Quickspin mobile slots are story-led video slots from a Stockholm studio owned by Playtech since 2016, best known for Big Bad Wolf and Sakura Fortune, and they run inside UK casino apps on iPhone and Android. This guide explains how the games are built, why the same Quickspin slot can carry very different RTPs, and how to find the studio's games in an app.
Quickspin started in Stockholm in the early 2010s and has been part of Playtech since May 2016.
Big Bad Wolf has a published RTP of 97.34%, one of the higher figures among well-known UK slots.
Some Quickspin games exist in very different RTP versions, such as Sakura Fortune at up to 96.58% or around 90%.
The studio now also makes live casino games under the Quickspin Live name.

Quickspin: a Stockholm studio inside Playtech
Quickspin was set up in Stockholm in the early 2010s; reference listings give 2012 as the founding year. Playtech, the London-listed gambling technology group, bought the studio in May 2016, and Quickspin has run as a games brand within the group ever since. Alongside its Stockholm base, it has offices in Sliema, Malta and Kyiv, Ukraine.
In Great Britain Quickspin is licensed by the Gambling Commission under account 38516, and Quickspin AB also holds a Malta Gaming Authority supply licence (MGA/CRP/137/2007). The studio says it releases at least two games a month and has moved into live dealer games with a separate brand, Quickspin Live, whose stated aim is a new live game every quarter.
Because Quickspin belongs to Playtech, you will often find it in casinos that also stock Playtech games, but the two catalogues are separate. Our Playtech page covers the parent company's own slots and jackpots.
The Quickspin style: fairy tales, polish and steady features
Quickspin earned its name with slots that retell familiar stories. Its early hit Big Bad Wolf turned the three little pigs into a reel game, Goldilocks followed the same idea with bears and porridge bowls, and later titles moved into Asian, Western and fantasy themes. The games tend to have clear paylines, readable symbols and bonus rounds that build gradually rather than resting everything on one jackpot moment.
That makes many Quickspin slots comfortable on a phone. With 20 to 40 paylines on a 5×3 or 5×4 grid, symbols stay large in portrait, and the bonus features are mostly visible on the reels themselves rather than in side panels that get squeezed.
Recurring Quickspin mechanics
Swooping reels. Quickspin's name for cascading reels: winning symbols drop away and new ones fall in, as in Big Bad Wolf.
Transforming symbols. In Big Bad Wolf, pig symbols turn wild after a run of consecutive cascades.
Sticky and spreading wilds. Sticky Bandits keeps wilds in place across respins, a style explained under sticky wild.
Growing grids. Phoenix Sun adds rows as you win, taking the reels from 243 to 7,776 ways.

Why one Quickspin slot can have very different RTPs
Quickspin, like most studios, lets casinos choose from several RTP versions of a game. Usually the gap is a point or two. Sakura Fortune is a striking example: the published maximum is 96.58%, but a version at around 90% also exists. Visually the two are identical.
Here is what that means in pounds. Over a very long run, the 96.58% version is designed to return about £96.58 for every £100 staked, a theoretical cost of £3.42. The roughly 90% version returns about £90, a theoretical cost of around £10, nearly three times as much. In a single evening the difference is hidden by luck, but over many sessions it adds up. This is why the RTP range of a game matters as much as the headline figure.
Open the Quickspin slot in your casino app.
Tap the menu icon, usually at the bottom left or right in portrait.
Open Game rules or Paytable and scroll to the return to player line.
Write down the figure, or screenshot it, and compare with the published maximum.
If the number is well below the top version, consider a different game or casino.
Quickspin games are HTML5 and load within your casino's app or mobile site. The studio's mid-sized grids mean portrait play generally works well: reels on top, win line and balance below, then the spin and stake controls. Some players prefer landscape for 5×3 games because the reels fill more of the screen; both views show the same game and the same result.

Data use is modest compared with live games, but the first load is the biggest. If you are on a capped plan, see Wi-Fi vs mobile data for casino apps.
Quickspin Live: the studio's live casino games
Quickspin Live is the studio's move into live casino games, streamed from a studio with a real presenter. One of its featured titles, Big Bad Wolf Live, borrows the theme of its best-known slot. Live games use far more data than slots because you are watching video, and UK rules for non-slot games require at least 5 seconds per round with no autoplay. If you are new to live play on a phone, our guide on how to play live casino on mobile explains the screen layout.
UK rules that shape Quickspin slots in apps
British versions of Quickspin slots have no autoplay, turbo or slam-stop, take at least 2.5 seconds per spin, and do not celebrate a return smaller than your stake. Feature buys are not offered to players in Great Britain. Stakes are capped at £5 per spin from age 25 and at £2 per spin for those aged 18 to 24. Demo play is only available after the casino has verified your age. Our UK slot design rules guide explains each rule.

Frequently asked questions
Who owns Quickspin?
Quickspin has been owned by Playtech since May 2016. Playtech is a gambling technology group listed on the London Stock Exchange, with headquarters in Douglas, Isle of Man. Quickspin continues to design and release its own games from Stockholm, with further offices in Malta and Ukraine, so its catalogue is separate from Playtech's in-house slots. In Great Britain Quickspin holds Gambling Commission account 38516. If you want to compare the two, our Playtech mobile slots page covers the parent company's games, including the Age of the Gods jackpots.
What is the RTP of Big Bad Wolf?
The published RTP of Big Bad Wolf is 97.34%, which is high for a well-known slot, but the version a casino runs may be lower. Over a very long run, that figure means about £97.34 returned for every £100 staked, a theoretical cost of £2.66. Any single session will vary a lot. Check the figure in the game's rules screen before playing. The game is rated medium volatility, with 25 paylines on a 5×3 grid. Our Big Bad Wolf guide covers the swooping reels and the free spins feature.
Why does Sakura Fortune have two RTPs?
Sakura Fortune is supplied in more than one RTP version, and each casino chooses which to offer. The published top version is 96.58%, while a version around 90% also exists. The game looks and plays the same in each; only the long-run return differs. On £100 staked, the theoretical cost is about £3.42 at the top version and about £10 at the lower one. UK casinos must show the live figure in the game's help screen, so check it before you spin. See our RTP range entry for more.
Is Quickspin licensed in the UK?
Yes, Quickspin is licensed and regulated in Great Britain by the Gambling Commission under account 38516. Quickspin AB also holds a Malta Gaming Authority supply licence. These licences cover the studio's role as a game supplier; you still play through a UK-licensed casino, which holds your account, checks your identity and applies your limits. You can search the account number on the Commission's public register. Our how to check a casino licence guide and remote gambling licence entry explain what the licences mean.
Are Quickspin slots good on a phone?
Quickspin slots generally work well on phones because most use mid-sized 5×3 or 5×4 grids with 20 to 40 paylines, so symbols stay large in portrait. The controls sit beneath the reels, and bonus features happen on the reels rather than in side panels. Older titles can look slightly small in portrait on compact screens, in which case landscape helps. Performance depends more on your phone and connection than on the studio. Our how to play slots on your phone guide covers settings that make any slot easier to use.
Does Quickspin make live casino games?
Yes, Quickspin makes live dealer games under the Quickspin Live brand, which the studio describes as a separate vertical with a goal of one new live game each quarter. Big Bad Wolf Live is one of its featured titles. Live games stream video from a studio, so they use far more data than slots, and UK rules require at least 5 seconds per round with no autoplay. Availability depends on whether your casino has added Quickspin Live. Our live casino apps guide explains how live games work on a phone.
Can I play Quickspin slots for free?
Some UK casinos let you play Quickspin slots in demo mode, but only after verifying your age, as required since May 2019. Not every casino offers demos, and those that do may limit them to certain games. A demo uses play money but shows the same features, paylines and rules, which is a good way to see how swooping reels work before staking. If the demo option is missing, complete your ID check or ask support. Our free slots apps page explains what demo play does and does not include.
What is the maximum bet on Quickspin slots in the UK?
The maximum is £5 per spin if you are aged 25 or over and £2 per spin if you are 18 to 24, as these caps apply to all online slots in Great Britain. Your casino sets the limit automatically from your verified date of birth, so the stake button stops at your cap. A game may also have its own lower maximum, shown in the rules. With an active bonus, a separate maximum bet in the bonus terms can apply as well. Our max bet rules guide explains how the two interact.
