Rainbow Riches app guide

Rainbow Riches: a pub and bookmaker classic on your phone

Rainbow Riches comes from Barcrest, a British studio long known for machines in pubs, arcades and bookmakers, now part of Light & Wonder. The leprechaun theme, Irish folk soundtrack and pick-a-prize bonus games come straight from that machine heritage, and the game became one of the most familiar slot names in the UK as a result.

Compared with modern grid and Megaways games, it is simple: five reels, three rows and 20 paylines. There are no cascades, no multipliers on the reels and no free spins round. Instead, the value lies in three bonus games, each with a different way of choosing your prize.

Do not confuse the slot with the Rainbow Riches-branded casino, which is a separate operator. Our Rainbow Riches Casino app profile covers that brand. The slot itself is available in many UK-licensed apps, opened from the lobby like any other game.

How the Rainbow Riches app game plays on mobile

Because it started life on physical machines and desktop, Rainbow Riches is designed around a wide reel set. On a phone it is clearest in landscape, where the reels and the leprechaun fill the screen and the controls sit on the right. Portrait works, with the reels across the middle and buttons below, and on a modern phone the large, simple symbols remain easy to read.

The bonus games are where a touchscreen helps: picking a wishing well or tapping to spin the Road to Riches dial feels natural with a finger. Each bonus loads its own screen, so allow a second or two on a slower connection. Our Wi-Fi vs mobile data guide explains what happens if your signal drops mid-bonus: the result is held on the casino’s server.

How to play Rainbow Riches in a casino app

1. Log in to your casino app and search the lobby for Rainbow Riches.
2. Pick the original. Several spin-offs share the name, including Megaways, Pick 'n' Mix and Reels of Gold, so check the tile.
3. Open the paytable from the menu and look at the three bonus symbols and what each one triggers.
4. Set your stake. All 20 lines are fixed and the UK caps are £5 per spin, or £2 if you are 18 to 24.
5. Tap Spin. Each spin lasts at least 2.5 seconds in the UK and there is no autoplay.
6. When a bonus starts, follow the on-screen prompt to pick or tap; your prize is added when the bonus ends.

Road to Riches, Wishing Well and Pots of Gold

Each bonus game is started by its own bonus symbols landing on the reels; the paytable in your app shows which symbol triggers which game and on which reels.

Road to Riches

A dial spins and moves you along a winding path of prize steps. Each step pays a multiple of your stake, rising as you go, and the furthest point is the game’s top 500x prize. The round ends when the dial lands on collect, and you take the value of the step you have reached.

Wishing Well

You choose one of the wells on screen, and it reveals a cash prize based on your stake. It is a single pick, so the round is quick.

Pots of Gold

A wheel or disc spins over pots of different metals, and your prize depends on where it stops. The gold pot pays the most.

In every case the prize is decided by the game’s random number generator, not by which well you tap or when you press stop. The picking simply reveals an outcome that the maths has already set. Our how casino app games work guide and the RNG entry explain this.

Rainbow Riches RTP and volatility in plain numbers

The published RTP is 95.00%, lower than most modern online slots. On average, about £5 of every £100 staked is kept by the game over a very long run. The figure in your app may differ, so check the rules page as described in how to find a slot’s RTP in an app.

Medium volatility and a modest 500x ceiling mean the game tends to pay small and medium amounts more evenly than high-volatility slots. That can stretch a budget further, but the lower RTP means the average cost per spin is higher than on many 96% games.

These figures show long-run averages only. A session can lose more or less, and the 500x payout is rare.

UK rules that apply to Rainbow Riches

• Stake caps of £5 per spin for players aged 25 and over, and £2 for 18–24s, as explained in our UK stake limits guide.
• No autoplay, no turbo spin and a minimum spin time of 2.5 seconds.
• No sound or animation celebrating a return lower than your stake.
• Balance and net position on screen at all times.
• Demo play only after age verification, and only where the app offers it.
• Gambling winnings are not taxed for UK players, but the house edge still applies on every spin.

Rainbow Riches vs its spin-offs and similar slots

Rainbow Riches Megaways keeps the theme but uses the Megaways engine with high volatility and a much higher ceiling. Pick 'n' Mix lets you choose which bonus games are active. Double Bubble is another long-running British favourite with a similar 20-line, medium-volatility feel. Our fruit machine apps page covers more slots with a pub-machine style.
