Deposit limit increases on casino apps

Deposit limit increases on casino apps never happen instantly in the UK. You request the higher figure in the app’s safer gambling menu, wait at least 24 hours, then confirm it before it applies, while a lower limit takes effect straight away. This guide covers each screen, how daily, weekly and monthly limits combine, and what to weigh before you confirm.

Key takeaways

  • An increase needs a request, a wait of at least 24 hours and your confirmation at the end.
  • Your current limit keeps blocking deposits throughout the wait.
  • When limits overlap, the strictest one wins: a £10 daily limit caps a week at £70 even with a £100 weekly limit.
  • Only gross deposit limits can be called deposit limits, and every UK operator had to offer them by 30 September 2026.

How deposit limit increases on casino apps work

Every casino licensed in Great Britain has to let you set your own deposit limit, and the Gambling Commission’s financial limit standards (RTS 12) control how you can change it. Reductions apply as soon as practicable, normally the moment you save them. Increases are deliberately slower: the operator can only raise a limit at your request, after a cooling-off period of at least 24 hours, and only once you positively confirm at the end of that period.

The same applies to removing a limit, since that is simply the largest increase possible. Because a casino app is a window onto your account rather than a separate account, an increase requested on your phone is the same request whether you later look at it in the app, in a mobile browser or on a laptop.

Requesting a higher deposit limit in the app, step by step

Since the rules say limit-setting must be reachable directly from the homepage and from deposit pages, you shouldn’t need to dig far. Wording varies, but on most UK casino apps the route looks like this.

  1. Sign in with Face ID, fingerprint or your password and tap the account or profile icon, usually top right or in the bottom menu bar.
  2. Open Safer Gambling (sometimes Responsible Gambling, Gambling Controls or My Limits).
  3. Tap Deposit Limits and pick the period you want to change: daily, weekly or monthly.
  4. Type the new amount into the free-text box. Apps can’t pre-fill or suggest a figure for you.
  5. Read the summary, which should state that the increase is pending and when it can be confirmed, then submit.
  6. Wait at least 24 hours. Your existing limit still applies to every deposit during this time.
  7. Return to Deposit Limits, or tap the in-app message if one arrives, and choose Confirm or Cancel.

Brand-specific routes are on our safer gambling pages for Coral, Ladbrokes, PlayOJO, Casumo and 10bet. PlayOJO’s App Store listing names its tool Deposit Limits, alongside Take A Break and Safe Mate, and 10bet’s listing places deposit limits in account settings.

Why a decrease is instant and an increase isn’t

The asymmetry is the point of the rule. Lowering a limit can only reduce harm, so there is no reason to delay it. Raising one is the kind of change people often want mid-session, after a loss, or when the limit has just stopped a deposit, which are exactly the moments when a decision is least considered. A day’s pause and a fresh confirmation turn a reaction into a choice.

The cooling-off periods on casino apps guide covers the other places this kind of wait appears, such as the end of self-exclusion.

How daily, weekly and monthly limits combine

Apps must offer at least three periods: 24 hours, seven days and one month. You can set more than one, and where they overlap the most restrictive applies. The Commission’s own example uses a £10 daily limit with a £100 weekly limit: the daily cap means you can deposit no more than £10 a day and so no more than £70 in a week, however high the weekly figure is.

That matters when you raise a limit. Suppose you have £20 a day, £100 a week and £300 a month. Raising the weekly limit to £150 changes nothing on its own, because £20 × 7 = £140 is still the ceiling for a week. If you raise the daily limit to £40 instead, the weekly £100 becomes the binding limit, and the monthly £300 caps things at around three weeks of that. Before requesting any increase, work out which limit is actually stopping you.

Fixed and rolling periods

Operators choose when a period resets, either at a fixed global time (for example midnight, or Monday for a weekly limit) or from when you set the limit, and they must tell you which. Gross deposit limits must use fixed time frames. If a deposit is blocked at 11pm, the reset may be an hour away or almost a day away, so check the reset time shown beside the limit before assuming you need an increase.

Gross and net deposit limits

A gross deposit limit counts every pound you pay in, regardless of withdrawals. A net deposit limit subtracts withdrawals, so £100 in and £40 out uses £60 of a net limit but the full £100 of a gross one. The Commission’s updated rules make gross limits the minimum requirement, say only gross limits may be called deposit limits, and require them to be shown at least as prominently as any other type. The deadline for operators to offer them was extended from 30 June 2026 to 30 September 2026.

Operators can still offer net deposit limits, loss limits or stake limits alongside. If an app shows several types, read the label carefully before raising one, because increasing a net limit may not help if a gross limit is the one blocking you. The loss limit and deposit limit glossary entries explain the difference.

Questions to ask before confirming an increase

The wait is only useful if you use it. These questions are a quick honest check, and none of them needs a calculator beyond the app’s own history screen.

  • What triggered the request? A limit that stopped a deposit right after a loss is a different story from a planned change after a pay rise.
  • What have I deposited and withdrawn over the last three months? The transaction history shows this by date.
  • Is the extra money genuinely spare after rent, bills and savings?
  • Do I hold limits at other casinos too? A limit at one operator says nothing about the rest.
  • Would I be comfortable telling someone close to me about the new figure?

If any answer gives you pause, leave the request unconfirmed or cancel it. Lowering the limit, taking a time-out or setting a budget outside the app, as in our guide to setting a gambling budget on your phone, are all instant.

When an increase leads to questions from the casino

Licensed operators must watch for signs of harm and financial vulnerability, and a pattern of rising limits or deposits can lead an app to ask about your income or occupation, or to request documents. That process is separate from the cooling-off period, and the operator may decide not to let you deposit more even after you confirm a higher limit. Our guides to affordability checks and source of funds checks explain what can be asked and why.

iPhone and Android: what differs

The rules and the screens are the operator’s, so the process is the same on an iPhone, an Android phone and a tablet. The differences are around the edges. Confirmation reminders may arrive as push notifications, which only appear if you allowed notifications when you installed the app; on iPhone this is under Settings, Notifications, and on Android under Settings, Apps, then the app’s Notifications page. If notifications are off, the request will still be waiting in the safer gambling menu.

Biometric sign-in makes it quick to get back into the account to confirm, but it also makes deposits quick. Some people keep Face ID or fingerprint login off for casino apps for exactly that reason; see enabling Face ID on casino apps for how the setting works.

If you keep wanting a higher limit

Repeatedly hitting a limit and asking to raise it is one of the patterns worth taking seriously. Gambling should be paid-for entertainment, and over time losses are the likely outcome because of the house edge. Frequently asked questions

How long does a deposit limit increase take on a casino app?

At least 24 hours, plus your confirmation. UK rules say a limit you set can only go up after a cooling-off period of a day or more, and only once you positively confirm the request when that period ends. Some operators choose a longer wait. Until you confirm, the old limit keeps applying to every deposit. The cooling-off periods on casino apps guide explains the other situations where a similar wait applies.

Can customer support raise my deposit limit straight away?

No. The cooling-off period is a licence requirement, so support teams can’t skip it, whether you contact them by live chat, phone or email. They can tell you where a pending request stands, cancel it, or lower your limit at once if you ask. If a decrease is delayed by a technical fault, the operator should tell you when it will apply. The casino app limits guide shows where the setting sits in each app.

What happens if I don’t confirm the higher limit?

The higher limit shouldn’t take effect. Confirmation at the end of the cooling-off period is part of the rule, so an unconfirmed request should not turn into a higher limit on its own. Most apps leave your existing limit in place and either expire the request or keep it waiting in the safer gambling menu. Leaving it unconfirmed is a perfectly good outcome if you have had second thoughts. The deposit limit glossary entry covers the basics.

Does raising my limit on the app change it on the website?

Yes. Limits apply at least at account level, and the app is just another way into the same account, so a change requested in the app shows on the website and on any other device. If the operator also offers product-level limits, for example on a sportsbook, it must make clear which a limit covers. Our page on using a casino app on two devices explains how settings sync.

Why did my deposit get blocked when I’m under my weekly limit?

Usually because another limit is stricter. Where daily, weekly and monthly limits overlap, the most restrictive applies, so a £20 daily limit stops you at £20 today even if your weekly limit has room. A gross deposit limit also ignores withdrawals, so paying out doesn’t free up space. Check every limit and its reset time before requesting an increase. The casino app deposit declined page covers other reasons a payment fails.

What is the difference between a gross and a net deposit limit?

A gross limit counts every deposit; a net limit subtracts withdrawals. With £100 deposited and £40 withdrawn, you have used £100 of a gross limit but only £60 of a net limit. Under the Commission’s rules only gross limits may be called deposit limits, and operators had to offer them by 30 September 2026, after a three-month extension. Net limits can still be offered alongside. The UK casino app rule changes in 2026 guide covers the timeline.

Can I lower my deposit limit while an increase is pending?

Yes. Reductions take effect immediately, and you can cancel a pending increase at any time. If you have second thoughts during the wait, setting a lower figure is the clearest way to change course, because the lower limit applies at once and the pending increase falls away or can be cancelled. Lowering later doesn’t trigger any new wait. The time-out guide explains another instant option if you want a break.

Will the casino ask questions if I raise my limit?

It might. UK operators must look for signs of harm and financial difficulty, and higher limits or rising deposits can prompt questions about your income or occupation, or a request for documents such as payslips or bank statements. This is separate from the cooling-off period, and the operator can restrict deposits even if you confirmed a higher limit. Our guide to affordability checks on casino apps explains what to expect.

Is there a maximum deposit limit I can set?

Not a single legal maximum for the limit you choose, but operators set their own caps on individual payments. Coral and Ladbrokes, for example, publish a maximum of £2,000 per deposit for UK customers. Operators may only set a minimum limit for practical reasons, such as payment processing costs, and can’t pre-fill suggested amounts. Picking a figure from your budget rather than the app’s caps is the safer route; see setting a gambling budget on your phone.
