Visa debit casino apps take payments straight from your current account, and four of the five UK-licensed apps we cover publish debit cards in their cashiers, with PlayOJO’s list shown in its app. It is also the method most likely to qualify for welcome offers and, at Coral and Ladbrokes, one of the quickest ways to be paid, through Visa Fast Funds. Visa credit cards, by contrast, can’t be used to gamble in Great Britain.
Coral, Ladbrokes, Casumo and 10bet publish debit card payments, and Visa debit is the usual way to qualify for welcome offers.
Coral and Ladbrokes publish Visa Fast Funds payouts: approval usually in a couple of hours, then typically up to 4 hours to your bank.
Visa credit cards are banned for UK gambling, including through Apple Pay and Google Pay.
Casumo quotes up to 2 days for card payouts after approval; 10bet up to 2 business days.
Banks let you block gambling on your Visa debit card in their app, which casino apps must respect.

How Visa debit works in casino apps
A Visa debit card spends money already in your current account, so a casino deposit leaves your bank balance straight away. In a casino app, you add the card once in the cashier, typing the long number, expiry date and the three-digit security code on the back, and then reuse it for later deposits with only the security code or a biometric check. Your bank may ask you to confirm the first payment in its own app, a step known as Visa Secure.
Visa debit is the backbone of UK casino payments because almost every adult with a bank account has one. It is also the reference method for most offers, and the one casinos are least likely to exclude. Our broader debit card casino apps guide compares Visa with Mastercard debit, and Mastercard debit casino apps covers the other network in detail.
Visa debit vs Visa credit: why only one works
Since 14 April 2020, UK-licensed operators can’t accept gambling payments made with credit cards. That applies to Visa credit cards typed in directly, and to credit cards used through Apple Pay, Google Pay or an e-wallet such as PayPal. The rule exists so people don’t gamble with borrowed money.

How to deposit with Visa debit on your phone
Open the casino app, sign in and tap Deposit or the plus sign next to your balance.
Choose Debit card or Visa. If it’s your first time, tap Add card.
Enter the 16-digit number, expiry date and security code. Some iPhones offer to scan the card with the camera.
Type the amount, staying within your deposit limit and any per-deposit cap.
Confirm in your banking app if your bank asks for Visa Secure approval, using Face ID, fingerprint or passcode.
Wait for the cashier to show the new balance. Card deposits normally appear straight away.
For deposits through your phone wallet instead, the same card can sit behind Apple Pay casino apps or Google Pay casino apps, where the casino receives a token rather than your card number.
Visa Fast Funds: the quick way back to your card
Visa Fast Funds is a Visa service that lets a business push money to an eligible debit card quickly, rather than through the older refund process that could take days. Coral and Ladbrokes both use it. Their help centres say approval usually takes a couple of hours, after which money typically reaches your bank within up to 4 hours; payouts above £2,000 can take longer.
A worked example: request £150 at 10am on a weekday. If the review team approves it by midday, the money could be in your current account by mid-afternoon. If your bank or card doesn’t support Fast Funds, the payout falls back to a slower route. These are typical figures, not promises, and first withdrawals can need extra checks. Compare the options on fast payout casino apps.
Withdrawing to Visa debit, step by step
Make sure your account is verified; upload ID and proof of address if the app asks.
Tap your balance and choose Withdraw.
Select the Visa debit card you deposited with. Under closed-loop payments, card deposits normally go back to the same card first.
Enter the amount and confirm.
Watch the status move from pending to approved, then check your banking app for the credit.
Once confirmed, the request can’t be reversed in the app to keep playing; reverse withdrawals have been banned since 31 October 2021. Our step-by-step guide on how to withdraw from casino apps shows what each status means, and Coral withdrawals covers Coral’s Fast Funds in detail.
Visa debit and casino app welcome offers
Debit cards are the method UK offers are usually built around, which is why we put Coral and Ladbrokes first on this page. Coral: 18+, new players, deposit and bet £10 or more on slots to get 100 free spins on selected games at 10p each (£10 of spins), 48 hours to accept and 7 days to use, no wagering on spin winnings; some debit cards are excluded, so check the terms. Ladbrokes: 18+, new customers, spend £10 on slots and get 50 free spins a day for 10 days (up to 500 spins, £50 of spins in total at 10p each), claimed daily from the in-app inbox before 23:59, valid 7 days, no wagering.
PlayOJO gives 80 free spins on Big Bass Bonanza at 10p each (£8 of spins) on a first deposit of £10 or more, with winnings paid as cash; 18+, new UK customers excluding Northern Ireland. Whatever the offer, the house edge still applies to your own deposit. Our debit card casino app bonus page goes deeper.
Is it safe to use Visa debit in a casino app?
Yes, at licensed casinos. Card payments are processed under industry security standards, Visa Secure adds a bank-app check for many payments, and your bank monitors for fraud. The steps that matter most are on your phone:
Download casino apps only from the App Store or Google Play and check the developer matches the licence holder.
If your card is lost, freeze it in your banking app and remove it from the casino cashier.
Bank gambling blocks and statements
Most UK banks let you block gambling spending on a debit card in their app. Once on, Visa payments to casinos are declined, and many banks add a cooling-off delay before you can turn the block off. If you set one, that is a strong safer gambling tool, not a fault to work around. Read bank gambling blocks and casino apps for how the main banks handle it.
Casino card payments show on your statement under the operator’s trading name, which may differ from the app’s brand. Our guide to how casino app payments show on bank statements explains the descriptors. Remember that deposits are spending on entertainment; losses are likely over time. Frequently asked questions
Can I use a Visa debit card on UK casino apps?
Yes. Visa debit is accepted by UK-licensed casino apps generally, including Coral, Ladbrokes, Casumo and 10bet, which publish debit cards in their help pages; check PlayOJO’s cashier for its list. You add the card in the app’s cashier and may need to approve the first payment in your banking app. Visa credit cards are a different matter: they have been banned for UK gambling since April 2020. If a card is declined, check its type in your banking app. See debit card casino apps for a wider comparison.
How fast are Visa debit casino withdrawals?
From a few hours to two days after approval, depending on the app. Both Entain brands, Coral and Ladbrokes, use Visa Fast Funds: approval usually takes a couple of hours, then money typically arrives within up to 4 hours, with payouts above £2,000 slower. Casumo quotes up to 2 days for card payouts and 10bet up to 2 business days. First withdrawals can take longer because of identity checks. Read how long do casino app withdrawals take for every stage.
What is Visa Fast Funds?
It is a Visa service that lets a business send money to an eligible Visa debit card quickly, often within minutes or hours rather than days. Casinos that use it can pay winnings to your card soon after approving a withdrawal. Fast Funds payouts are published by Coral and Ladbrokes, typically up to 4 hours once approved. Not every bank or card supports it, and slower routes are used when it doesn’t apply. Our instant withdrawal casino apps page explains these timings.
Can I use a Visa credit card in Apple Pay at a casino?
No. The UK ban on gambling with credit cards, in force since 14 April 2020, covers credit cards used through Apple Pay, Google Pay and e-wallets as well as cards typed in directly. If your phone wallet’s default card is a credit card, the casino will decline the payment. Add your Visa debit card to Apple Wallet and choose it for the deposit. Our Apple Pay casino apps guide shows how to switch cards on an iPhone.
Do Visa debit deposits qualify for casino welcome bonuses?
Usually yes, which is why most players use a debit card for their first deposit. All five of our partners build their offers around a deposit, and debit cards are rarely excluded. Coral’s terms do say certain debit cards don’t qualify, so check them in the app. E-wallets and prepaid cards are excluded far more often. Our payment method exclusions page explains the usual clauses. 18+, terms apply.
Why was my Visa debit card declined by a casino app?
The most common reasons are a gambling block on the card, a mistyped number or code, not enough money in the account, or a deposit limit you set. A credit card mistaken for debit will also fail. At Coral and Ladbrokes, deposits above £2,000 are refused, and accounts are limited to three active payment methods in 30 days. Check your banking app first, then the casino’s limits. Our casino app deposit declined page works through each cause.
Are there fees for Visa debit casino payments?
Usually not from the casino or your bank, for payments in pounds. Coral and Ladbrokes state they charge no withdrawal fees. Casumo charges £3 on withdrawals under £10 and nothing above that. 10bet and PlayOJO don’t publish fee figures. Your bank might charge if the casino processes the payment in another currency, which is unusual for UK-licensed apps. Check the cashier note before you confirm. See casino app minimum withdrawal for small-payout rules.
Is it safe to save my Visa debit card in a casino app?
It is generally safe with a licensed operator, but you can reduce exposure. Licensed casinos must handle card data securely, and Visa Secure adds a bank check to many payments. Lock the app with Face ID or a fingerprint so nobody else can deposit from your phone, and use a strong unique password. If you prefer the casino not to hold your card number at all, deposit through Apple Pay or Google Pay instead. More tips are in keep your casino account secure.
Can I block my Visa debit card from casino apps?
Yes, through most UK banks’ apps. Look for a gambling block in the card or spending controls section. Once switched on, the bank declines payments to gambling merchants, including casino app deposits, and many banks make you wait before you can switch it off again. It works alongside GAMSTOP, which excludes you from all UK-licensed gambling sites and apps. Both are free. See bank gambling blocks and casino apps and GAMSTOP and casino apps.
Gambling can be addictive. Free, confidential help is available 24 hours a day from the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133. Get support from GamCare or NHS gambling support, or block yourself from all UK-licensed gambling sites with GAMSTOP.
