Live baccarat apps

Live baccarat apps let you bet on a real card game dealt by a person in a studio, choosing Player, Banker or Tie on your phone while the cards are turned on camera. You make no decisions after betting, which suits a touchscreen, and the Banker bet carries one of the lowest house edges in a UK casino app.

Key takeaways

  • You only pick a side: Player, Banker or Tie. Fixed drawing rules decide every third card.
  • Banker has the lowest edge (about 1.06% with 5% commission); Tie pays 8:1 but has an edge of about 14.4%.
  • Scoreboard ‘roads’ record past results and don’t predict the next hand.
  • Live baccarat is often excluded from or weighted low in bonus wagering, so read the terms.

Live baccarat apps: the short version

In live baccarat two hands are dealt, one called Player and one called Banker. You don’t play either hand; you bet on which will finish closer to 9, or on a tie. The dealer turns the cards, a fixed rule book decides whether a third card is drawn, and the result is settled automatically. On a phone that means one decision per round: where to put your chips.

Tables are supplied to UK apps by studios such as Evolution, Pragmatic Play Live and Playtech, and sit in the live casino apps lobby next to blackjack and roulette. The computer version is covered on our baccarat apps page.

How a baccarat hand is counted and dealt

Cards two to nine count at face value, aces count 1, and tens and picture cards count 0. Only the last digit of a total matters, so a 7 and an 8 make 15, which counts as 5. A two-card total of 8 or 9 is a ‘natural’ and ends the hand straight away.

If neither side has a natural, the Player hand draws a third card on 0–5 and stands on 6 or 7. The Banker then follows a set table that depends on its own total and the Player’s third card. You never need to memorise it: the dealer and the software apply it, and the result appears on screen.

Payouts and side bets differ between studios, so open the help screen to see the exact rules and RTP for the table you are on. The glossary entry on the banker bet explains why Banker wins slightly more often, and the side bet entry explains why extras cost more.

A worked example

Bet £10 on Banker and it wins: you receive £9.50 profit after the 5% commission, plus your £10 stake back. Bet £10 on Player and it wins: £10 profit. Bet £10 on Tie and the hands tie: £80 profit. Over 50 hands at £10 on Banker you would stake £500, and the long-run expected cost at 1.06% is about £5.30. A tie on a Banker or Player bet returns your stake on most tables.

Live baccarat variants in UK casino apps

  • Classic or standard baccarat: commission on Banker wins, cards dealt at a normal pace.
  • Speed baccarat: the same rules with shorter betting windows and cards dealt face up, so rounds are quicker.
  • No-commission baccarat: no 5% charge, but a Banker win with 6 pays half. The edge is slightly higher overall.
  • Squeeze baccarat: the dealer slowly bends and reveals cards for suspense. Rounds take longer, which also slows your spending.
  • Multiplier versions: random multipliers on certain outcomes, usually paid for with a fee or reduced base payouts; check the help screen.

Close relatives with a similar feel include Dragon Tiger, where each side gets one card, and Andar Bahar.

Baccarat scoreboards (‘roads’) on a phone screen

Live baccarat tables show grids of coloured circles called roads: the Bead Plate and Big Road record each result, and the Big Eye Boy, Small Road and Cockroach Pig track patterns within the Big Road. They are a tradition from land-based baccarat and many players enjoy following them.

In portrait they shrink to a narrow strip under the video, and you usually tap to expand them to full screen. They describe what already happened and have no influence on the next hand, which is dealt from a shuffled eight-deck shoe. Treat any ‘road-reading’ system as entertainment, not a method.

How to play live baccarat in a casino app

  1. Log in to the casino app and tap Live Casino, then the baccarat category or search bar.
  2. Choose a table: check the stake range, whether it’s commission or no-commission, and whether it’s a speed or squeeze game.
  3. When the stream loads, wait for the betting countdown.
  4. Pick a chip from the rack and tap Player, Banker or Tie; add side bets only if you’ve read their odds.
  5. When betting closes, watch the dealer reveal the cards; third cards are drawn by the rules automatically.
  6. Your result and any commission are shown on screen and your balance updates.
  7. Use Rebet to repeat the same stake next round, or the back arrow to leave between hands.

Our general guide to how to play live casino on mobile covers chat, seats and settings that apply across live games.

Portrait, landscape and the squeeze on mobile

Baccarat is one of the easiest live games to play upright on a phone: three large betting areas, a chip rack and a card overlay all fit below the video. Landscape gives more space to the roads and a wider view of the table, which is handy on squeeze tables where the dealer’s hands are the main event. On a foldable phone the unfolded screen shows both comfortably.

Because rounds are quick on speed tables, keep notifications quiet while playing so a banner doesn’t cover the betting area; our casino app notifications guide explains how.

Connection, data and battery at live baccarat tables

Video runs continuously, so data use is far higher than for computer baccarat. Wi-Fi is the steadier choice for long sessions, and lowering the video quality in the game’s settings helps on 4G. If the stream drops after betting closes, your bet still stands and is settled normally; reopen the table or check your history to see the result. Our casino app data usage page explains how to monitor this.

UK rules for live baccarat apps

The £5 and £2 per-spin caps cover online slots only, so live baccarat follows the table’s own limits. The ban on autoplay extends to online casino games other than slots, so each bet requires a tap, and non-slot rounds must take at least 5 seconds. Deposits can’t come from credit cards, withdrawals can’t be reversed, and you must be age-verified before you play. See UK casino app rules for the full list.

Bonuses and keeping baccarat affordable

Bonus terms often exclude baccarat from wagering or count only a small percentage of each bet, because Banker and Player bets have such a low edge. Free spins are slot-only. Read the game restrictions, and see live casino app bonuses for how offers treat table games.

Fast tables can mean a lot of hands per hour. Setting a deposit limit and a reality-check reminder before you start keeps sessions in proportion. If gambling is causing worry, the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133 is free and open 24 hours, and GAMSTOP lets you block all UK-licensed sites at once.

Where to play live baccarat in a UK app

Ladbrokes, PlayOJO and 10bet all offer live casino tables in their apps; search ‘baccarat’ in the lobby to see what’s running. Their offers suit slots rather than baccarat: Ladbrokes gives up to 500 free spins (10p each, 50 a day for 10 days) after £10 of slots play, PlayOJO 80 free spins on Big Bass Bonanza after a £10 first deposit with no wagering, and 10bet a 100% bonus up to £25 that must be wagered 10x on slots within 3 days. 18+, new customers, terms apply.

All three apps have live casino tables. Their welcome offers are slot-based (spins or slot wagering), so they won’t fund baccarat directly. 18+, terms apply.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Banker bet always best in live baccarat?

In pure odds, yes: Banker has the lowest house edge, about 1.06% on a commission table with eight decks, compared with about 1.24% on Player. The 5% commission exists because the Banker’s drawing rules make it win slightly more often. On no-commission tables the edge on Banker rises to roughly 1.46% because a winning Banker 6 pays half. Neither bet beats the house over time, and the difference is small, so pick whichever you enjoy. The banker bet entry explains the maths, and house edge shows how to turn it into pounds.

Why is the Tie bet a poor choice?

The Tie pays 8:1, which sounds generous, but a tie happens only around 9.5% of the time with eight decks. Fair odds would pay roughly 9.5:1, so the gap produces a house edge of about 14.4%, many times the edge on Banker or Player. On £10 Tie bets, that is an expected long-run cost of about £1.44 per hand, against about 11p on Banker. Some tables offer better Tie payouts, so check the help screen. Our guide on how casino app games work explains expected cost, and side bet covers the Pair bets.

Can I play live baccarat on an iPhone?

Yes. Live baccarat runs inside UK casino apps from the App Store, which only allows real-money gambling apps from licensed operators. Install the casino’s app, log in, and find baccarat in the live casino section. Portrait mode is comfortable because there are only three main betting areas, and Face ID can speed up logging in if the app supports it. Keep iOS updated, since newer app versions may need a recent version. See how to install casino apps on iPhone and our iPhone casino apps comparison for the details of each app.

Do baccarat scoreboards help predict results?

No. The Big Road, Bead Plate and derived roads record what has happened at that table, but every hand is dealt from a shuffled shoe and the past has no effect on the next result. Streaks look meaningful because people naturally spot patterns, yet a long run of Banker wins doesn’t make Player ‘due’. The scoreboards are part of the game’s culture and harmless to follow, as long as you don’t raise stakes because of them. Our bankroll management on mobile guide explains how to keep stake sizes fixed, and volatility explains why streaks happen.

What does squeeze baccarat mean?

Squeeze baccarat is a version where the dealer reveals key cards slowly, bending them to show the edges first, building suspense before the total is known. It comes from Asian land-based casinos and is popular on live streams because the camera can follow the dealer’s hands closely. The rules and payouts are the same as standard baccarat; only the reveal changes, so rounds take longer. On a phone, landscape mode shows the squeeze best. For broader context on live formats, see live dealer and our live casino apps overview.

Does live baccarat count towards bonus wagering?

Often it doesn’t, or it counts at a low rate. Because Banker and Player have such small house edges, operators commonly exclude baccarat from bonus wagering or let only a small share of each stake count. Some offers exclude live casino entirely. The detail is in the bonus terms under game restrictions or game weighting, and the app’s bonus area usually shows progress. Since January 2026 wagering is capped at 10 times the bonus. Read game weighting in casino apps and how to track wagering in an app before you opt in.

How fast is a round of live baccarat?

Speed varies by table type. Speed baccarat tables are built for short rounds with brief betting windows and cards dealt face up, while squeeze tables take noticeably longer because of the slow reveal. Standard tables sit between the two. UK rules require non-slot casino rounds to last at least 5 seconds and ban autoplay, so every round needs a fresh tap. Faster tables mean more hands per hour, and more money staked in the same time, so pick the pace that fits your budget. Our session limits guide shows how to cap playing time.

What is the difference between live baccarat and Dragon Tiger?

Both are quick card games where you bet on which side wins, but Dragon Tiger deals just one card to each side and the higher card wins, with no third-card rules. Baccarat uses two or three cards per hand and the totals that end closest to 9. Dragon Tiger rounds are even quicker, and the house edge comes mainly from ties, where you typically lose half your stake on the main bets. Many apps place both in the same live lobby. See our Dragon Tiger apps page and the general table games apps guide.
