If the PlayOJO app is not working, start by force-closing it, checking for an update and switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data; those three steps clear most problems in under two minutes. If the app still fails, test the PlayOJO website in your browser to see whether the fault is your phone or PlayOJO’s side, then work through the fixes below.
The quickest diagnostic is the browser test. Because the app and website share one account and the same servers, the result tells you a lot.

Mobile data limit or network-level gambling filter
Some mobile networks apply adult-content filters that block gambling sites until you confirm your age with the network. If PlayOJO only fails on mobile data, check your network’s content settings. Planned maintenance usually happens at quiet times and is announced on the site or in the app.
Update prompts and older operating systems
Casino apps often refuse to run an old version, partly for security and partly because rule changes need new code. If the app shows an update screen, update it from the store. If the store has no update yet, wait a short while: releases roll out gradually.
The App Store listing asks for iOS 15.0 or later. If your iPhone can’t install iOS 15, the current app won’t install, but the website still works. On Android, the Play Store hides incompatible apps or marks them as not compatible. Our update required and how to update casino apps pages cover both platforms.
Wi-Fi, mobile data and dropped connections
Slots need only small bursts of data, but live tables stream video continuously and are the first to suffer on a weak signal. If games freeze mid-round or live streams buffer, a stronger connection is the fix. Moving closer to the router, switching to 5 GHz Wi-Fi or turning off Low Data Mode (iPhone) or Data Saver (Android) for PlayOJO can all help.
Public Wi-Fi in cafés, hotels and trains sometimes blocks gambling or requires you to accept terms in a browser page before anything loads. Our guides to Wi-Fi vs mobile data and casino apps on public Wi-Fi explain the trade-offs.
Location errors and VPNs
The App Store listing says the PlayOJO app may use your location even when it isn’t open. UK-licensed apps check location to make sure you’re playing from somewhere they’re allowed to serve. If location is switched off, set to approximate on Android, or masked by a VPN, the app may refuse to open games.
iPhone: Settings, Privacy & Security, Location Services, PlayOJO: choose While Using the App, and turn on Precise Location.
Android: Settings, Apps, PlayOJO, Permissions, Location: Allow only while using the app, with Use precise location on.
VPN: switch it off completely, including any iCloud Private Relay or browser VPN.
Abroad: the UK licence covers Great Britain, so games may be blocked while you travel.
Cached files help games load quickly, but a corrupted cache can cause blank screens or endless loading. Clearing it doesn’t touch your money or account, which live on PlayOJO’s servers.

The app opens but games won’t load
If the lobby works but individual games hang on the loading screen, the issue is usually the game provider’s server, your connection or low storage. Try a different game: if others load, the problem is that game, and it usually clears within hours.
If a slot or table freezes mid-round, don’t panic. The outcome of each round is decided on the server when you place the bet, not on your phone, so the result is recorded even if the app crashes. Reopening the same game usually shows the completed round or returns you to it. Check your transaction or game history if the balance looks wrong. Our games won’t load page goes further.
Crashes, freezing and battery drain
Repeated crashes often point to low memory, an outdated operating system or a phone that’s overheating. Close other apps, especially video and games, before opening PlayOJO. Low Power Mode on iPhone and battery saver on Android can throttle performance and close background sessions.
Because the app may use location in the background, battery use can rise. Setting location to While Using the App reduces this. Our app keeps crashing guide and do casino apps drain battery explain more.
When ‘not working’ is really an account restriction
Sometimes the app works perfectly but your account can’t do something. A pending verification may block deposits or games; a deposit limit stops further deposits until the period resets; Take A Break, which the App Store listing names among PlayOJO’s tools, blocks access for the period chosen; and GAMSTOP self-exclusion blocks access to all UK-licensed online casinos.
These look like faults but are deliberate. Read the message on screen, and see our PlayOJO login problems page for help telling them apart.
When to contact PlayOJO support
Contact support if the website and app both fail on two different networks, if a game froze and your balance looks wrong, if a deposit left your bank but didn’t appear, or if an error message mentions your account. Our PlayOJO customer service page lists the contact routes.

Frequently asked questions
Why is the PlayOJO app not working today?
The most common causes are an outdated app version, a weak or filtered connection, location permission being off, a VPN, or a corrupted cache. Less often, PlayOJO itself is under maintenance. Force-close the app, update it, switch networks and try again. Then test the PlayOJO website on the same phone: if the website works, the issue is the app; if both fail on two networks, it may be on PlayOJO’s side. Our casino app troubleshooting guide has more detail.
How do I know if PlayOJO is down?
Try the PlayOJO website and app on two different connections, such as home Wi-Fi and mobile data. If both fail everywhere, PlayOJO is likely having an outage or planned maintenance, and the only fix is to wait. If they work on one connection but not the other, the network is the problem. Outages are usually short. Avoid reinstalling during an outage, as it won’t help. Our casino app not loading page explains how to tell outages from local faults.
Why does the PlayOJO app keep crashing on my iPhone?
On iPhone, crashes usually come from low free storage, an iOS version older than the app expects, Low Power Mode or too many apps open at once. The App Store listing asks for iOS 15.0 or later. Close other apps, free up space, update iOS and the app, then restart. If it keeps happening, delete and reinstall the app; your account and balance aren’t affected. Our app keeps crashing page lists further fixes for iPhone and Android.
What happens to my bet if the PlayOJO app crashes?
Your bet isn’t lost. Results are determined on the game server when you place a stake, so the round completes and is recorded even if your phone loses connection. Reopen the same game and it should show the outcome or let you finish the round. Your balance updates to reflect it. If it doesn’t look right, check your game or transaction history and contact support with the time and game name. Our guide to how casino app games work explains this.
Why does PlayOJO say my location can’t be verified?
The app needs to confirm you are somewhere PlayOJO is licensed to serve, and the App Store listing states it uses location. The check fails if location permission is off, set to approximate, blocked by a VPN or private relay, or if you are abroad. Allow precise location while using the app, switch off any VPN and turn Wi-Fi on to improve accuracy. Our location checks explained guide describes what each permission does.
Will reinstalling the PlayOJO app delete my money?
No. Your balance, history and account settings are stored by PlayOJO, not on your phone, so deleting and reinstalling the app doesn’t affect them. You will need to log in again afterwards, so make sure you know your password or can reset it. Reinstalling is a good fix for persistent loading or crashing problems that cache clearing hasn’t solved. Our page on whether deleting a casino app closes your account explains the difference between removing the app and closing an account.
Why do PlayOJO games load but the live casino doesn’t?
Live tables stream video, so they need a steadier, faster connection than slots. Data saver modes, weak Wi-Fi or a busy network can stop the stream while other games load normally. Switch to a strong Wi-Fi signal, turn off Low Data Mode or Data Saver for the app, and close other streaming apps. Our PlayOJO live casino app page and how live casino streams work on mobile explain the data needs.
Can I use PlayOJO if the app won’t work on my phone?
Yes. The PlayOJO website works in Safari or Chrome on your phone and uses the same account, balance and limits as the app. It’s a good fallback while you fix the app, or a permanent option if your phone is too old for the current version. You can save it to your home screen for one-tap access. Our app vs mobile site comparison explains the pros and cons of each.
