The UK BetMGM casino app is not the American one
BetMGM is a well-known name in the United States, where it is run as a joint venture between MGM Resorts and Entain and licensed state by state. The British BetMGM is separate: MGM Resorts brought the brand to the UK through LeoVegas, which it owns, and the licence here is held by LeoVegas Gaming PLC.
On a phone this matters because the stores can show several BetMGM apps. American versions are tied to individual states and need a location there, so they won't open a UK account. Our article on casino app location checks explains how apps confirm where you are.
LeoVegas Gaming PLC: the BetMGM licence holder
LeoVegas Gaming PLC's register entry, account 39198, gives a head office in Sliema, Malta, and lists four remote licences, all active. The register shows no regulatory actions on the account at present.

The August 2023 launch and the Kambi sportsbook
BetMGM went live for British customers in August 2023, offering casino, live casino and sports betting. The sportsbook is supplied by Kambi, a business that provides betting technology to several operators; the casino side draws on LeoVegas's platform. The brand leans on MGM's Las Vegas resort identity, but the games, cashier and safety tools are built for UK rules, including the £5 or £2 slot stake caps and no autoplay or turbo spins.

BetMGM launched for British customers in August 2023, offering casino, live casino and sports betting, with the sportsbook supplied by Kambi.
