Casino app cashback returns part of what you stake or lose to your account, either as cash or as bonus funds. None of the five UK apps we work with runs a classic cashback welcome bonus, but PlayOJO’s OJOplus is close: it pays a small amount back on every real-money bet, win or lose, with no wagering. 18+, T&Cs apply.
Cashback comes in two main forms: a percentage of net losses over a period, or a small percentage of every stake.
PlayOJO’s OJOplus returns money on every real-money bet, win or lose, which you collect into your cash balance.
Cashback paid as a bonus can carry wagering, capped at 10x in the UK since 19 January 2026.
Cashback reduces the cost of play slightly; it doesn’t remove the house edge or make losses likely to be recovered.

What casino app cashback is
Cashback is a promotion that hands back a share of your play. The two common designs work quite differently. Loss-based cashback looks at your net losses over a set period, such as a day or a week, and returns a percentage. Stake-based cashback returns a small slice of every bet you place, whether it wins or loses.
In an app, cashback usually shows up as a separate balance or a message in your inbox or rewards area, and you may need to tap to collect it. Whether it arrives as withdrawable cash or as bonus funds with wagering makes a big difference to its value, so that is the first thing to check in any terms.

Loss-based schemes only pay when you lose, which is why they need careful handling: they can feel like a reason to keep playing. Stake-based schemes pay regardless of results and are simpler to understand. The casino app loyalty rewards page covers points and tier systems that sometimes include cashback.

PlayOJO’s OJOplus: money back on every bet
PlayOJO, run by Skill On Net Limited under UKGC account 39326, builds its brand around no-wagering rewards. OJOplus is its signature feature: each real-money bet adds a small amount to an OJOplus balance, whether the bet wins or loses. You collect that balance into your cash, with no wagering attached. Both the App Store and Google Play listings describe OJOplus money back on every bet.
The rate isn’t a single published figure in the facts we hold, so treat any percentage quoted on other websites with caution and look at the details in the app. Because it is stake-based, OJOplus doesn’t depend on losing, which makes it a cleaner design than loss-based cashback. It is still a small return on play, not a way to come out ahead. The PlayOJO app review covers the rest of the app.
How to find and collect money back in a casino app
Layouts change between app updates, but the route to a money-back balance usually follows the same pattern.
Log in and look at the top of the screen or the account menu for a rewards or OJOplus balance.
Tap it to see how much has built up and whether it is labelled cash or bonus.
Read the linked terms: eligible games, any expiry and whether a collect action is needed.
Tap Collect (or the equivalent button) to move the amount into your cash balance.
Confirm the cash balance has increased, and check your transaction history if it hasn’t.
If a figure looks wrong, the transaction history guide shows where to find a record of each credit, which helps when contacting support.
Cashback maths: why it doesn’t beat the house edge
Take a hypothetical stake-based scheme returning 1% of stakes, and a slot with a 96% RTP. Over £500 of stakes, the expected loss is about £20 (4% of £500), and the cashback returns £5. The cost of play drops from about £20 to about £15. That is a genuine saving, but the expected result is still a loss.
Loss-based cashback works the other way round. A hypothetical 10% weekly cashback on a £50 net loss returns £5. If that £5 comes as a bonus with 10x wagering, you would need to stake £50 more to release it, which costs about £2 at 96% RTP and keeps you playing. Cashback paid as cash is worth more than the same figure paid as a bonus.
These examples are for illustration only and don’t describe any partner’s rates. Individual sessions vary widely around the averages.
Cashback terms to check before you play
Cash or bonus: is the money withdrawable straight away, or subject to wagering requirements?
Basis: losses over a period, or every stake?
Rate and cap: what percentage, and is there a maximum per day or week?
Eligible games: some games may earn less or be excluded.
Collection: does it arrive automatically, or do you have to claim it before an expiry?
Bonus play: do stakes made with bonus funds or free spins count?
The casino app bonus terms page explains how to read terms on a small screen without missing the key lines.
How UK rules apply to cashback offers
Cashback paid as a bonus is treated like any other bonus: since 19 January 2026 its wagering can’t exceed 10x, and it can’t require play on a different gambling product, so casino cashback can’t be triggered by sports bets. Advertising rules also mean cashback mustn’t be presented as a way to recover losses or as taking away the chance of losing.
Operators must also check that promotions are suitable for each customer. If an app’s checks suggest you may be at risk of harm, it can withhold marketing and offers, including cashback. The UK casino app rules guide lists the wider protections.
Cashback and chasing losses: a word of caution
Loss-based cashback can blur the feeling of a loss: it is easy to think a loss ‘doesn’t really count’ because some of it will come back. That thinking can lead to playing longer or depositing again. If you notice yourself playing to trigger or top up cashback, it is a sign to pause.
Deposit limits, reality checks and time-outs are available in every licensed UK app. The signs a casino app is affecting you guide lists warning signs, and the National Gambling Helpline is free on 0808 8020 133, 24 hours a day.

Frequently asked questions
Do any UK casino apps offer cashback?
Some do, usually as a promotion for existing customers or as part of a loyalty scheme, but none of the five apps we work with runs a cashback welcome bonus. The closest feature among them is PlayOJO’s OJOplus, which pays money back on every real-money bet, win or lose, with no wagering. Casumo, Coral and Ladbrokes run rewards programmes that aren’t cashback in the usual sense. See casino app loyalty rewards for how those work.
How does PlayOJO’s OJOplus work?
OJOplus adds a small amount to a separate balance every time you place a real-money bet, regardless of whether the bet wins. You can then collect that balance into your cash account, and it carries no wagering. PlayOJO’s app listings on both stores describe it as money back on every bet. The rate isn’t a single figure in the facts we hold, so check the details inside the app. The PlayOJO promotions page covers the brand’s other rewards. 18+, T&Cs apply.
Is cashback paid in cash or bonus funds?
It depends on the scheme. Some cashback is paid as withdrawable cash, while other offers credit it as bonus funds that must be wagered before withdrawal. In the UK, any wagering on bonus cashback has been capped at 10 times the amount since 19 January 2026. PlayOJO’s OJOplus is collected into your cash balance with no wagering. Always check the terms, as cash is worth more than the same figure in bonus money. The no wagering casino apps page explains why.
Is cashback a good reason to choose a casino app?
It can be one factor, but it shouldn’t be the main one. A licensed operator, a well-built app, clear terms, fair payout times and good safer gambling tools matter more. Cashback reduces the cost of play slightly but doesn’t change the house edge, so you should still expect to lose over time. Stake-based schemes that pay whether you win or lose are easier to understand than loss-based ones. The how to compare casino apps guide sets out the main criteria.
What is the difference between cashback and a no-wagering bonus?
Cashback returns part of what you stake or lose after you play, while a no-wagering bonus, such as free spins with cash winnings, is given up front when you meet a deposit or stake condition. Both can be paid as cash without wagering, but they work at different points. PlayOJO combines the two: 80 no-wagering spins on a £10 first deposit and OJOplus money back on later play. See keep what you win casino apps for more. 18+, T&Cs apply.
Can cashback help me win back losses?
No. Cashback only returns a fraction of what you stake or lose, so it can’t restore what has gone, and the house edge still applies to every bet. Treating cashback as a way to recover losses can lead to playing longer or depositing more than you planned, which is a recognised sign of harmful gambling. If losses are worrying you, set a deposit limit, take a break, or call the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133. Read gambling support services UK for options.
Do free spins and bonus stakes earn cashback?
That depends on each scheme’s terms. Many stake-based schemes only count real-money bets, which would exclude spins you didn’t pay for and stakes made from bonus funds. PlayOJO describes OJOplus as applying to real-money bets. Before assuming a bonus session will build cashback, read the eligibility section of the terms in the app. If a figure looks lower than expected, check your transaction history and ask live chat. The free spins glossary entry explains how spin stakes are treated.
Is casino cashback taxed in the UK?
No. Gambling winnings and related returns aren’t taxed for players in the UK, and cashback from a casino is treated the same way. You don’t need to report it to HMRC. That doesn’t make cashback a source of income: it reduces the cost of play rather than producing a profit. Very large or frequent payouts can lead the casino to carry out affordability or source-of-funds checks. Our winnings and tax page has the details.
