The Betway casino app is the mobile front end of an account run in Great Britain by Betway Limited, which holds UK Gambling Commission account 39372. This profile sets out who owns the brand, what the store listing shows, how its licence reads on the public register and how to check any casino app before you sign in.
Betway Limited holds UKGC account 39372, with remote casino and betting licences active since 1 November 2014.
The brand is owned by Super Group (SGHC Limited), which has been listed on the New York Stock Exchange since January 2022.
The GB App Store listing we found names Digital Outsource International Limited as seller, so compare that name with the licensee shown in the app's terms.
UK rules apply in full: £5 or £2 slot stake limits, no autoplay, no credit cards and 10x maximum bonus wagering.

Who runs the Betway casino app in the UK
Every real-money app in Great Britain must sit on a licence from the UK Gambling Commission. For Betway, the licence holder is Betway Limited, registered at 9 Empire Stadium Street in Gżira, Malta, and listed on the Commission's public register under account number 39372. The register shows three active remote licences: casino and real-event betting from 1 November 2014, plus virtual-event betting from 9 June 2017.
Betway itself dates back to 2006. Today it belongs to Super Group (SGHC Limited), a holding company whose shares have traded on the New York Stock Exchange since January 2022. Super Group also owns Spin Casino, so the two brands share a corporate parent even though each has its own website and apps.
Holding a remote gambling licence means Betway must follow the same social responsibility code as every other UK operator: age and identity checks, safer gambling tools, affordability monitoring and clear complaint routes. None of that changes because you play on a phone rather than a laptop.

What the Betway casino app is on iPhone and Android
On the UK App Store, the casino listing is titled "Betway - Online Casino & Slots". Its description mentions slots, progressive jackpots, blackjack, roulette, baccarat, video poker, bingo, Slingo and instant-win games, plus live dealer tables such as Lightning Roulette and a daily prize wheel. The listing asks for iOS or iPadOS 15.1 or later, runs on iPhone and iPad, and carries an 18+ age rating.
One detail is worth pausing on. The seller on that listing is Digital Outsource International Limited, with a copyright line naming Microgaming, rather than Betway Limited. Large groups often publish apps through a development or services company, so this isn't unusual, but it is exactly the kind of mismatch you should resolve before typing in card details. Open the app's terms or footer and confirm it names Betway Limited and account 39372; our guide to checking a casino app's developer walks through it.
For Android, look for the listing on Google Play under the Betway name and compare the developer line with the licence holder in the same way. Google only allows real-money gambling apps in Great Britain from licensed operators it has approved, so a genuine listing is far safer than any download offered as an APK file from a website.
How to install and check the Betway app safely
Open the App Store or Google Play on your phone; avoid links in texts, social posts or pop-up ads.
Search for Betway and open the casino listing rather than the first sponsored result.
Scroll to the developer or seller line and the age rating, which should be 18+.
After installing, open the app's menu and find the terms or "About" page; confirm it names Betway Limited and UKGC account 39372.
Search account 39372 on the Gambling Commission public register and check the licence status says Active.
Set a deposit limit in the account settings before your first deposit, not after.
Betway's products and how the brand grew
Betway built its profile on sports betting, with sponsorships across football and motorsport, and runs casino and live casino alongside the sportsbook. In the UK, its casino and betting licences both date from November 2014, when the Commission's point-of-consumption regime began and every operator serving British customers needed a direct licence.
For someone deciding between a single combined app and separate apps, our comparison of casino apps and betting apps explains the trade-offs, including how one wallet can blur the line between a football bet and a slot session. Since 19 January 2026, UK operators can no longer run promotions that require play on one product to unlock a bonus on another, so a sports bet can't be the key to casino spins.
Betway's regulatory record in Great Britain
The public register currently lists no active regulatory actions against Betway Limited. Its history does include two published outcomes: an £11.6 million penalty in 2020 and a £408,945 penalty in 2022, both concerning failings found by the Commission. Penalties of this kind usually relate to anti-money-laundering or social responsibility controls, and the Commission publishes a statement explaining each one.
A past penalty doesn't tell you whether an app is safe to use today, and a clean record isn't a seal of approval. What the register does confirm is that the licence is active and that the operator answers to a regulator with powers to fine, add conditions or suspend. Our casino app safety guide explains how to weigh that information.
UK rules that apply inside the Betway casino app
Because the app runs on a British licence, the same rules apply as on every other UK casino app:
Slot stakes are capped at £5 per spin if you're 25 or over and £2 per spin if you're 18–24 (see UK stake limits on mobile slots).
Slots have no autoplay, no turbo or slam-stop, and each spin takes at least 2.5 seconds.
Other casino games have no autoplay and each round lasts at least 5 seconds.
Bonus wagering can't exceed 10x, and feature buys aren't offered to players in Great Britain.
Credit cards can't be used, including through Apple Pay, Google Pay or a credit-funded e-wallet.
Once requested, a withdrawal can't be reversed to keep playing.
Safer gambling tools to look for in the Betway app
UK-licensed apps must offer deposit limits, time-outs, reality checks and self-exclusion. In practice these sit in the account or "Responsible Gambling" area of the menu. A deposit limit set in the app also applies on the website, because both use the same account.
If you need a longer break, GAMSTOP blocks you from every UK-licensed gambling site and app at once, and the National Gambling Helpline (0808 8020 133) is free and open around the clock. Gambling should cost no more than you've set aside for entertainment; over time, the house edge means most players lose.
How to check any casino app on the UKGC register
The same three checks work for Betway and every other brand on our brands hub: match the licensee name in the app's footer, look up the account number on the register, and confirm the trading name or domain belongs to that account. Our step-by-step licence check guide shows where each item sits on the Commission's site, including the lists of domains and trading names attached to every licence.
Compare alternatives to the Betway casino app
If you'd like to compare Betway with apps we review in full, these three partners publish their welcome terms clearly. 10bet runs sports and casino in one app with a 100% match up to £25 (18+, new UK customers, first deposit within 7 days, 10x wagering on slots within 3 days, max bonus winnings £1,000). Casumo offers a 50% bonus up to £100 on a £20+ first deposit (18+, opt-in, 10x wagering within 7 days, £5 max bet). Ladbrokes gives up to 500 free spins over ten days when new customers play £10 on slots (18+, 10p spins, no wagering). Terms apply to all three; see our app reviews for detail.
We don't work with Betway. If you want a licensed app that also mixes sports and casino in one place, 10bet is the closest of our partners; Casumo and Ladbrokes are alternatives with published, capped terms. 18+, T&Cs apply.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Betway casino app legal in the UK?
Yes. Betway Limited holds an active remote casino licence from the UK Gambling Commission under account 39372, which allows it to offer real-money casino games to adults in Great Britain. The app is simply a mobile route into that licensed account. Legality also depends on you: you must be 18 or over and physically allowed to gamble where you are. Our explainer on whether casino apps are legal in the UK covers the wider rules, including Northern Ireland and travelling abroad.
Who owns Betway?
Betway is owned by Super Group (SGHC Limited), a holding company listed on the New York Stock Exchange since January 2022. The UK licence itself is held by Betway Limited, a Maltese-registered company at Gżira. Super Group also owns Spin Casino, so the two brands are sister businesses. Ownership matters less to you than the licensee, because the licensee is the company the Commission holds responsible. You can see how to match the two in our guide to checking a casino licence.
Why does the Betway App Store listing show a different company name?
The GB App Store listing we found names Digital Outsource International Limited as seller, with a Microgaming copyright line, rather than Betway Limited. Groups often publish apps through a separate development or services company, so a mismatch is common, but you should still resolve it. Open the app's terms and confirm they name Betway Limited and UKGC account 39372. If they don't, ask support before depositing. Our guide to spotting fake casino apps lists other warning signs.
Is there a Betway casino app for Android?
We didn't confirm a current Google Play listing, so check the store yourself. Google allows real-money gambling apps in Great Britain only from licensed operators it has approved, so a genuine listing will exist only if Betway has that approval. Search Google Play on your phone, open the listing and check the developer name and 18+ rating before installing. Avoid any site offering a Betway APK to sideload, because that skips Google's checks and its automatic updates. Our Android installation guide explains each screen you'll see.
What iOS version does the Betway app need?
The GB App Store listing for the Betway casino app stated iOS 15.1 or later for iPhone and iPadOS 15.1 or later for iPad when we reviewed it in October 2026. That covers most iPhones still in use, but requirements rise with updates, so check the Compatibility line on the listing before installing. If your phone can't update, the mobile website in Safari reaches the same account. Our page on casino apps for older phones covers the options.
Has Betway been fined by the Gambling Commission?
Yes, on two published occasions: £11.6 million in 2020 and £408,945 in 2022. The Commission publishes a statement with each penalty explaining what went wrong and what the operator agreed to change. The public register currently shows no active regulatory actions against Betway Limited. A past penalty is useful context rather than a verdict on the app today. Our safe casino apps page explains how to read an operator's record alongside its current licence status.
Can I use the same Betway account on the app and the website?
Yes. A UK casino app is a front end to the same account as the website, so your balance, transaction history, verification status and safer gambling limits are shared. A deposit limit set on your phone applies on a laptop too, and a self-exclusion covers both. That also means you only verify your identity once. Our explainer on using a casino app on two devices covers sessions, logins and what happens if you sign in somewhere new.
Can I play Betway slots on autoplay in the app?
No. Autoplay has been banned on online slots in Great Britain since 31 October 2021, along with turbo and slam-stop features, and each spin must take at least 2.5 seconds. Since 17 January 2025 the autoplay ban also covers other online casino games, which must run for at least 5 seconds per round. These rules apply to every UK-licensed app, Betway included. Our guide to UK slot design rules on mobile explains each requirement and why it exists.
How do I self-exclude from Betway?
You can self-exclude through the safer gambling or responsible gambling section of your Betway account, which closes access for a period you choose, usually at least six months. To block every UK-licensed operator at once, register with GAMSTOP, which is free and covers apps as well as websites. Deleting the app doesn't close or exclude your account. Our walkthrough on self-excluding on a casino app shows the typical menu path and what happens next.
Gambling can be addictive. Free, confidential help is available 24 hours a day from the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133. Get support from GamCare or NHS gambling support, or block yourself from all UK-licensed gambling sites with GAMSTOP.
