Coral app verification confirms your name, age and address before you can deposit, play or withdraw, as UK Gambling Commission rules require. Most checks run automatically when you register. If they don’t, Coral asks you to photograph a passport or driving licence and, sometimes, a recent bill or statement, and aims to review uploads within 36 hours.
Coral must verify your name, age and address; until it does, you can’t deposit, bet, withdraw or open free-play games.
Most UK customers pass automatic checks at sign-up; documents are only needed if those don’t match.
Upload photos in the Coral app, through the online uploader, or by email to documents@coral.co.uk.
Coral aims to review documents within 36 hours, and may ask again later as part of routine or source of funds checks.

What Coral app verification checks and why
Coral’s help centre explains that UK Gambling Commission rules require it to verify the name, age and address of every customer. The process is often called Know Your Customer, or KYC. Its purposes are to keep under-18s out, stop people using stolen identities, and make sure money is paid to the right person.
Verification is linked to your Coral account, not to the app. Whether you joined in the casino app, the sportsbook app or on the website, the same checks apply once, and the result carries across. Our general guide to casino app verification explains how the process works across UK operators.
Automatic checks when you sign up in the Coral app
When you register, Coral checks your details against third-party records; across the industry these are typically electoral roll and credit reference data. Coral’s age verification policy says most checks are automated and that in some cases it uses certified identity-checking companies, which may lead to a request for documents. For most people the result comes back within moments and no paperwork is needed.
To give the automatic check the best chance, enter your details exactly as they appear on official records: full first name rather than a nickname, the date of birth on your passport, and your current postcode. A mismatch, such as a recent house move not yet on the electoral roll, is the usual reason for a document request. The how casino apps check your age page explains what the databases contain.
Age checks before play, including free-play games
Coral’s policy is clear that until verification is complete you can’t deposit, bet or access any gambling product, whether real money or free play. That matches a UK rule in force since May 2019: operators must verify age before letting anyone try free-to-play or demo versions of games.
In the Coral app that means the lobby may be visible before you are verified, but tapping a slot, including its demo mode, won’t start it. The app’s free-to-play games with prizes are covered by the same rule. See casino app demo mode needs verification and free casino apps for how demos work once you are verified.
Documents Coral accepts for ID and address
If Coral needs documents, it asks for photo ID and, where the ID doesn’t confirm your registered address, a separate proof of address. Coral’s help centre lists these examples; the list isn’t exhaustive and depends on what the check needs.

A photocard driving licence with your current address can cover both ID and address in one document. Coral notes that a non-UK driving licence can confirm name and age but not your UK address, and that online statements are fine if they are legible, dated within 3 months and show your full name and registered address.
How to upload verification documents in the Coral app
Coral lists three ways to send documents: its online uploader (which it recommends), the Android and iOS apps, and email to documents@coral.co.uk if you can’t get into your account. On a phone, the in-app route is the most direct.
Log in to the Coral casino app. If documents are needed, a message or banner usually appears straight away.
Open the verification or document upload area from the prompt or your account menu.
Choose the document type, for example passport or driving licence.
Tap to take a photo with the camera, or pick an existing photo from your library.
Photograph both sides of a driving licence or ID card; for a passport, only the photo page.
Add proof of address if asked, then submit and wait for Coral’s confirmation.
How long Coral verification takes
Automatic checks at sign-up usually finish within seconds. When documents are needed, Coral says it aims to review them within 36 hours. That is a target rather than a promise, and a rejected document restarts the clock, so clear photos are the best way to keep it short.

Coral states it can only verify you at the address registered on your account, and that if it can’t verify an address you can’t hold an account. If you’ve moved, see changing your details in a casino app. If you live abroad now, Coral says you need to close your UK account and open one for your new country; using UK casino apps abroad explains why.
Further checks later: re-verification and source of funds
Verification isn’t always one and done. Coral’s help centre says it may ask for documents again during routine account checks, even if you’ve provided some before, and that further checks can follow based on account activity, usually how much you deposit. These are sometimes called source of funds or affordability checks and can involve payslips or bank statements.
Coral also says that if you don’t verify when asked, restrictions on deposits, bets and withdrawals will apply. Accounts that come back after 13 months of inactivity may need to re-verify at login too. If a request feels intrusive, remember it is a regulatory requirement, and our page on a casino app asking for documents explains what operators can ask for.
What happens to your documents after upload
Coral says documents are sent over an encrypted SSL connection, stored in a secured data centre and viewed only by the staff carrying out verification. It refers to its terms and privacy notice for how long data is kept. Only upload documents through the app, the uploader or the official email address, and never in reply to an unexpected text or email asking for ID. After verification: claiming Coral’s welcome spins
Once verified, new customers aged 18+ can deposit (some methods excluded) and bet £10 on slots to receive 100 spins at 10p each, which must be accepted within 48 hours and used within 7 days, with no wagering on winnings. PayPal, Skrill, Neteller, Paysafe, prepaid cards and certain debit cards don’t qualify; T&Cs apply. The Coral app welcome offer page has the full steps.
Verification comes first at every UK casino, so you can only claim Coral’s welcome spins once checks are done. Ladbrokes runs the same Entain verification process with its own spins offer, and PlayOJO is the alternative with no-wagering spins; 18+, T&Cs apply.
Coral and Ladbrokes are both run by LC International Limited (Entain). If you already hold an account with one Entain brand, you may not be able to open a new account with another; check the terms before signing up.

Frequently asked questions
Why does the Coral app need to verify me?
Coral must verify every customer’s name, age and address under UK Gambling Commission rules. The checks keep under-18s out, help prevent identity fraud and money laundering, and make sure winnings are paid to the right person. Every licensed UK casino does the same, so a site that skips checks entirely should be avoided. Most people pass automatically at sign-up without sending anything. The safe casino apps guide explains how verification fits into the wider protections licensed apps must provide.
How long does Coral verification take?
Automatic checks at registration usually finish within seconds. If Coral asks for documents, it says it aims to review them within 36 hours of upload. A rejected document means a fresh review, so sending clear, complete photos the first time keeps the wait short. Later checks, such as source of funds, don’t have a published timescale. Verifying straight after sign-up rather than when you first want to withdraw avoids delays later. See Coral app withdrawal times for how verification affects payouts.
Can I play on the Coral app before I’m verified?
No, Coral’s policy says you can’t deposit, bet or access any gambling product, real money or free play, until verification is complete. You can usually open the app and see the lobby, but games won’t start. This follows UK rules that have required age checks before free-to-play and demo games since May 2019. Most people are verified automatically within moments of registering, so in practice the wait is short. Our page on demo mode needing verification explains the rule.
What documents does Coral accept?
Coral accepts a passport photo page, a photocard driving licence (front and back) or an ID card (front and back) as photo ID; provisional licences count, and an expired passport is accepted with a birth certificate. For address, it accepts bank statements and utility bills issued within 3 months, or documents such as a council tax bill, HMRC letter or tenancy agreement issued within 12 months. Coral says the list isn’t exhaustive. The casino app asking for documents page explains what operators generally request.
How do I send documents to Coral from my phone?
You can upload documents directly in the Coral app for Android or iOS, use Coral’s online document uploader, or email them to documents@coral.co.uk if you can’t log in. In the app, follow the verification prompt, choose the document type, then take a photo or pick one from your library. Photograph both sides of a driving licence or ID card. Coral says a phone camera is fine and you don’t need a scanner. See our general casino app verification guide for photo tips.
Why was my Coral ID rejected?
Coral rejects ID that doesn’t clearly show your first name, last name, date of birth and photo, and needs both sides of a driving licence or ID card. Address proof is rejected if it is too old or shows a different address from the one on your account. Blurry, cropped or glare-covered photos are the most common practical cause. Retake the photo flat, in daylight and without flash, then resubmit. If your address has changed, update it first. The change your details guide explains how.
Why is Coral asking for more documents when I’m already verified?
Coral says it may ask for documents again during routine account checks, even if you have provided some before, and that additional checks can follow based on account activity, usually the amount you deposit. These later requests may cover source of funds, such as payslips or bank statements. If you don’t respond, Coral can restrict deposits, bets and withdrawals. The requests are a regulatory requirement rather than a sign of wrongdoing. Our Coral app customer service page explains how to query a request.
Is it safe to upload my passport to the Coral app?
Coral says documents are sent over an encrypted SSL connection, stored in a secured data centre and seen only by the staff who carry out verification. Coral is run by LC International Limited under UK Gambling Commission account 54743, which brings data protection obligations. The main risk is fake requests, so only upload through the official app, the online uploader or documents@coral.co.uk, never via a link in an unexpected message. The is the Coral app safe page covers Coral’s licence and security.
Does verification at Coral affect my credit score?
Identity and age checks used by UK gambling operators are normally soft searches, which confirm who you are without affecting your credit score or showing to lenders. Coral’s help centre says most of its checks are automated and carried out with certified third-party identity companies; it doesn’t describe them as credit applications. Later affordability or source of funds checks may ask you for documents rather than running a credit search. See how casino apps check your age for what the databases contain.
