UK casino app rule changes in 2026 mostly affect bonuses and limits. Since 19 January 2026, wagering on casino bonuses is capped at 10x and offers that mix sport and casino are banned. Operators also had until 30 September 2026 to offer gross deposit limits, building on the limit prompts that began in October 2025. Here is what each change looks like on your phone.
Bonus wagering is capped at 10x from 19 January 2026, so a £100 bonus needs no more than £1,000 of play.
Offers that make you bet on one product to unlock another, such as sport to casino, are banned.
New customers are prompted to set a limit before their first deposit, and gross deposit limits were required by 30 September 2026.
Earlier rules still apply: £5 and £2 slot stake limits, no autoplay, and no credit card gambling.

The 10x wagering cap: what changed for bonuses
Wagering requirements say how much you must stake before bonus funds, or winnings from them, can be withdrawn. Before 2026 there was no cap, and requirements of 35x or more were common. Since 19 January 2026, no UK casino bonus may require more than 10x.
The maths shows why this matters. Under the old system, a £50 bonus at 35x meant £1,750 of stakes. At 10x it is £500. Casumo’s current welcome offer works this way: a 50% bonus up to £100 on a first deposit of at least £20, with the bonus to be wagered 10x within 7 days and a £5 maximum bet while the bonus is active. Deposit £200 and the £100 bonus needs £1,000 of play. 10bet’s 100% match up to £25 needs £250 of slot play within 3 days, with bonus winnings capped at £1,000. 18+, terms apply to both.
Also from 19 January 2026, operators can’t run promotions that require you to use one gambling product to unlock a reward on another. Offers like bet £10 on football to get casino spins, or play bingo to unlock a sports free bet, are gone. Casino offers now have to be earned on casino games, and sports offers on sports.
This shows most clearly in combined apps. 10bet’s app, for example, carries both sportsbook and casino, and its casino welcome bonus is chosen at sign-up rather than unlocked by a bet. Our guides to sport and casino app offers and casino apps for sports bettors explain how combined apps work now.
Deposit limit changes you will see on sign-up and after login
The financial limit rules arrived in two stages. From 31 October 2025, every operator had to prompt new customers to set a limit before the first deposit, present setting a limit as the default, and get confirmation from anyone who chose not to. Limits must be typed into a free-text box rather than chosen from suggested amounts, and must be linked directly from the homepage and deposit pages.
The second stage, originally due by 30 June 2026 and extended to 30 September 2026, made gross deposit limits compulsory. A gross limit counts every deposit, whatever you withdraw, and only that type may now be called a deposit limit. Raising any limit you set still needs at least 24 hours and your confirmation. The details are in our guides to deposit limit increases and cooling-off periods on casino apps.
How to check your app reflects the 2026 rules
The rules apply to the operator, not to a particular app version, but an out-of-date app can show old screens or stop working. A quick check on your phone takes a few minutes.
Update the app from the App Store or Google Play, or turn on automatic updates.
Open the safer gambling or limits menu and confirm you can see a deposit limit option with daily, weekly and monthly periods.
Open the promotions tab and read the terms of any offer you are considering; the wagering multiple should be 10x or lower, or none at all.
Check that no casino offer asks you to place a sports bet, or the other way round.
Look at the footer or safer gambling page for current support services, such as the National Gambling Helpline.
If anything looks out of date, contact support or check the operator’s licence on the Commission’s register.
GambleAware closed on 31 March 2026, so its name shouldn’t appear as a current service in an app or on a casino website. Help remains available: the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133 is free and open 24 hours a day, GamCare offers support and treatment, NHS gambling clinics provide specialist care, and GAMSTOP handles online self-exclusion. The gambling support services UK page lists each one.
Earlier rules that still shape casino apps in 2026
Several earlier changes explain why a UK casino app looks the way it does today.
Online slot stakes are capped at £5 per spin for players aged 25 and over (from 9 April 2025) and £2 per spin for those aged 18 to 24 (from 21 May 2025); see UK stake limits on mobile slots.
Slots have had no autoplay, no turbo or slam-stop, and a minimum of 2.5 seconds per spin since 31 October 2021, as covered in UK slot design rules on mobile.
Since 17 January 2025, the autoplay and speed rules extend to other online casino games, with at least 5 seconds per round.
Feature buys aren’t offered to players in Great Britain.
Credit cards have been banned for gambling since 14 April 2020, including through e-wallets funded by a credit card.
Reverse withdrawals have been banned since 31 October 2021.
Demo games can only be played after age verification, a rule in place since May 2019.
What the 2026 changes mean for you in practice
For most players, the changes make offers easier to understand and limits harder to ignore. Welcome bonuses now sit in a narrow band of wagering terms, which makes them simpler to compare: a 10x match bonus, a no-wagering spins offer and a deposit match with spins can be set side by side without converting 40x or 50x multiples. Expect more prompts about limits, and expect the deposit limit screen to look more consistent between brands.
Advantages
Bonus terms are capped and easier to compare
No need to bet on sport to unlock casino rewards
Limits are offered by default and reviewed regularly
Drawbacks
Fewer large headline bonuses than before
More prompts and screens before the first deposit
Combined apps now run separate sport and casino offers
Offers that already meet the 2026 rules

Casumo and 10bet offer match bonuses with 10x wagering, as described above. 18+, terms apply, and every offer works the same in the app and on the website.
These welcome offers follow the 2026 rules: Casumo’s and 10bet’s match bonuses carry 10x wagering, and PlayOJO’s 80 spins have no wagering at all. 18+, terms apply.

Frequently asked questions
What is the maximum wagering requirement for UK casino bonuses in 2026?
10x. Since 19 January 2026, no casino bonus offered to UK players may require you to wager more than ten times the bonus before withdrawing. A £50 bonus therefore needs no more than £500 of stakes. Some offers have lower multiples or none, such as no-wagering spins. Other terms still matter, including expiry dates and maximum bet rules. Our guide to low wagering casino apps compares current examples.
Can I still get casino spins for betting on football?
No. From 19 January 2026, promotions that require you to use one gambling product to get a reward on another are banned. A bet on football can only unlock sports rewards, and casino spins must be earned on casino games. Combined apps still offer both products, but their promotions are kept separate. The sport and casino app offers page explains what combined apps offer now.
Why does my casino app ask me to set a deposit limit before I can deposit?
Because UK rules have required it since 31 October 2025. New customers must be prompted to set a financial limit before their first deposit, with setting one presented as the default. You can decline, but the app must get your confirmation that you don’t want a limit. Existing customers with limits are prompted to review their activity at least every six months. Our guide to casino app limits shows where to change limits later.
What are gross deposit limits and why did they change in 2026?
A gross deposit limit counts every pound you deposit, whatever you withdraw. The Commission’s rules made gross limits the minimum every operator must offer, said only they may be called deposit limits, and required them to be at least as prominent as other limit types. The deadline was extended from 30 June 2026 to 30 September 2026. Net limits can still be offered alongside. See deposit limit increases on casino apps.
Did slot stake limits change in 2026?
No. The stake limits came in during 2025 and remain in place: £5 per spin for players aged 25 and over since 9 April 2025, and £2 per spin for those aged 18 to 24 since 21 May 2025. They apply to online slots in apps and on websites. Many apps show the limit on the bet selector, which simply won’t go higher. The guide to UK stake limits on mobile slots explains how age is applied.
Is GambleAware still running in 2026?
No. GambleAware closed on 31 March 2026, so its website and branding shouldn’t be presented as a current service. Free support is still available: the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133, open 24 hours a day, GamCare, NHS gambling clinics and GAMSTOP for online self-exclusion. If a casino app still points to the old service, it may simply need updating. Our gambling support services UK page lists current options.
Do the 2026 rules apply to casino apps and websites equally?
Yes. The rules apply to the licensed operator, and a casino app is a front end to the same account as the website, so the same wagering cap, offer rules and limits apply wherever you play. A bonus claimed in the app has the same terms as one claimed on the site, and a deposit limit set on one applies to both. Our page on whether casino apps have different bonuses explains why.
Are no-wagering offers affected by the 10x cap?
Not directly, because they already sit below it. No-wagering offers pay winnings as cash, so there is no multiple to cap. They still have other terms, such as which game the spins work on, the spin value and how long you have to use them. PlayOJO’s 80 spins, for example, are on Big Bass Bonanza at 10p each on a first deposit of at least £10. 18+, terms apply. See no wagering casino apps.
What else should I expect from UK gambling regulation after 2026?
Expect ongoing prompts and reviews rather than one-off changes. The limit rules include regular reminders, and the Commission updates its technical standards as rules bed in, as the June-to-September 2026 deadline extension showed. Rather than relying on predictions, check the terms and safer gambling menu in your app from time to time, and keep it updated. Our guide to UK casino app rules is kept current with the rules in force.
