Sweet Bonanza app play happens inside licensed UK casino apps rather than a dedicated download: open the casino, search for Pragmatic Play’s candy slot and it loads in a few seconds. Below is how its pay-anywhere system, tumbles and multiplier bombs work on a phone, what the 96.48% RTP means in pounds, and which UK rules change the game.
Pragmatic Play slot on a 6×5 grid: 8 or more matching symbols anywhere on screen pay, no paylines.
Winning symbols vanish and new ones fall in, so one spin can pay several times.
Free spins add rainbow multiplier bombs that can multiply a tumble sequence’s total win.
Published RTP 96.48% with high volatility; the 21,100x max win is a theoretical ceiling.
UK apps remove bonus buy and autoplay and cap stakes at £5 (25+) or £2 (18–24) per spin.

Sweet Bonanza app play: the short version
Sweet Bonanza is one of the most recognisable games in Pragmatic Play’s catalogue: pastel sweets and fruit on a 6×5 board, wins that ignore paylines, and a free spins round built around multiplier bombs. On your phone it runs as part of a casino app, so the money side (deposits, limits, withdrawals) is handled by the casino and the slot simply reads your balance.
It has also spawned a family: Sweet Bonanza 1000 raises the multiplier ceiling, and Gates of Olympus and Starlight Princess reuse the same engine with different themes. If you know one, the others feel familiar within a spin or two.
How the Sweet Bonanza grid looks on iPhone and Android
A 6×5 grid is wider than it is tall, so in portrait the game shrinks the board slightly and parks the controls in a bar underneath. Thirty symbols on a 6-inch screen still read clearly, because each fruit has a distinct shape as well as a colour. The bomb values in free spins are printed in small digits, and they are the hardest thing to read on a compact handset.
Landscape gives the board more room and puts the spin button on the right-hand edge, which works well on a large phone or tablet. On smaller phones, many players prefer portrait so the thumb never leaves the spin button. If the game refuses to rotate, the cause is nearly always the phone’s rotation lock, found in Control Centre on iPhone and Quick Settings on Android.

How pay-anywhere wins and tumbles work
There are no lines to learn. After each spin the game counts how many of each symbol are visible; eight or more of the same kind pay, wherever they are. Higher counts pay more, and the top-paying red heart sweet needs 12 or more to reach its biggest value. This style is sometimes called scatter pays, because every symbol behaves a little like a scatter.
Once a win is paid, the symbols involved disappear and the gaps fill from above. If the new arrangement creates another group of eight or more, it pays too, and the process repeats until nothing new forms. One stake therefore buys a whole chain of potential wins. The same idea appears in many slots as cascading reels.
Log in to your casino app and tap Search (usually a magnifying glass at the top or in the bottom bar).
Type Sweet Bonanza and check the tile says Pragmatic Play, as several sequels share the name.
Open the paytable to see what each symbol count pays at your stake.
Choose a stake within your budget and tap spin once.
Let the tumbles finish; the total for the spin appears in the win box at the bottom.
Sweet Bonanza free spins and multiplier bombs
The lollipop is the scatter. Four or more lollipops anywhere start the free spins round with 10 spins, and three or more landing during the round add five more. Lollipops also pay on their own when they trigger the feature, with the biggest scatter payout reserved for six.
The round’s defining feature is the rainbow bomb. Bombs can land on any free spin carrying a multiplier of 2x up to 100x. When a tumble sequence ends, the values of all bombs on screen are added together and that total multiplies the sequence’s win. A bomb landing on a spin with no win does nothing, which is why some feature rounds pay little despite colourful bombs appearing.
Some international versions show a bonus buy button. In Great Britain it isn’t offered, so the lollipops are the only way in. A few versions also include an optional ante bet that raises the stake to improve the chance of triggering free spins; if your app shows one, remember it increases the cost of every spin.
Sweet Bonanza RTP and volatility in pounds
Pragmatic lists the RTP at 96.48%. Read as a long-run average, that is £96.48 returned for every £100 staked across an enormous number of spins, or a theoretical cost of £3.52 per £100. Casinos may run a different RTP version, and the help screen in your app shows the figure that applies. The RTP glossary page explains why the number only describes the very long run.
High volatility means most of that return arrives in occasional larger wins, mostly from free spins, while many spins return nothing or a fraction of the stake. Here is what that means for a few sample budgets.

Real sessions don’t follow the theoretical cost. A £20 budget can disappear well short of 100 spins, or last much longer after an early feature. The 21,100x max win would be £2,110 at 10p, but outcomes near that level are vanishingly rare.
UK rules that apply to Sweet Bonanza in apps
Each spin lasts at least 2.5 seconds, and there is no autoplay, turbo or quick-stop.
Stakes are capped at £5 per spin for players aged 25 and over, and £2 for those aged 18–24.
The game can’t celebrate a return lower than your stake with win sounds or animations.
Your balance and net session result must be visible all the time.
Demo play is only available once your age is verified.
These rules are set by the Gambling Commission and apply in every licensed app, so the game behaves the same in Coral’s app as in Casumo’s. The UK casino app rules guide covers the full list, including the 10x wagering cap on bonuses.

Frequently asked questions
Can I download a Sweet Bonanza app?
Not as a separate real-money app. Sweet Bonanza is a casino game that runs inside licensed casino apps, so you install a casino app from the App Store or Google Play and open the slot from its lobby. Social casino apps that use similar sweets don’t pay real money. Before installing anything, check the developer name on the store listing matches a UKGC-licensed operator; our casino app safety guide shows how.
How do you trigger free spins in Sweet Bonanza?
You need four or more lollipop scatters anywhere on the grid in a single paid spin, including any that drop in during tumbles. That awards 10 free spins, and three or more lollipops during the round add five extra spins. In UK apps there is no button to buy entry to the round, so scatters are the only route. Our free spins glossary entry explains how in-game free spins differ from casino bonus spins.
How do the multiplier bombs work?
Rainbow bombs only appear in the free spins round and carry values from 2x up to 100x. When a tumble sequence finishes, the game adds together every bomb on screen and multiplies that sequence’s total win by the result. If there was no win in the sequence, the bombs are simply cleared and pay nothing. That is why two feature rounds can feel very different. The multiplier glossary page covers how multipliers work in other slots.
What is Sweet Bonanza’s RTP?
The published figure is 96.48%. That is a long-run average across millions of spins, not a prediction for your session, and it equals a theoretical cost of about £3.52 per £100 staked. Pragmatic Play also supplies lower RTP versions that a casino may choose, so check the information screen inside your app for the live number. Our best payout casino apps page explains how RTP differs between games and casinos.
Is Sweet Bonanza high volatility?
Yes, it is rated high volatility. In practice that means many spins return nothing or less than the stake, and a large share of the game’s return comes from the free spins round, which may not appear for a long time. Short sessions can end in a loss even though the RTP is close to 96.5%. If you prefer steadier results, a medium volatility slot such as Wolf Gold behaves more gently. The volatility glossary page explains the scale.
What is the most I can bet on Sweet Bonanza in the UK?
The legal maximum is £5 per spin if you are 25 or older and £2 per spin if you are 18 to 24. These caps apply to all online slots in Great Britain, so even if the game’s own range goes higher, the app won’t accept a larger stake. If you use an ante bet where offered, the total cost of the spin still has to sit within your limit. Our maximum stake page has the details.
Why won’t Sweet Bonanza load in my casino app?
The usual causes are a weak connection, an out-of-date app or a full cache. Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data, update the casino app from the App Store or Google Play, then close and reopen it. If only this game fails while others work, the casino may have removed it or be fixing a provider issue, so ask support. Our games won’t load guide walks through each fix step by step.
Is Sweet Bonanza the same as Sweet Bonanza 1000?
No. They share the 6×5 grid, pay-anywhere wins, tumbles and lollipop-triggered free spins, but the 1000 version allows multiplier bombs of up to 1,000x and lists a 25,000x maximum win, against 100x and 21,100x in the original. The newer game also offers several RTP versions. If you want the original experience, check the tile name carefully in your app’s search. Our Sweet Bonanza 1000 guide covers the sequel in full.
