Mastercard debit casino apps

Mastercard debit casino apps take deposits from the Debit Mastercard linked to your current account, and Coral, Ladbrokes, Casumo and 10bet all publish debit card payments in their cashiers. A Mastercard debit deposit usually qualifies for welcome offers. Payout speeds differ from Visa, though, because the Fast Funds times Coral and Ladbrokes publish are a Visa service.

Key takeaways

  • Coral, Ladbrokes and Casumo name Mastercard in their deposit lists; 10bet accepts debit cards.
  • Many app-based banks, including Monzo and Starling, issue Debit Mastercards, so check your card before assuming it’s Visa.
  • Card payouts are quoted at up to 2 days at Casumo and up to 2 business days at 10bet after approval.
  • Mastercard credit cards are banned for UK gambling, including through Apple Pay and Google Pay.
  • Your bank may ask you to approve a casino deposit in its app through Mastercard Identity Check.

Mastercard debit and casino apps: the basics

A Debit Mastercard draws money straight from your current account, which is why UK casino apps accept it while refusing credit cards. Since 14 April 2020, licensed operators haven’t been allowed to take gambling payments on credit, whether the card is typed in, stored in Apple Pay or Google Pay, or used to fund an e-wallet.

In the UK, Mastercard debit is especially common among app-based banks. Monzo and Starling, for example, both issue Debit Mastercards, as do a number of high-street banks. If you opened an account through an app in recent years, there is a good chance your card is a Mastercard. Our Monzo and casino apps and Starling Bank and casino apps pages cover those banks’ gambling controls specifically.

The Coral and Ladbrokes help centres also list Maestro, an older Mastercard debit brand that UK banks have largely replaced with Debit Mastercard. If you still hold a Maestro card, check its expiry date before relying on it. See Coral deposit methods for Coral’s full list.

How to check your card is a Debit Mastercard

  1. Look at the front or back of the card for the word DEBIT near the Mastercard logo.
  2. Open your banking app, tap the card, and check whether it is linked to your current account or a credit account.
  3. In Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, tap the card to see its name; banks usually label debit cards clearly.
  4. If you have both a credit and a debit Mastercard in your phone wallet, set the debit one as default before depositing.
  5. Still unsure? Use your bank’s in-app chat to confirm the card type before you try a casino deposit.

A credit card declined by a casino isn’t a fault: the rule exists to stop people gambling with borrowed money. Don’t try to route credit through an e-wallet; that is covered by the same ban.

Depositing with Mastercard debit on iPhone or Android

  1. Sign in to the casino app and tap Deposit.
  2. Pick Debit card, Mastercard or Card, depending on the app’s wording, and tap Add new card the first time.
  3. Enter the card number, expiry date and the three-digit code from the back, or let your phone autofill saved card details.
  4. Choose the amount, staying inside your deposit limit and the app’s per-deposit maximum.
  5. If your banking app sends a Mastercard Identity Check request, open it and approve with Face ID, fingerprint or passcode.
  6. Return to the casino app and confirm the deposit has appeared before opening a game.

Mastercard Identity Check is Mastercard’s version of the extra security step for online card payments. On a phone it usually means a quick hop to your banking app and back. If the casino app seems frozen at that stage, the approval is probably waiting in your bank app. First-time users can follow the wider walkthrough in first deposit in a casino app.

How long Mastercard debit withdrawals take

Every casino payout has two stages: the operator’s review, then the transfer to your card. Published figures for card payouts, treated as typical rather than promised:

AppReview stageCard transfer after approval
CasumoUsually within hours; policy allows up to 3 daysUp to 2 days
10betNot published separatelyUp to 2 business days
Coral / LadbrokesInternal review, then instantly to five banking days depending on methodFast Funds times published for Visa only
PlayOJONot publishedCheck the cashier

Coral’s and Ladbrokes’ up-to-4-hour figure is specific to Visa Fast Funds, so don’t assume a Debit Mastercard payout will follow the same timing; the apps’ own withdrawal screens show what applies to your card. If speed matters most, fast payout casino apps compares every route, and the Ladbrokes withdrawals page has that operator’s detail.

How to withdraw to your Debit Mastercard

  1. Complete identity and address checks before your first withdrawal.
  2. Tap your balance, then Withdraw.
  3. Choose the Mastercard you deposited with; under closed-loop payments, deposits are returned to the same card first.
  4. Enter an amount above the cashier’s minimum and confirm.
  5. Track the request from pending to approved in the app’s transaction history.

Since 31 October 2021, a UK casino can’t let you reverse a withdrawal to carry on playing. If a payout sits in pending longer than the app’s stated time, see casino app withdrawal pending.

Mastercard debit and casino app welcome offers

Debit cards are the standard qualifying method for UK welcome offers. Ladbrokes, first on this page: 18+, new customers, deposit and spend £10 on slots to receive 50 free spins a day for the first 10 days, up to 500 spins at 10p each (£50 of spins), claimed from the in-app inbox before 23:59 each day, valid 7 days, no wagering. Coral: 18+, new players, deposit and bet £10 on slots for 100 free spins at 10p each, 48 hours to accept, 7 days to use, no wagering on winnings; certain debit cards are excluded, so read the terms.

Casumo names Mastercard among its methods and offers a 50% match up to £100: 18+, opt-in, £20 minimum deposit, wager the bonus 10x within 7 days, £5 max bet with a bonus active, payment restrictions apply. On a £50 deposit that is £25 of bonus and £250 of wagering. Every offer is the same in the app and on the website. Our matched deposit bonus apps page explains the maths further.

Is Mastercard debit safe in casino apps?

With a UKGC-licensed operator, yes. Card data is handled under industry security standards, many payments carry a Mastercard Identity Check, and your bank watches for fraud. Practical steps on your phone matter as much:

  • Install casino apps only from the App Store or Google Play; how to check a casino app developer shows what to look for.
  • Use biometric log-in so nobody else can deposit from your phone.
  • App banks let you freeze a card instantly; do so if your phone or card goes missing.
  • Prefer Apple Pay or Google Pay if you don’t want the casino to hold your card number; see Google Pay casino apps.

Blocking Mastercard debit gambling payments

Most UK banks, and app banks in particular, offer a gambling block in the card settings. With it switched on, Mastercard payments to casinos are declined, and many banks make you wait before switching it off. That delay is deliberate and useful. Our bank gambling blocks guide compares how they work.

A deposit is money spent on entertainment, and the house edge means losses are the likely outcome over time. Set a deposit limit in each app; casino app limits shows where. Where to use Mastercard debit in a UK casino app

Ladbrokes, Coral and Casumo all name Mastercard in their deposit lists, and a debit card is the usual way to qualify for their welcome offers. All three are licensed by the UK Gambling Commission and 18+ only; terms apply, including payment restrictions you should read in the app.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use a Mastercard debit card on UK casino apps?

Yes. Debit Mastercards are widely accepted by UK-licensed casino apps. Coral, Ladbrokes and Casumo name Mastercard in their published deposit methods, and 10bet accepts debit cards. PlayOJO’s method list isn’t in our sources, so check its cashier. Credit Mastercards can’t be used, because gambling on credit has been banned in Great Britain since April 2020. If a card is refused, confirm it is debit in your banking app. Compare networks on debit card casino apps.

How long do Mastercard debit casino withdrawals take?

Usually up to two days after the casino approves the request. At Casumo, card payouts are quoted at up to 2 days; at 10bet, up to 2 business days. The fast card timings at Coral and Ladbrokes apply to Visa Fast Funds only, so a Mastercard payout there may take longer; their general guidance is instantly to five banking days depending on method. First withdrawals often need ID checks first. The stages are broken down in how long do casino app withdrawals take.

Is my Monzo or Starling card a Mastercard?

Both banks issue Debit Mastercards, so in most cases yes. You can check by looking for the Mastercard logo and the word DEBIT on the card, or by tapping the card in your banking app. Both banks also offer gambling blocks in their apps, which decline payments to casinos when switched on. That is worth knowing before you deposit, whether you want the block or not. Our Monzo and casino apps page explains how its block works.

What is Mastercard Identity Check?

It is Mastercard’s security step for online card payments, also known as 3-D Secure. When you deposit, your bank may ask you to approve the payment in its app or with a one-time code, confirming it is really you. On a phone, that usually means a short switch to your banking app and back to the casino app. If the deposit seems stuck, look for a pending approval in the bank app. Read casino app security for other protections worth switching on.

Do Mastercard debit deposits qualify for welcome bonuses?

Usually, yes. Debit cards are the standard qualifying method for UK casino welcome offers, while e-wallets and prepaid cards are excluded more often. Ladbrokes, Coral and Casumo name Mastercard as a deposit method, though Coral says certain debit cards don’t qualify for its spins and Casumo says payment restrictions apply. Read the full terms in the app before depositing. Our debit card casino app bonus page goes into the detail. 18+, terms apply.

Can I use a Mastercard credit card through Google Pay at a casino?

No. The ban on gambling with credit cards covers cards stored in Google Pay and Apple Pay, as well as e-wallets funded by credit. If your default card in Google Wallet is a credit card, the casino will decline the deposit. Add your Debit Mastercard to the wallet and select it at the payment screen. The rule has applied since 14 April 2020 to all UK-licensed operators. See Google Pay casino apps for the Android steps.

Why does a casino app list Maestro?

Because some help centres still include it from when Maestro was common in the UK. Both Entain brands, Coral and Ladbrokes, list Maestro alongside Visa and Mastercard. Most UK banks have since replaced Maestro cards with Debit Mastercard or Visa debit, so few people still carry one. If you do, check that it hasn’t expired and that the cashier accepts it; if not, use your current debit card. For other card questions, see casino app change payment method.

Can I stop my Mastercard debit card being used for gambling?

Yes. Most UK banks let you switch on a gambling block in the card settings of their app, which declines payments to gambling merchants, including casino app deposits. Many make you wait before you can turn it off again. You can combine it with GAMSTOP, which self-excludes you from all UK-licensed gambling sites and apps, and with blocking software on your phone. All are free. See how to block gambling apps on Android for device-level options.

Are there fees for using Mastercard debit at casino apps?

Normally not, for payments in pounds. The Entain brands, Coral and Ladbrokes, state they charge no withdrawal fees. Casumo charges £3 on withdrawals under £10 and nothing at £10 or more. 10bet and PlayOJO don’t publish a fee figure. Your bank is unlikely to charge for a sterling debit card payment, but could if a payment is processed in another currency. Check the cashier notes before you confirm. More on payout thresholds is in casino app minimum withdrawal.
