you’re 25 or over, and £2 per spin if you’re 18 to 24. These legal caps apply in every licensed app and website. Table and live dealer games have no legal stake cap, but each table sets its own limits, and bonuses can add a lower max-bet rule on top.
Online slots are capped at £5 a spin for players aged 25+ (since 9 April 2025) and £2 for 18–24s (since 21 May 2025).
The cap is applied to your account from your verified date of birth, in the app and on the website alike.
Table games, live casino and game shows have no legal stake cap, but every table has its own limits.
An active bonus can set a lower maximum bet, such as Casumo’s £5 per bet rule.
The cap counts the whole stake for a spin, including any extra bet or ante option.

Casino app maximum stake UK: the legal slot limits
Two Gambling Commission rules set the most you can stake on a single online slot spin in Great Britain. From 9 April 2025, players aged 25 and over have been limited to £5 per spin. From 21 May 2025, players aged 18 to 24 have been limited to £2 per spin. Before these dates there was no legal stake limit on online slots at all.

The caps apply identically in apps and on websites, and to every licensed operator. Our guide to UK stake limits on mobile slots covers the background to the rule, and the stake limit glossary entry gives the quick definition.
What counts towards the maximum stake on a slot
The cap applies to the total amount you put on one spin, not the line bet or coin value shown in small print. On a 20-line slot, a 25p line bet is a £5 total stake. If a game offers an extra bet or ante option that raises the cost of each spin, that extra counts too.

In practice the bet selector won’t offer amounts above your cap, so you can’t exceed it by accident. Our guide on reading a paytable on mobile explains how line bets, coin values and totals appear on a phone screen, and ante bet covers that feature.
How a casino app knows which limit applies to you
Your cap comes from the date of birth confirmed when your account was verified. The app reads it from your account, not your phone, so the same limit applies if you switch to a tablet or the website. When you turn 25, the higher cap applies from then on; you don’t need to ask for it.
Open any slot in the app and tap the stake or bet button, often shown as a coin stack or a plus and minus control beside the Spin button.
Scroll the stake options to the top; the highest value offered is your cap for that game.
If your highest option is £2 and you are 25 or over, check that your date of birth is correct under account details.
If it’s wrong, contact support; you may be asked for ID to correct it.
Some games have a lower maximum than the legal cap, set by the developer or the casino. A penny slot might top out at £1, for example. The penny slots apps page looks at lower-stake games.
Maximum stakes on table games, live casino and game shows
The £5 and £2 caps cover online slots only. Roulette, blackjack, baccarat, poker-style games and live game shows have no legal stake cap in Great Britain. Instead, every table has its own minimum and maximum, shown on the lobby tile or the table’s info panel. Live tables in particular can run from very low minimums to much higher maximums.

Non-slot games still follow UK design rules: since 17 January 2025 there’s no autoplay or turbo play, and each round must last at least 5 seconds. Our live casino apps and roulette apps guides show where table limits sit on a phone screen.
Bonus max-bet rules: a second, lower limit
Many bonuses with wagering add their own maximum bet while the bonus is active. Breaking it can cost you the bonus and its winnings, even if the stake was within the legal cap. Casumo’s welcome terms, for instance, set a maximum of £5 per bet while the bonus is active.
Here’s how that works with real figures. Deposit £40 at Casumo and the 50% match adds £20 of bonus. Wagering is 10x the bonus, so £200 of qualifying bets within 7 days. At £1 a spin that’s 200 spins; at the £5 maximum it’s 40. A higher stake doesn’t make wagering more likely to succeed, it just gets through it faster, with the same house edge on every spin. The max bet rules guide explains how these terms are enforced.
Stake limits, spin speed and what a session really costs
UK slots must take at least 2.5 seconds per spin and can’t offer autoplay, turbo or slam-stop. Those rules work alongside the stake caps to slow the pace of play. Even so, the numbers add up quickly on a phone.
100 spins at 20p is £20 staked.
100 spins at £2 is £200 staked.
100 spins at £5 is £500 staked.
Staked isn’t the same as lost, because wins return part of it, but over time the house edge means losses are likely. Setting a deposit limit in the app is the simplest way to keep the total within budget, and UK slot design rules on mobile explains the spin-speed rules.
Deposit caps and other limits that aren’t stake limits
People sometimes confuse stake limits with other maximums in the cashier. Coral and Ladbrokes, for example, publish a maximum of £2,000 per deposit in the UK. That is a payment limit, not a betting one. Your own deposit, loss and time limits are separate again, and you set those yourself in the app’s safer gambling menu. Our casino app limits guide shows where they are.
Is the maximum stake different on iPhone and Android?
No. Stake caps are applied by the casino and the game provider’s servers, so they’re the same on any device. What differs is the layout: on a small phone in portrait mode, the stake control is often tucked into a menu, while on a tablet or in landscape it sits beside the Spin button. If you can’t find it, look for a coin or chip icon. The portrait vs landscape mobile slots guide shows the common layouts.
Bonuses that spell out their stake rules
Casumo’s 50% bonus up to £100 needs a £20+ first deposit, carries 10x wagering within 7 days and a £5 maximum bet while active. 10bet’s 100% bonus up to £25 needs the first deposit within 7 days of joining and 10x wagering on slots within 3 days, with bonus winnings capped at £1,000. Coral gives 100 free spins at a fixed 10p after you bet £10 on slots. 18+, terms apply.
Casumo and 10bet’s match bonuses are shown with their stake rules alongside, and Coral’s spins are a fixed 10p each, well under either legal cap. 18+, T&Cs apply.

Frequently asked questions
What is the maximum bet on slots in the UK?
The maximum is £5 per spin for players aged 25 and over, in force since 9 April 2025, and £2 per spin for players aged 18 to 24, since 21 May 2025. These Gambling Commission limits apply to online slots at every licensed operator, in apps and on websites. The cap covers the whole stake for a spin, including any extra bet or ante. Read the full background in UK stake limits on mobile slots.
Why can I only bet £2 a spin in my casino app?
Most likely because your account shows you as aged 18 to 24, which carries a £2 per spin limit on online slots since 21 May 2025. Some games also set a lower maximum of their own. If you’re 25 or over and still see £2 as the top stake on every slot, check the date of birth in your account details and contact support if it’s wrong. See how casino apps check your age for how age is confirmed.
Do stake limits apply to roulette and blackjack apps?
No, the £5 and £2 legal caps only apply to online slots. Roulette, blackjack, baccarat and live game shows have no legal per-bet limit in Great Britain, but every table sets its own minimum and maximum, shown in the lobby or table information. Since 17 January 2025, these games also can’t offer autoplay or turbo, and rounds must last at least 5 seconds. Our blackjack apps guide shows where table limits appear on a phone.
Does the ante or extra bet count towards the £5 limit?
Yes. The limit applies to the total cost of one spin, so an ante or extra bet that increases the price of each spin is included. If a game’s ante adds 25%, the highest base stake you can choose at the £5 cap is £4. The bet selector in a UK app is built so the total can’t exceed your cap. The ante bet glossary entry explains how these options work.
Can I bet more than £5 a spin if I have a bonus?
No, and usually the reverse applies. The legal £5 or £2 cap on slots still applies with a bonus, and many bonuses add a lower maximum bet while active. Casumo’s welcome offer, for example, limits bets to £5 while the bonus is active, and breaking a bonus max-bet rule can cost you the bonus and its winnings. Our max bet rules on casino apps guide explains how to check. 18+, terms apply.
Are stake limits the same on the casino app and the website?
Yes. Stake limits are applied to your account and enforced by the game servers, so they’re identical in the app, on the mobile site and on a desktop. Switching device or platform can’t change them. The only thing that changes is how the bet selector looks on your screen, which can be tucked behind a coin or chip icon in portrait mode. The app or mobile site guide compares the two formats.
Do free spins count towards the maximum stake?
Free spins come with a fixed value set by the offer, which is always within the legal cap. Coral, Ladbrokes and PlayOJO welcome spins, for example, are worth 10p each, so 100 spins represent £10 of play. You can’t raise the value of a free spin, and the game will lock the stake while you play them. The free spins glossary entry explains how spin values work. 18+, terms apply.
Do stake limits apply to Slingo or other slot-style games?
It depends on how the game is classified, so the bet selector in the app is the reliable guide. Standard online slots, including Megaways and cluster-pays games, are covered by the £5 and £2 caps. Hybrid games such as Slingo, instant-win games and table games can be treated differently. If a game lets you stake above the slot cap, the operator isn’t treating it as a slot for this rule. Our Slingo apps page covers that format.
