Lost or stolen phone with a casino app
If you have a lost or stolen phone with a casino app on it, your money isn’t on the phone: it sits in your casino account. Lock or locate the device with Find My or Google Find Hub, change your casino and email passwords from another device, ask the casino to secure the account, and tell your bank and mobile network.
Key takeaways
- Your casino balance is held on your account, not the phone, so it isn’t lost with the handset.
- Use Find My (iPhone) or Find Hub (Android) to lock, locate or erase the phone straight away.
- Change your casino and email passwords from another device, then contact the casino’s support team.
- Remove cards from Apple Pay or Google Wallet remotely and ask your network to block the SIM.
- On a new phone, reinstall the app from the official store and sign in; you may be asked to verify again.

Lost or stolen phone with a casino app: is your money safe?
Yes, your balance itself is safe. A casino app is only a window onto an account held on the operator’s servers, so losing the phone doesn’t lose the funds, your bonus progress or your history. Install the app on any other phone, sign in, and everything is still there.
The risk is someone else using the phone to get into that account before you lock it down. If the phone was taken unlocked, or the casino app was set to stay signed in with no biometric check, a thief could in theory gamble your balance or deposit from a saved card. UK rules limit the damage: withdrawals generally go back to payment methods in your own name, and since October 2021 a UK casino can’t let anyone reverse a pending withdrawal to play it. Speed still matters, so work through the steps below in order.
The first 15 minutes: lock the phone
Use a laptop, tablet or a friend’s phone. Locking the device first protects every app on it, not just the casino.
If it’s an iPhone
- Open the Find My website on iCloud, or the Find My app on another Apple device, and sign in with your Apple Account.
- Select the missing iPhone and choose Mark As Lost (Lost Mode). This locks the phone, shows a message with a contact number and suspends Apple Pay cards on it.
- If the map shows it nearby, play a sound to find it. If it’s clearly gone, consider Erase This Device, but only after you’ve noted its location for the police.
- Leave the phone on your account; removing it disables Activation Lock, which stops a thief reusing it.
If it’s an Android phone
- Open Google Find Hub (previously called Find My Device) on another device and sign in with the Google account on the phone.
- Choose Secure device to lock it and show a recovery message on the screen.
- Use Play sound if it may be nearby; use Factory reset device only once you’ve given up on recovering it.
- Samsung users can also use Samsung Find, which offers similar lock and erase options.
Erasing a phone removes the casino app and its saved login, but it also stops you tracking the device. If there’s a realistic chance of getting it back, lock first and erase later.
Secure your casino account from another device
Next, cut off access to the account itself. You can do all of this from the casino’s website in a browser or from the app on another phone.
- Sign in on another device and change your casino password (usually under My Account > Security or Settings).
- Change the password on the email account linked to the casino, because it controls password resets.
- Look for an option to sign out of all devices or end other sessions; not every app has one.
- Open your transaction history and note any deposits, bets or withdrawal requests you didn’t make.
- Contact the casino’s support team, explain the phone is lost or stolen, and ask them to secure or temporarily suspend the account.
- Remove saved debit cards from the cashier if you’d rather re-add them once you have a new phone.
Our guide to resetting a casino app password shows the screens involved, and the page on casino app transaction history explains where to find a full record.
How to reach each casino’s support team
Support teams can lock an account, check recent activity and advise on getting back in. The channels below come from each operator’s published contact details or, where marked, from third-party reviews; hours can change, so check the help centre if a channel doesn’t answer.
| Casino | Contact options | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Coral | Live chat; email help@coral.co.uk | Live chat reported as 24/7 by a third-party review |
| Ladbrokes | Live chat; email support@ladbrokes.com; phone | Live chat reported as 24/7 by a third-party review; phone hours not published |
| Casumo | Email hey@casumo.com | UK support hours published as 7:00–23:00 |
| 10bet | Phone 0808 175 0550; email support@10bet.co.uk; live chat | Phone 08:00–23:00 daily; live chat needs you to be logged in |
| PlayOJO | See the help section on the website | Contact options and hours not verified |

Bank cards, Apple Pay and Google Wallet
Payment details on your phone are usually better protected than people fear. Apple Pay and Google Pay use a device-specific token rather than your real card number, and each payment needs Face ID, a fingerprint or the passcode. Even so, remove them remotely to be sure.
- iPhone: Lost Mode suspends Apple Pay. You can also remove cards from the device in your Apple Account settings online.
- Android: sign in to your Google account on another device and remove the phone’s payment cards from Google Wallet, or let Find Hub’s Secure device option handle it.
- Banking apps: call your bank or use its app on another device to freeze the card and review recent payments. Most UK banks also have a lost-card option online.
- PayPal: change your PayPal password and check its activity, since casino deposits through PayPal are protected only as well as that login.
If your bank has a gambling block feature, it remains on whatever happens to the phone; our guide to bank gambling blocks explains how they work.
Block the SIM and tell your mobile network
Call your network provider from another phone and ask them to block the SIM (or eSIM) and the handset. This stops the thief using your number to receive one-time codes, which matters if your casino or email account sends two-factor authentication codes by text. Ask for a replacement SIM or eSIM on the same number so you can receive codes again on your new phone.
The network will want the phone’s IMEI number to block the handset. It’s usually on the original box, your bill or your online account with the network.
Reporting a stolen phone to the police
If the phone was stolen, report it to the police online or on 101 and keep the crime reference number. You’ll need it for insurance and it helps if anyone later uses your accounts. If money has been taken from your casino account or bank, report the fraud too: in England, Wales and Northern Ireland the Report Fraud service (which replaced Action Fraud) takes reports on 0300 123 2040; in Scotland, contact Police Scotland on 101.
Checklist: who to contact and why
| Who | Why | When |
|---|---|---|
| Apple or Google (Find My / Find Hub) | Lock, locate or erase the phone | Immediately |
| Email provider | Change password so nobody can reset others | Within the first hour |
| Casino support | Secure or suspend the account, review activity | Within the first hour |
| Bank and PayPal | Freeze cards, check payments | Within the first hour |
| Mobile network | Block SIM and handset, order replacement | Same day |
| Police | Crime reference for theft or fraud | Same day |
| Insurer | Claim for the handset | Once you have a crime reference |
Getting back into your casino app on a new phone
Download the app only from the App Store or Google Play, and check the developer name matches the operator before you install; our guides to installing casino apps on iPhone and on Android show how. Sign in with your new password. Because the device is unfamiliar, the casino may ask for a code, extra security questions or even fresh documents; that’s a sign the system is working. Our page on casino app verification explains what can be requested.
Then rebuild your protections: set up Face ID or fingerprint login if the app offers it, restore your password manager, and check your deposit limits and other safer gambling settings are still in place. They’re stored on your account, so they should be.
Prepare now so a lost phone is a minor problem
- Turn on Find My or Find Hub today and check you know your Apple or Google password.
- On iPhone, switch on Stolen Device Protection in Settings > Face ID & Passcode.
- Use a six-digit or longer passcode, never a simple pattern on Android.
- Give your casino a password you use nowhere else, stored in a password manager; see password managers and casino apps.
- Hide notification previews on the lock screen so a thief can’t read codes or balances.
- Write down your network’s phone number and your casino’s support contact somewhere off the phone.

Frequently asked questions
Will I lose my casino balance if my phone is stolen?
No. Your balance is held in your casino account on the operator’s systems, not on the phone, so it stays exactly where it was. Sign in from another device to check it, change your password and ask support to secure the account if you think anyone could have got in. Pending withdrawals keep processing as normal and, under UK rules, can’t be reversed back into the balance by someone else. Once you have a new phone, reinstall the app and sign in. The guide to how casino app withdrawals work explains the payout process.
Can a thief use my casino app if my phone is locked?
It’s very difficult. A phone with a strong passcode and Face ID or fingerprint unlock keeps the casino app closed, along with its saved login. The risk rises if the phone was snatched while unlocked, uses a simple four-digit code or pattern, or has the casino app signed in without any biometric check. That’s why locking the phone remotely and changing your casino password from another device are the first two steps. Stolen Device Protection on iPhone adds another barrier. See our guide to casino app security.
Should I ask the casino to close my account?
Usually not; ask them to secure or temporarily suspend it instead. Closing an account is a bigger step that can be slow to undo, and it isn’t needed just because a phone is missing. Changing your password, and the support team checking recent activity, normally deals with the risk. If you were already thinking of stopping gambling, though, this is a reasonable moment to take a break or self-exclude. Our guide to account closure vs self-exclusion explains the difference between the options.
How do I log in to my casino app on a new phone?
Install the app from the App Store or Google Play, check the developer matches the casino’s operator, then sign in with your email and password. Because the device is new, you might be asked for a one-time code, security questions or occasionally fresh documents. If codes come by text, you’ll need your replacement SIM or eSIM first. Your balance, history, bonuses and limits are all stored on the account, so they reappear once you’re signed in. For how sessions work across phones, see using a casino app on two devices.
Does wiping my phone remotely delete my casino account?
No. Erasing the phone through Find My or Find Hub removes the app and anything stored on the device, but your casino account, balance and history stay on the operator’s systems. Deleting an app never closes the account behind it. You can sign in again from any device once you have one. If you actually want to close the account, that’s done through the casino’s settings or support team. Whether deleting a casino app closes your account is covered in detail on its own page.
What if someone has already used my casino account from my stolen phone?
Contact the casino’s support team straight away, tell them the phone was stolen, and list the transactions you don’t recognise. They can suspend the account and investigate. Freeze your cards with your bank and report the fraud to the Report Fraud service on 0300 123 2040, or to Police Scotland on 101 if you live in Scotland. Keep your crime reference and screenshots of the activity. Our guide on what to do if your casino app account is hacked explains the investigation and complaints process in more detail.
Do I need to verify my identity again after losing my phone?
Sometimes. Your existing verification stays on the account, but casinos may run extra checks when you sign in from a new device, particularly after you’ve reported a lost or stolen phone or changed your details. That could be a code sent to your phone or email, security questions, or a request for photo ID or a selfie. It’s a normal fraud protection rather than a sign of a problem. Our guide to casino app verification and the page on why an app might be asking for documents explain what to expect.
Can I stop someone using Apple Pay on my lost iPhone for casino deposits?
Yes. Putting the iPhone into Lost Mode through Find My suspends Apple Pay on that device, and you can also remove its cards through your Apple Account online. Apple Pay payments need Face ID, Touch ID or the passcode anyway, so a locked phone is already hard to pay from. Call your bank too if you want the card itself frozen. Remember that Apple Pay must be backed by a debit card to gamble in Great Britain. Our Apple Pay casino apps page explains how wallet deposits work.
