Casino app prize drops are promotions that hand out random prizes, usually cash or spins, to players who spin on selected slots during a campaign. You don’t aim for them; a qualifying spin either triggers a drop or it doesn’t. This guide explains how drops work on a phone, how to read the minimum stake and prize pool, and why they shouldn’t change how much you play.
A prize drop pays a random prize to a qualifying spin on a participating game, on top of the game’s normal result.
Most campaigns need an opt-in and a minimum stake; the drop pool and prize list sit on the promotion card.
Your chance of a drop on any one spin is small and usually unpublished, so drops add little to the value of a session.
We haven’t verified current prize-drop campaigns at our partners; check each app’s Promotions tab.
18+, terms apply, and drops should never be a reason to stake more or play longer.

What casino app prize drops are
A prize drop is a random reward attached to real-money spins during a set period. Picture a slot lobby in which some game tiles carry a small banner, such as a parachute or gift icon. Spin any of those games at or above the minimum stake while the campaign is live, and every spin has a chance of landing a prize from a pool. The prize arrives as a pop-up over the reels, separate from whatever the slot itself paid.
Two kinds turn up in UK apps. Network drops are run by a game studio across every casino that carries its games; Pragmatic Play’s Drops & Wins is the best-known name. Casino-run drops are organised by the operator for its own customers, often around a theme, a new game or a season. The mechanics are similar, but network drops tend to have bigger, shared pools and more competition for each prize.
How a prize drop works, from opt-in to payout
Find the campaign in the app’s Promotions tab, or tap the banner on a participating game tile.
Read the card: dates, participating games, minimum stake, prize list and whether you need to opt in.
Tap Opt In if required. Spins before you opt in usually don’t count.
Play a participating slot at or above the minimum stake. Each qualifying spin enters the draw automatically.
If a spin wins a drop, a message appears in the game or the app, and the prize is credited to your account.
Check the prize type in My Account or the inbox: cash, free spins or bonus funds, each with its own terms.
Some campaigns show a live counter of prizes remaining. That number is informational; seeing it fall doesn’t make the next spin more likely to win. For a primer on how slot results are generated, read how casino app games work.
The real odds and value of a prize drop
Prize drops are easy to overrate. A campaign might advertise a pool of thousands of prizes, but it’s shared among everyone spinning participating games across every casino in the network. The chance of any single spin dropping a prize is rarely published and is usually small.
A rough worked example helps. Suppose a casino-run campaign gives away 1,000 prizes averaging £5 each, a £5,000 pool, over a week in which players make 10 million qualifying spins. That’s one prize per 10,000 spins, or about 0.05p of prize value per spin. Set that against a slot with a 96% RTP, which on a 20p spin has a long-run cost of 0.8p a spin. The drop shaves off a sliver of that cost and nothing more. These figures are illustrative; real pools and spin counts aren’t usually disclosed.

In this example, staking more doesn’t raise the drop value at all, which is the case for campaigns with flat entry at a minimum stake. Some campaigns scale prizes to your stake, but either way the house edge still applies. Our RTP glossary entry explains the long-run figure.

Prize drops and prize games at our partner apps
We haven’t confirmed which, if any, prize-drop campaigns are running at our partner casinos today, and campaigns change monthly. What the store listings do show is that several partners build prize-style features into their apps.

How UK rules shape prize drops on mobile
Prize drops run inside the same rules as any slot. Stakes are capped at £5 a spin for players aged 25 and over and £2 for 18–24s. There’s no autoplay, no turbo or slam-stop and at least 2.5 seconds per spin, so you can’t mass-produce entries quickly. A drop that pays bonus funds can’t carry wagering above 10x, and since 19 January 2026 a casino drop can’t pay out a sports free bet.
The slot design rules also stop celebrations for returns smaller than your stake, and that extends to how prize messages should read. The UK slot design rules page explains what you should and shouldn’t see on screen.
Prize drop notifications on iPhone and Android
Drops are usually announced in-game, but some casinos also push a notification when a campaign starts or when a prize is credited. On iPhone, Focus modes can silence these; on Android, battery optimisation can delay them. If you do want to hear about prizes, allow notifications for the app only, without letting it alert you to every new promotion.
Many people find prize-drop alerts tempt them back into an app at times they hadn’t planned to play. Our casino app notifications guide explains how to keep account alerts while muting promotional ones.
Keeping prize drops in perspective
Drops are designed to make ordinary spins feel more exciting. That’s fine if you were going to play anyway, at your normal stake, for your normal time. The risk is that a prize counter or a near-miss message encourages a few more spins, or a stake raised to reach the minimum. Neither changes the maths: the house edge applies to every spin, and losses are likely over time.
Only join drops on games you already enjoy at a stake you already use.
Ignore the prize counter; it says nothing about your next spin.
Stop if you notice yourself playing to chase a drop rather than for fun.
Prize drops versus tournaments, cashback and free spins
Drops are pure chance; tournaments rank players on performance within a set window; cashback returns a share of losses; free spins give a fixed number of rounds. Each has different value and different pressure. Drops and tournaments are the most likely to keep you spinning, while fixed spins are the easiest to value.

Coral and Ladbrokes are both run by LC International Limited (Entain). If you already hold an account with one Entain brand, you may not be able to open a new account with another; check the terms before signing up.

Frequently asked questions
Are casino app prize drops random?
Yes. A prize drop is awarded at random to a qualifying spin during the campaign; you can’t predict or influence which spin wins. Your chance depends on the number of prizes, how many qualifying spins are made across all players and the campaign rules, and is rarely published. Spinning faster isn’t possible anyway, as UK slots must take at least 2.5 seconds per spin. Treat any drop as a bonus surprise, not a target. Our are casino apps rigged page explains how random outcomes are tested and checked.
Do I need to opt in to a prize drop?
Usually, yes. Most campaigns ask you to tap Opt In on the promotion card before your spins count. Some network campaigns enter you automatically when you play a participating game, but you shouldn’t assume that. Opting in takes a second in the app, and spins placed before you join generally don’t count. If you can’t see the opt-in button, scroll the promotion card or check the game tile’s banner. Our how to opt in to a casino bonus guide shows where the button sits in most apps.
Does a higher stake improve my chance of a prize drop?
In most campaigns, no. A spin either meets the minimum stake or it doesn’t, and every qualifying spin has the same chance. Some campaigns scale prizes to your bet, but the house edge on the game still scales with your stake too, so the overall cost of playing rises faster than any extra prize value. Never raise your stake to chase a drop. UK limits of £5 per spin, or £2 for 18–24s, apply throughout. See UK stake limits on mobile slots for how the caps work.
Are prize drop winnings paid as cash?
It depends on the campaign. Network drops commonly pay cash that you can withdraw, but casino-run drops may pay free spins or bonus funds instead. Bonus funds carry wagering of no more than 10x under UK rules from January 2026, plus any expiry and maximum-bet terms. The prize description on the promotion card, and the message when you win, will say which type you’ve received. Check your balance breakdown in My Account. Our free spins vs bonus cash guide explains the difference.
Do Coral, Ladbrokes or PlayOJO run prize drops?
We haven’t verified any current prize-drop campaign at our partners, and campaigns change often. The Coral app’s store listing mentions free-to-play games with real-money prizes plus Smart Rewards, Rewards Grabber and Coral Coins; Ladbrokes’ mentions free-to-play Instant Spins, a daily prize wheel and contests; PlayOJO’s mentions OJOplus money back. Check each app’s Promotions tab for live campaigns. The casino app loyalty rewards page compares the ongoing reward schemes.
Can I take part in prize drops on both iPhone and Android?
Yes. Prize drops are tied to your casino account and the game, not the device, so they work the same in the iPhone app, the Android app and the website. A prize won on your phone appears in your balance everywhere. Differences are limited to how notifications arrive and how promotion cards display on smaller screens. Make sure the app is up to date, as older versions can hide new promotion banners. Our how to update casino apps guide covers both platforms.
Why didn’t I receive a prize drop I was told I won?
Check whether you’d opted in, whether the spin met the minimum stake and whether your account is fully verified, as unverified accounts often can’t receive prizes. Prizes can also take a short time to credit, and free spins may need accepting from the inbox. If it still hasn’t arrived, contact live chat with the time of the spin and the game name, and screenshot the message you saw. The free spins not showing page covers similar crediting problems step by step.
Are prize drops a good reason to choose a casino app?
Not really. Drops are temporary, the odds of a prize per spin are small and usually unpublished, and the long-run cost of play is set by the game’s RTP, not the promotion. Licensing, clear terms, payment speed, safer gambling tools and how the app runs on your phone matter far more. Treat drops as a minor extra. Our guide to what makes a good casino app lists the features that make a lasting difference.
