Push Gaming mobile slots are built to be played in portrait on a phone, and the studio's best-known games – Jammin' Jars, Razor Shark and Big Bamboo – are high-volatility titles with big grids and mystery features. This guide covers who Push Gaming is, how its games behave in a UK casino app, which RTP version you may be playing and how to find the games.
Push Gaming is a game studio set up in 2010, with its head office in London and a second base in Ta' Xbiex, Malta. James Marshall is one of its co-founders. In May 2023 LeoVegas Group announced it had taken a majority stake, which puts the studio inside MGM Resorts, the American owner of LeoVegas.
The company supplies games to casinos rather than running a casino of its own, so you never sign up with Push Gaming. Its titles appear inside the lobbies of licensed operators, and the operator you play with holds your balance, runs your verification and applies your limits. For Great Britain, Push Gaming Holding Limited is on the Gambling Commission register under account 054984, and the Malta arm is licensed by the Malta Gaming Authority.
The studio's own site says its games are designed to play perfectly on mobile and describes a portrait-mode design. That matters more than it sounds: plenty of older slots were drawn for a wide monitor and squeezed onto phones later, while Push Gaming builds the vertical layout as a first-class version. You can browse other studios on our slot providers hub.
Push Gaming's signature mechanics on a phone screen
Three ideas run through the catalogue. Knowing them helps you read a new Push Gaming game in seconds rather than tapping through every help page.
Cluster grids with travelling wilds
Jammin' Jars uses an 8×8 grid and cluster pays: five or more matching fruits touching each other form a win, the winning symbols vanish and new ones drop in, much like cascading reels. The jam-jar wilds carry a multiplier that builds as they join wins, so one spin can chain several payouts. On a phone the square grid fills the width of the screen, which keeps every fruit large enough to follow.
Mystery stacks and reveals
Razor Shark and Big Bamboo lean on mystery symbols: stacks that land covered and then flip to show a regular symbol, a multiplier or a cash value. The reveal animation is the moment the game builds tension, and it plays out in the middle of the screen rather than in a corner banner, which suits a narrow display.
Collect-and-grow characters
The Fat series, starting with Fat Rabbit, gives you a character wild that eats collectable symbols and grows across the reels during free spins. It is easy to follow on a small screen because the progress is shown by the character itself rather than a separate meter.

Jammin' Jars 2 was released on 2 June 2021 and keeps the cluster grid of the original while raising the published top prize. Big Bamboo followed in 2022 and moved the studio towards taller grids that still fit a phone in portrait.
How Push Gaming games look and feel in portrait
Open a Push Gaming slot in a casino app with your phone upright and the layout is normally stacked: the grid takes the top two-thirds, the win display sits beneath it, and the spin button, stake selector and menu are along the bottom where your thumb rests. You should not need to rotate the phone, and the game does not shrink into a letterbox the way some landscape-only titles do. Our guide to portrait vs landscape mobile slots explains why that layout is easier one-handed.
Stake: tap the coin or stake icon next to the spin button, then pick a level. The total stake per spin is what counts towards the UK limit.
Paytable and rules: behind the menu icon (three lines or a cog). The rules page lists the RTP of the version you are playing.
Sound: a speaker icon in the menu. Muting does not change anything about the results.
Balance and net position: always on screen in UK versions, usually above the spin button.
The first time you open a game, the app downloads its artwork and sounds, so loading takes longer than on later visits. Big animated grids use more mobile data than a classic three-reel slot; if you are on a limited plan, our casino app data usage guide shows how to keep an eye on it.
RTP versions in Push Gaming slots and what they cost you
Several Push Gaming games are offered to casinos in more than one RTP range. Big Bamboo, for example, has a 96.13% version and a 94.13% version. Both play the same way and look identical; only the long-run return differs.
Here is what that two-point gap means in pounds. Say you play 200 spins at 50p, which is £100 staked. Over a very long run the 96.13% version is designed to return about £96.13 for every £100 staked, a theoretical cost of £3.87. The 94.13% version returns about £94.13, a theoretical cost of £5.87. In a single session on a high-volatility game you could finish far above or far below those numbers, but over time the lower version takes more.
Open the slot in the app and wait for the grid to load.
Tap the menu icon at the bottom of the screen.
Choose Rules, Help or Game info (the label varies by casino).
Scroll to the section on return to player and note the percentage.
Compare it with the figures in the table above to see which version this casino runs.
High volatility on mobile: what a Push Gaming session looks like
Almost every Push Gaming headliner is rated high volatility. In plain terms, a large share of the return is concentrated in rare features, so a typical session has long runs of small or no wins between bigger moments. That is entertainment with a price, not a pattern you can predict or time.
A practical way to set expectations is to size your stake to the number of spins you want. With a £20 budget, 20p spins give you 100 spins, while £1 spins give you 20. On a high-volatility game the shorter session is much more likely to end before a feature lands. Losses are the most likely result over time because the house edge applies to every spin, so set a deposit limit in the app before you start.
UK rules that change Push Gaming slots in British apps
The versions of Push Gaming games served to players in Great Britain differ from some international builds:
No bonus buy. Feature buy is not offered to players in Great Britain, so you reach free spins only by landing the trigger. See bonus buy.
Stake caps. Online slots are limited to £5 per spin if you are 25 or over and £2 per spin if you are 18–24, as our UK stake limits guide explains.
Speed and autoplay. Each spin takes at least 2.5 seconds, with no autoplay, turbo or slam-stop.
No false wins. A return smaller than your stake is not celebrated with win sounds or animations.
Demo play. Free-to-play versions are only available after the casino has verified your age.
If you like Push Gaming's style, three other studios produce games in a similar high-volatility, feature-led vein. The table describes them in general terms; check each game's own rules for its figures.
Casino apps organise their lobbies differently, and not every operator carries every studio. These steps work in most apps:
Log in, using Face ID or a fingerprint if you have set it up.
Tap Search, usually a magnifying glass at the top or in the bottom menu.
Type a game name such as Razor Shark; a studio name sometimes works too.
If the lobby has a Providers or Studios filter, choose Push Gaming to list everything available.
Tap the heart or star on a game to add it to favourites for one-tap access next time.
If nothing comes up, the casino may not stock that studio. Our guide to finding games in a casino app covers filters, favourites and recently played lists.

Frequently asked questions
Can I play Push Gaming slots on an iPhone?
Yes, Push Gaming slots run on iPhone inside any licensed casino app that stocks them. The games are HTML5, so they load within the casino's own app or mobile site rather than as a separate download from the App Store. They are designed for portrait play, so you can hold the phone upright and reach the spin button with your thumb. Check that your casino app is up to date, since older versions can struggle with large animated grids. Our iPhone casino apps guide explains which apps are available and what iOS version each needs.
Who owns Push Gaming?
Push Gaming is majority-owned by LeoVegas Group, which announced its majority stake in May 2023; LeoVegas itself belongs to MGM Resorts. The studio was founded in 2010 and keeps its head office in London, with a second office in Malta. It remains a separate games brand, and its titles are supplied to many casinos beyond LeoVegas. In Great Britain the licensed entity is Push Gaming Holding Limited, Gambling Commission account 054984, which you can look up yourself on the public register. Our guide on how to check a casino licence shows how the register works.
What is the RTP of Jammin' Jars?
The published RTP of Jammin' Jars is 96.83%, but the version a casino runs can be lower, so check the game's rules screen. RTP is a long-run average across millions of spins: for every £100 staked, the game is designed to return about £96.83 over time, but any single session can be very different because the game is high volatility. Open the menu inside the game, tap the rules or help page and look for the return to player figure. Our Jammin' Jars page covers its features in more detail.
Why does Big Bamboo show a different RTP in different apps?
Big Bamboo is supplied in more than one RTP version, and each casino chooses which one to offer. The published versions are 96.13% and 94.13%. The game looks and plays the same in both; the only difference is how much it returns over a very long run. On £100 staked, the gap works out at roughly £2 in theoretical cost. The live figure is always in the game's help screen, which UK rules require casinos to show. Read more about this on our RTP range page and our Big Bamboo guide.
Can I buy the free spins in Push Gaming slots in the UK?
No, feature buy is not offered to players in Great Britain, so Push Gaming's UK versions have no bonus buy button. You can only reach free spins or bonus rounds by landing the trigger symbols during normal play. Some international versions of the same games include a buy option, which is why you may see it in videos filmed outside the UK. Its absence in a British app is normal and not a fault. Our bonus buy entry explains the rule, and the UK slot design rules guide covers the other restrictions.
Are Push Gaming slots safe to play?
Push Gaming slots are safe in the regulatory sense when you play them at a UKGC-licensed casino, because both the studio and the operator are licensed and the games are tested before release. The studio holds Gambling Commission account 054984 for Great Britain. Safe does not mean low cost: the games are high volatility and losses are the most likely outcome over time. Use deposit limits and reality checks in your casino app, and if gambling stops being fun, call the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133. See our safe casino apps guide for what to check before signing up.
Can I play Push Gaming demos without depositing?
Sometimes, but only after the casino has verified your age, which has been the UK rule since May 2019. Some casino apps offer a demo or play-for-fun mode for selected games once your account is verified; others offer real-money play only. If a demo button is missing or greyed out, finishing your ID check usually unlocks it, if the operator offers demos at all. Demo play uses no money but shows the same features and layout. Our help page on demo mode verification explains why apps ask for ID first.
How much mobile data does a Push Gaming slot use?
Push Gaming slots use more data than simple three-reel games because of their large animated grids, but most of it is spent when the game first loads. The casino app downloads the artwork and sound files the first time you open the game, then each spin sends and receives only small amounts of data. Playing on Wi-Fi for the first launch and muting the sound can both help. Data use depends on the game, the casino and your phone, so check your phone's data settings after a session. Our Wi-Fi vs mobile data guide has more tips.
What is the maximum stake on Push Gaming slots in UK apps?
The maximum is £5 per spin if you are 25 or over and £2 per spin if you are aged 18–24, because these limits apply to every online slot in Great Britain. The casino applies the cap automatically based on your verified date of birth, so the stake selector will not go above your limit. Individual games may also have their own lower maximum, shown in the rules. If you have an active bonus, a separate max bet rule may apply on top. Our guide to UK stake limits on mobile slots explains how the two age bands work.
