Is the Coral app safe?

Is the Coral app safe? Yes: it is a legitimate, regulated app run by LC International Limited, part of Entain, under UK Gambling Commission account 54743, and it is listed on the official App Store and Google Play. Safe means your money, data and games are protected by UK rules. It doesn’t mean you are likely to win.

Key takeaways

  • Coral is operated by LC International Limited (Entain) under UKGC account 54743.
  • Download only from the App Store or Google Play and check the developer name.
  • Coral’s games use independently audited random number generators, and RTPs are shown in each game’s info.
  • Payments follow closed-loop rules, credit cards are banned and Coral charges no withdrawal fees.
  • Disputes go through a three-stage complaints process, then IBAS.

Is the Coral app safe? The short answer

Coral has been a British betting name for decades, and its casino app is a regulated product of one of the largest UK-listed gambling groups. The app is a front end to the same Coral account you would use on the website, so it is covered by the same licence, the same payment protections and the same complaints route. Apple and Google only allow real-money gambling apps from licensed operators on their UK stores.

There are still two ways to come to harm. The first is a fake app or lookalike site that only borrows Coral’s name; the sections below show how to avoid that. The second is the gambling itself: every casino game has a house edge, so losses are the expected result over time. A safe app gives you tools to manage that, but you have to use them. Our general guide on casino app safety covers the wider checks.

Who runs Coral and how it is licensed

DetailWhat Coral’s terms and the register show
Operating companyLC International Limited, part of Entain
Registered officeGibraltar, company number 46808
Great Britain regulatorUK Gambling Commission, account 54743
Remote casino licenceActive on the UKGC register since 1 July 2019
Outside Great BritainGibraltar licences RGL 010 (betting) and RGL 012 (casino)
Sister brandLadbrokes, run by the same company

The UK licence is what matters for players in Great Britain. It obliges Coral to keep customer funds in line with its published protection level, verify age and identity, offer safer gambling tools, follow the advertising codes and take part in independent dispute resolution. The UKGC can fine or suspend an operator that breaks those conditions. Our explainer on the remote gambling licence describes what it covers.

How to check Coral’s licence yourself

  1. Scroll to the bottom of the Coral website, or the about or terms screen in the app, and find the licence statement.
  2. Note the operator name, LC International Limited, and the account number, 54743.
  3. Open the Gambling Commission’s public register in your phone’s browser and search for that account number.
  4. Check the status shows the licence as active and the trading names include Coral’s domain.
  5. Compare the name on the register with the developer on the App Store or Google Play listing.

This takes two minutes and works for any UK casino. Our step-by-step guide on how to check a casino licence shows what each field on the register means.

Making sure you have the genuine Coral app

On the App Store, the genuine app is called Coral Casino: Slots & Games. Its listing names Entain as the provider, with copyright held by LC International Limited, and it is rated 18+. On Google Play, Coral™ Casino: Slots & Games is published by LC International Limited and rated PEGI 18. The iOS app needs iOS 18.0 or later on iPhone and iPad.

Avoid any ‘Coral’ app from a different developer, any APK file offered on a website, and any link sent by text or social media. Google Play allows real-money gambling apps in Great Britain only from licensed operators it has approved, so there is no reason to install a Coral casino app from anywhere else. Our guides on how to check a casino app developer and how to spot fake casino apps explain the warning signs, and our Coral download guide walks through installation.

Account security: passwords, log-in and encryption

Coral’s account protection page sets out sensible password rules: at least eight characters, a mix of upper and lower case with at least one digit, nothing based on personal details or dictionary words, and never the same as your username or a password used elsewhere. It says never to tell anyone your password, even someone claiming to be from Coral, and to log off on shared devices.

Coral’s help centre also says its site requires TLS 1.2 encryption for connections, so data travelling between your phone and Coral is encrypted. The store listings don’t say whether the app supports Face ID or fingerprint log-in, so check the log-in screen and app settings. A password manager makes long, unique passwords painless; our guides on password managers and casino apps and two-factor authentication explain both.

Coral lists three signs your account may be compromised: details changed without your action, deposits, withdrawals or bets you didn’t make, and a password-change notification you didn’t trigger. If you see any of them, change your password and contact customer support straight away.

What data the Coral app collects

Apple’s privacy label for Coral Casino lists data linked to your identity, including contact information, financial information, identifiers, usage data, search history, user content and coarse location. It also lists user content and usage data as used to track you, which means it may be combined with data from other companies for advertising or measurement. Diagnostics are collected but not linked to you.

Much of that is unavoidable for a regulated gambling account: Coral must know who you are, verify your age, check where you are playing from and keep transaction records. Google Play’s data safety section is the Android equivalent; read it on the listing before installing, because the summaries there are written by the developer. Coral’s privacy notice in its help centre explains your rights, including asking for a copy of your data. On iPhone you can refuse app tracking in Settings, Privacy & Security, Tracking. Our guide to casino apps and your personal data explains the labels.

How safe are payments in the Coral app?

Coral’s cashier accepts debit cards (Visa, Mastercard and Maestro), PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Pay by Bank and paysafecard, according to its help centre. Credit cards can’t be used for gambling in Great Britain, including through a wallet funded by a credit card. Several rules work in your favour:

  • Closed loop: withdrawals go back to the method you deposited with where possible, which makes it hard for anyone to divert your money.
  • Payment method cap: UK customers can use up to three active payment methods in a rolling 30 days.
  • Deposit cap: Coral’s help centre states a maximum of £2,000 per deposit for UK customers.
  • No fees: Coral says it doesn’t charge withdrawal fees.
  • No reverse withdrawals: once you request a payout, the casino can’t let you cancel it to keep playing.

Apple Pay and Google Pay add a layer of protection because Coral receives a token rather than your card number. Our Coral withdrawal time page covers payout speeds, and Coral app deposit methods explains each method.

Are Coral’s games fair?

Coral says its casino, bingo and poker results are produced by random number generators that have been independently audited and tested by regulator-approved testing houses for unpredictability and fair distribution. Its in-house team also checks that each game’s actual return stays close to its theoretical RTP, and Coral advises checking the information section of each game for its RTP. Third-party game suppliers must themselves be licensed.

Live dealer games run in controlled studios, are recorded and monitored and are subject to statistical checks, according to Coral’s fair gaming page. Fair means the published odds are real, not that they favour you: the house edge is built into every game, and short-term results swing widely in either direction. Our explainers on how casino apps are tested and are casino apps rigged? go deeper.

Age and identity checks

UK rules require Coral to verify your age and identity before you can deposit or play, including free-to-play demo games. Most checks run automatically against public records at sign-up; if they can’t confirm you, the app asks for documents such as a passport or driving licence and a proof of address. Coral may also ask for financial information as part of affordability or source-of-funds checks. These checks protect you as much as the operator, because they make it harder for someone to open an account in your name. Our Coral app verification page explains the process.

If something goes wrong: complaints and IBAS

Coral’s UK terms set out a three-stage complaints process: customer services, then a team leader or line manager, then a formal complaint to complaints@coral.co.uk. Coral aims to acknowledge within 24 hours and give a final position within eight weeks. If you reach deadlock, you can take the dispute to IBAS, the Independent Betting Adjudication Service, within 12 months. Access to an independent adjudicator is a licence requirement, and it is one of the clearest differences between a UK-licensed app and an unlicensed one. Our Coral customer service page gives the full route.

Safer gambling protections in the Coral app

Coral offers daily, weekly and monthly deposit limits, time-outs of up to six weeks, self-exclusion from six months to indefinite, and product closure. UK rules add slot stake caps of £5 a spin for over-25s and £2 for 18 to 24-year-olds, a 2.5-second minimum spin time and a ban on autoplay. Our page on Coral deposit limits and safer gambling tools shows where each one sits in the app.

Frequently asked questions

Is Coral a legitimate casino?

Yes. Coral is operated by LC International Limited, part of the Entain group, and is licensed by the UK Gambling Commission under account 54743. The company is registered in Gibraltar, and Coral’s terms also show Gibraltar licences for customers outside Great Britain. Its casino app is listed on the official App Store and Google Play. You can confirm the licence by searching the account number on the Commission’s public register. Our guide on how to check a casino licence explains each step, and our Coral app review covers the app as a whole.

Is my money safe in a Coral account?

Your money is protected by UK licence rules, but not in the same way as a bank account. Coral must protect customer funds in line with the level it publishes, use closed-loop payments, and process withdrawals without reversal. Coral says it charges no withdrawal fees, and credit cards can’t be used. Funds in a gambling account aren’t covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, so it is sensible not to leave large balances sitting there. Our Coral withdrawal time page explains payouts, and how to withdraw from casino apps covers the general process.

How do I know the Coral app I’m downloading is real?

Download only from the App Store or Google Play and check the developer. On iPhone, the genuine app is Coral Casino: Slots & Games, with Entain as provider and copyright held by LC International Limited; on Android, Coral™ Casino: Slots & Games is published by LC International Limited. Both are rated for adults only. Ignore APK files, text-message links and social media ads offering a ‘Coral’ app. Our guides to how to check a casino app developer and how to spot fake casino apps show what to compare.

Does the Coral app use Face ID?

The App Store and Google Play listings for Coral Casino don’t mention Face ID, Touch ID or fingerprint log-in, so we can’t confirm biometric support from the listings. Check the log-in screen or the app’s settings after installing. Whatever the app offers, the account itself depends on a strong, unique password; Coral recommends at least eight characters with mixed case and a number, never reused elsewhere. Our guide on how to enable Face ID on casino apps explains how biometrics work where available, and Coral app login problems covers sign-in issues.

Are Coral slots rigged?

No. Coral says its games use random number generators that have been independently audited by regulator-approved testing houses, and that its own team checks each game’s actual return against its theoretical RTP. Each result is independent, so past spins don’t change future odds. That doesn’t make slots favourable: every game has a built-in house edge, so you should expect to lose over time. The RTP is shown in each game’s information section. Our page on are casino apps rigged? and the house edge glossary entry explain how fairness and the edge coexist.

What data does the Coral app collect?

Apple’s privacy label lists contact information, financial information, identifiers, usage data, search history, user content and coarse location as linked to you, with user content and usage data also used for tracking. Much of this is required for age checks, location checks and transaction records. On iPhone, you can refuse app tracking in Settings, Privacy & Security, Tracking. On Android, read the Data safety section of the Google Play listing before installing. Coral’s privacy notice explains your rights. Our guides on casino apps and your personal data and casino app privacy settings go further.

What should I do if my Coral account is hacked?

Change your password straight away and contact Coral’s customer support. Coral lists the warning signs as details changed without your action, deposits, withdrawals or bets you didn’t make, and password-change notifications you didn’t trigger. Also change the password on your email account, since it is the route used for resets, and tell your bank if card payments look wrong. Closed-loop rules mean withdrawals normally return to your own payment methods, which limits what an intruder can do. Our guide to a hacked casino app account and Coral customer service explain the next steps.

Can I complain about Coral to an independent body?

Yes. Once Coral’s three-stage internal process has ended in deadlock, UK customers can take the dispute to IBAS, the Independent Betting Adjudication Service, which acts as an impartial adjudicator. Coral’s terms say you must refer it within 12 months of the dispute arising. Start with customer services, then ask for a manager’s review, then email complaints@coral.co.uk, where Coral aims to give a final position within eight weeks. Our ADR glossary entry explains the role of adjudicators, and how to complain about a casino app has a template.

Is it safe to play Coral on public Wi-Fi?

It is reasonably safe because Coral’s connection is encrypted with TLS 1.2, but it is still better to avoid logging in to gambling or banking accounts on open public networks. Use mobile data for deposits and withdrawals where you can, and never log in through a captive portal page that asks for your Coral details. Don’t use a VPN to disguise your connection: UK casino apps check your location, and a VPN can trigger blocks or account reviews. Our guides to casino apps on public Wi-Fi and can you use a VPN on casino apps? explain why.
