Rise of Olympus app guide

Rise of Olympus app play swaps paylines for a match-three style 5 × 5 grid: line up three or more identical symbols horizontally or vertically and they pay, then clear away. How the Rise of Olympus app grid pays

There are no reels or paylines in the usual sense. The game deals a 5 × 5 grid of symbols, and any run of three or more identical symbols in a straight horizontal or vertical line is a win. Longer runs pay more. Winning symbols are removed and the gaps are refilled, which can produce further matches from the same spin.

If you have played match-three puzzle games on your phone, the pattern will look familiar, but here the outcome of each spin, including every refill, is decided by the random number generator when you tap. There is nothing to swap or drag; the game resolves itself.

Each win within a single spin feeds the round multiplier, which builds during that spin. The paytable explains how it climbs and when it resets.

Why a 5 × 5 grid works well in portrait

A square grid fits the width of a phone held upright almost perfectly, giving each of the 25 symbols plenty of room. The gods and the charge meter are drawn around the grid, and the controls sit below. In landscape the grid sits in the centre with the gods alongside, which some players find easier to follow during the god features.

Hand of God, Wrath of God and the three brothers

Zeus, Poseidon and Hades each have a role. Play’n GO describes two linked features:

  • Hand of God: after a spin, a god can step in to help, with the type of help depending on which god it is. Each brother changes the grid in his own way, for example by removing or transforming symbols, to set up new wins.
  • Wrath of God: when the charge meter is full, the three brothers unite to help clear the grid.

The game’s help screen describes exactly what each god does and how the meter charges. Read it before playing, because the god features are what separate this game from a simple match-three.

Rise of Olympus free spins and Clear the Grid

In the free spins round you choose one god, who then assists on every spin that does not produce a win. The rules screen sets out how the round is triggered and how many spins it lasts. A separate Clear the Grid bonus can also occur during free spins and pays 100 times your bet.

At a 20p stake, Clear the Grid would pay £20; at £1 it would pay £100. That gives a useful sense of scale, but like any feature it is not something you can expect in a given session. Our mobile slot features guide explains how features like this fit into a game’s overall return.

Playing Rise of Olympus in a UK casino app

  1. Sign in to the casino app with your password, Face ID or fingerprint.
  2. Search “Olympus”. Several games will appear, including Pragmatic Play’s Gates of Olympus, so pick Rise of Olympus by Play’n GO.
  3. Open the game and tap the menu to read the rules for each god, the multiplier and the RTP.
  4. Choose your stake; the app caps it at £5, or £2 for players aged 18 to 24.
  5. Tap spin and let the matches, refills and any god feature play out.
  6. If free spins trigger, pick your god when prompted.
  7. Check your net position and stop when your planned budget or time is reached.

If the game freezes during a long refill sequence, close and reopen it; the result is stored on the server. Our casino app keeps crashing page covers persistent problems.

Rise of Olympus RTP of 96.50% and high volatility

An RTP of 96.50% means a theoretical £3.50 cost for every £100 staked over the long run. As with other Play’n GO slots, casinos may run lower settings, so check the figure in your app’s version.

StakeSpinsTotal stakedTheoretical cost
20p120£24About 84p
50p120£60£2.10
£1120£120£4.20

High volatility means real sessions differ widely from those averages. Chains of matches can produce larger results, while long stretches may pay little. Decide your spend first, and consider a loss limit in the app.

Max win in pounds

The maximum win is 5,000 times your stake: £500 at 10p, £1,000 at 20p and £5,000 at £1. Reaching it is extremely rare. If a large win lands, the casino may run standard checks before paying, as described in our page on large wins on casino apps.

UK rules for Rise of Olympus on mobile

Every UK-licensed app applies the same Gambling Commission rules. There is no autoplay, each spin takes at least 2.5 seconds and there is no turbo button. Stakes are capped at £5 a spin for players aged 25 and over and £2 for those aged 18 to 24. Feature buy is not offered in Great Britain, and returns below your stake are not presented as wins. See UK slot design rules on mobile for the detail.

Rise of Olympus demo access

Demos are only available after age verification, a UK requirement since May 2019. Playing the demo first is a good way to see how the gods behave and which orientation suits your screen. Nothing won in demo mode can be cashed out.

Frequently asked questions

How do you win on Rise of Olympus?

You win by landing three or more identical symbols next to each other in a straight horizontal or vertical line on the 5 × 5 grid. Diagonal lines do not count. Longer runs pay more, and winning symbols are cleared and replaced, which can create further wins in the same spin and build the round multiplier. The gods can also change the grid to help form matches. Every result is random. Our guide to how casino app games work explains how outcomes are generated.

What is the RTP of Rise of Olympus?

The published RTP is 96.50%, meaning a theoretical return of £96.50 for every £100 staked over a very long run. Play’n GO also supplies lower settings, so the version in your app may differ; check the game rules from the menu. RTP is a long-run average, and on a high-volatility game a single session can end far from it in either direction. For a walkthrough with screens described, read finding a slot’s RTP in an app.

What do the gods do in Rise of Olympus?

Zeus, Poseidon and Hades help create wins. Through the Hand of God feature, a god can step in after a spin, and the type of help depends on which god it is. When the charge meter fills, Wrath of God sees all three brothers unite to help clear the grid. In free spins you choose one god to assist on every non-winning spin. The help screen in your app explains each god’s effect. Our mobile slot features guide covers similar mechanics.

What is the Clear the Grid bonus?

Clear the Grid is a bonus that can occur during the free spins round and pays 100 times your bet. At a 20p stake that is £20, and at £1 it is £100. It is one part of the free spins feature rather than a separate round you can aim for, and there is no way to make it more likely. The game rules set out exactly when it applies. For a general explanation of how bonus rounds contribute to a slot’s RTP, see our bonus round glossary entry.

What is the max win on Rise of Olympus?

Rise of Olympus tops out at 5,000 times your stake. That works out at £1,000 on a 20p stake and £5,000 on a £1 stake. Stakes in Great Britain stop at £5 a spin from age 25 and £2 a spin below that. Results near the cap are extremely rare, and most sessions end with a loss. If a large payout lands, expect standard verification checks. The max win glossary entry has more on why games have a cap at all.

Is Rise of Olympus the same as Gates of Olympus?

No. Rise of Olympus is a 2018 Play’n GO game where three or more matching symbols in a straight line pay on a 5 × 5 grid, with three gods helping. Gates of Olympus is a Pragmatic Play game with a 6 × 5 grid where eight or more matching symbols anywhere pay. Both have a 96.50% RTP, high volatility and a 5,000× ceiling, but they feel quite different to play. Check the provider name on the game tile in your app. Our Gates of Olympus guide covers the Pragmatic game.

Can I play Rise of Olympus on Android?

Yes. Rise of Olympus runs on Android phones and tablets through licensed casino apps from Google Play or on casino websites in Chrome. Google allows real-money gambling apps in Great Britain only from licensed operators it has approved. The game is HTML5, so it behaves the same as on iPhone. Its square grid suits portrait screens, and budget handsets may simply take a little longer to load it. Our Android casino apps guide compares the options available.

Can I play Rise of Olympus for free?

You can play the demo once a UK-licensed casino has verified your age, a rule in force since May 2019. That means registering and completing identity checks before demo play unlocks. Demo credit has no cash value and wins cannot be withdrawn. It is a sensible way to learn what each god does before staking real money. If the demo button is greyed out, our page on demo mode verification explains the usual reasons.
